  1. Women...you can't shoot'em and you can't....shoot them. Give it a couple of days. Let it cool. Then ask what the problem is. I'm sure she's being a girl and expecting you to read/know her mind. Remind her that you don't have those powers yet and apologize for whatever slight she thinks you did. (psst...just so you know...girls do mature eventually to realize that men are not the dumb creatures we think they are when they were younger....then women realize that just as dumb the men were, so were they....)
  2. Interesting article....if this is true (and I suspect that it is), then I want to fire Congress now. Washington knew AIG was preparing to pay bonuses
  3. I liked this article for this statement alone: The point is not to condemn President Bush, but to illustrate that party labels have meant very little in recent federal expansions. I may align myself closer to Republicans, but I find even they are drifting further from what I think is right (pun intended).
  4. You know, you described something that was actually my strong "burning in the bosom" testimony moment. I'm intrigued by your comment that you don't want to rely solely on your feelings (and you quoted a verse from the Bible). I'm not going to try to convince you of anything, but I wanted to share something. When I pray about a doctrine or something, oftentimes, I feel a sense of peace. My turmoil after reading some very hateful material against the Church banished when I prayed to Heavenly Father and invoked the name of Jesus to know the truth. I can only say that I felt such a peace that I knew it came from Heaven--I had never felt that before. So, although that scripture says to not rely on your feelings, I truly feel that it is through the heart AND mind that God answers my prayers. Sometimes, I confuse my feelings with answers from God--but there are times when it is unmistakable that it is more than me.
  5. I agree, Pale. I was just talking to my Dad tonight about the Congress and their outrage over AIG bonuses--yet they are keeping their raise. If I don't perform well, I don't get a raise. Interesting....
  6. Depends on your goal and where you are in life, IMO. I made a goal early in the year to read the BoM in 60 days. Here's a quote from my journal about it: One of my goals is to read the Book of Mormon in 60 days. I am not expecting to receive deep insight or reveal new doctrines. But I do expect to become reacquainted with a beloved book. I do expect to feel the Spirit again in my life. I expect to have these 60 days help me to create a habit of turning to the scriptures more. Some days I was just reading the words. Other days, I heard the Spirit speak to me.
  7. I'm going to give some advice that you can take or leave. Your profile says you're 18 y/o. An 18 y/o is still growing emotionally and phsysiologically. Means, your brain ain't done cooking yet. As an 18 y/o I felt very mature and responsible. As a woman looking back on my 18 y/o self, I was mature and responsible, but I was also young, inexperienced to life and naive in many ways. I would caution anyone at that age to take your time in dating. Enjoy dating many men/women. Get to know friends. Then when the time is right, find that one friend who gives you not-just-friends feelings and see what happens. You'll find many men/women who are fantistic people and get a crush on them. That's ok. But as life gives you opportunities for life experiences, you recognize crushes vs. real feelings of caring.
  8. I'll be attending one of the sessions in the Conference Center. I hope my Hoosier tix get me good seats! I'll watch the others.
  9. This is a website that I use for scripture reading. I really like it because it sends me an email as a reminder. I can read it or listen to it online, from the website or the email. It also has other readings besides the Book of Mormon. I am currently reading the BoM and the November 2008 Conference issue.
  10. You might try using a shower spray preparer thing in the toilet in between cleanings. It's the stuff you spray in showers after each shower that helps reduce the mold, hard water spots, dirt, etc.
  11. Try using CLR. It's found in any Walmart or Target. Spray it on, wait a while, then scrub. Do again if necessary. That stuff is amazing. The key is to give it time to soak in.
  12. Naw, the real reason is because the writers are out of original thought. Notice all the Hollywood movies are just remakes?
  13. I'll need to in order to pay my Pale dues.......
  14. Really? I didn't think it was going to start yet. My check included OT and a bonus...so I have no idea if I got an extra $13. I'll have to check the next one....
  15. I thought this thread would be about me!
  16. Nothing to see here, move along people.
  17. Mine too. Now, I'm depressed........
  18. Hordak, do you think that means that to be rich is sinful or wrong? I see that as evidence that if your heart is set on riches then that is sinful. Having riches is not sinful...unless your heart is on them. In fact, I would think God wants us to be wealthy (not just with money, either). My thoughts are that if we are righteous and wealthy, we have more to bless others with (money, health, vitality, wisdom, etc.).
  19. You know, justice, in the thread by ceeboo about this subject, I made the comment that I don't ever remember being taught that in church. And I stand by that statement. I truly don't remember a talk or lesson on this subject. Maybe it was mentioned as an aside, but I don't recall anything. It's just not something that is dwelt on and fervently taught on a consistent basis. I believe that Heavenly Father was once a man, but to what extent I don't know. I don't necessarily feel that I have a problem owning up to that belief, but I just find it difficult to understand why it is such a stumbling block for so many people. That is what I was trying to understand from ceeboo's thread. (btw, I didn't take your comment personally...it just started me thinking about me...since I'm the center of my world...and everything revolves around me...)
  20. I guess I understand more because my dad grew up (and escaped) from a strong communist country. What he and his family went through just because he escaped to America was atrocious. These stories are a part of my heritage and I cannot bear to think of people being so insensitive and stupid as to wear a symbol of bondage like that.

  24. I sometimes have problems with Firefox. I've tried doing the plugin things from Mozilla, but without luck. I usually just switch to IE and have no problems.
  25. Wow, was it really that long ago that people don't remember the atrocities?
