Rame? You really need to take things a little less personally. Pam was being funny, that's it.

You do raise a good point. As one of many at fault, I would suggest he shares blame with investors, banks and the American public at large as well.
-
Yes, Hemi. We can blame Obama for something that happened before he was in power. We shouldn't blame the economy, or poor investment strategies, or a scared populace not buying like they used to. We can't blame a war that has more than the GDP of most countries, or an economic system that equates to a zero sum game. The economy is not Obama's fault. It's now his responsibility, but it isn't his fault.

Aww, Apple. Despite the love I have always had for you, you did put on a horizontally striped shirt once. I just couldn't hang out with someone who dresses like Charlie Brown.
-
Hahahah. That's not gonna happen, Wing.

I'm not gonna lie, Gwen. I totally checked her out. Actually, that does deserve some type of explanation. Some people are natural flirts. Not me, I am the posterboy of civility. Ultimately, just because someone dresses sexy does not give someone the right to go all animalistic. However: What it sounds like is that guys are showing up, acting like friends. They're being complimentary, attentive, making her feel good. Then, they're suddenly hit by the "I want to be more than friends" bit. Lotta girls and guys fall for that. When someone acts like that (Puppy-dog syndrome) of course it makes a person feel good. But you will never gain attraction for someone who considers himself below you in some way. Then, when they haven't shown their interest in some other way, the women are shocked when it's suddenly sprung upon them. Guys call it the "Friends Zone" and a lot of guys make the classic mistakes that result in this. I certainly used to. But you live and learn.

Baby, don't be hatin'.

I would recommend engaging your son in some activity that all boys like. It's never too early to enroll your son in classes like Smoov B's "The Wimmens: Why they be lovin' pimpin'" and "Pimpin' Ain't Easy - Smoov B's ABC guide to pimpin'" or even, "Pimpitude: How to look cute for when your uncle takes you to the park to pick up ladies."
-
There's only one way to stop this, Jennifer: Get married. Then, you can make out with your man all day long without consequence and if those puppy-dog guys start following you around, he can threaten them. It's a win-win situation!
-
Is your Mom interested in the same guy as you? Is she worried he might be too old for you? This case sounds like we don't have enough information. Regardless of the case you can only thing you can do is love your Mom and, if you're praying about whether this relationship is right(And not just praying to know that you -can- marry him), love the person you marry. I know that sounds like simple advice for a complex situation, but it really comes down to that. I know it's hard when your parent doesn't approve of a relationship. But you do have the strength to get through this. Even if your Mom is being annoying.

Welcome to the site, Jen! Everyone here is cool: Lby is the smart one, Moe is the sarcastic one, Wingnut keeps 'im in line and I randomly propose to people when I'm bored. Just get in with the cool people and you'll be fine. But if you make friends with the wrong people, I have to shun you. I have a reputation to upkeep.
-
Are these members, Jen? It sounds like you have a serious case of Puppy-Dog-Itis: People who follow you around, giving you compliments and making you feel good. You have no intention of a relationship but they're positive you'll come around. There are ways to deal with Pupp-Dog-Itis if that's the case. Can you tell us a bit more about the guys and what they're like?

The ladies, they are like the desert flower that blooms on the cactus after the spring rains. They are bright and decorate the land, but they are quick to wilt. Your problem, is that you have too much of the lady genes and not enough of the Funkytown man-genes. I would recommend Smoov B's "Guide to the Male Mind". This tome of wisdom and inspiration should show you the path that you require.

The ladies, they are like the desert flower that blooms on a cactus after an intense spring shower. They stand in stark contrast to dank sands that sprawl out beneath them. They bring life and perfume to a barren land. Thankfully, Funkytown has the answer: You must purchase Smoov B's guide to the ladies. This tome of wisdom and knowledge will grant you the delicate social skills required to give the ladies what they need: A font of truthiness and pimpitude. If you were to ask 10 women what they need more than anything, it would be pimpitude. Listen to the wisdom of Smoov B, for he knows the mind of the ladies.

Dear Lby, The ladies, they are like the flower that bloom on a cactus in the desert; Life can bloom bright, but must bloom bright only a few times a year. Any more than that and it ceases to be a desert and their lives must cut short. Your friend sounds like he/she is too awesome for you. Your desert thirsts for the rain that he or she brings it, it needs the hit of life that comes when those who are too bright for us pass. Thank your friend for his or her awesomeness, for that awesomeness is what gifts your barren lands with color and life.

The Real Reason Why Glen Beck Interview Was Pulled
FunkyTown replied to Hemidakota's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I disagree. There is no new insight in to "what Mormons Believe" and a hundred and fifty years ago, those same protestant churches wouldn't have allowed us to speak in their pulpits, either. While darker interests are being served, I doubt that this is due to the machinations of the wicked. -

I'm a little concerned about this. Theologically, disagreeing with those you think are unbiblical is necessary. Paul said this in 2nd Corinthians, 12-14 "But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. " In other words, just because someone seems a righteous follower of Christ doesn't mean they are and many transform themselves in to such. In fact, in Revelations it speaks of a lying spirit deceiving many and every member who has been a missionary has heard the old "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."(Matthew 7:21-23). The truth is, as Christians we are required to stand up for the truth. They believe we are not the truth because we believe in some pretty radical things compared to them. If they believe we are deceived, it is their solemn duty to say so regardless of how we feel. I'm grateful they care enough to tell the truth. I disagree and think we can sustain our positions biblically, spiritually and before God. I believe the LDS church to be the truth, given forth by God and His Son, Jesus Christ. It has always been so: The prophets have always been stoned and even Jesus himself was not accepted by those who followed the traditional ways. We can not be offended by it, but merely educate and let the spirit convict those who are willing to listen. It has always been so. -

Fair enough. Mr. Beck stepped in to theological territory. Since they disagree with his theology, they pulled the plug on this. -
For those who don't know, the Pacific Resource Group as cited by SkylerCollins is an interesting organization. On the one hand, its stated goals include Environmental Protection, Quality Education for everyone and the limitation of harmful(emphasis mine) government regulation on the technology sector. These are all noble goals. On the other hand, its major donors include companies such as Exxon Mobil, ChevronTexaco, Microsoft and Pfizer. I do have a question: Did she always have the thyroid problem? It seems odd that a guy would marry someone he wasn't attracted to. Frankly, he should realize that you don't marry someone for what you hope you can make them.

*starts taking notes* Marriage or life... Give Twinkie Spiel... Cook. Boy, this whole marriage thing is complex, Mavreen. Thanks for the help. If it weren't for my sex-ay dress sense, I don't know what I'd do. Like right now, I have on doublemint reversible slacks and a white silk shirt open up to my navel. Women love that.
-
What? My random proposals to people on the internet might not be the best way to go about marrying? That makes me sad! Next you'll be saying all my best pickup lines aren't good, either, like "Please let me stalk you so my mother doesn't think I'm gay." or "I guess you're good enough. Y'know. For now. Let's make out." At least I have my good old standby, "Why don't you come by my pad and I'll make hot dogs with Twinkie buns. When you're six hundred pounds like me, you know how to cook!"

No way! The end is coming in the year 2000. We know it's coming then, because (And this is the logical part) - There are a lot of 0s in that number.

I walked in to my Patriarch's house and spent four hours with him before I got my blessing. For some, it's easy. For others, it's hard. I had a series of pretty specific instructions in mine and the blessing was pretty in-depth. Honestly, when it comes to temple marriage, you can always get what you want. It won't be easy and it won't come without struggle or sacrifice, but if you truly seek it and are open to the spirit, you'll find it. :)

The problem, Father, is that Physics can be proven with scientific experimentation. Biology, on the other hand, can not be forced in the same way. If it took billions of years of sunlight hitting organic molecules on lifeless planets to create life on one planet, scientific observation will never observe this given our limited ability to observe and control the universe. On the other hand, Intelligent Design takes these gaps and assigns what those outside the ID group would call arbitrary values to them. The problem lies in the fact that nobody on either side is really admitting those gaps exist. Despite never seeing a life originate under controlled circumstances(Or uncontrolled circumstances, to be fair), both groups are applying arbitrary values. Both groups apply logic, coming to different conclusions. The truth is that we will either only know for certain God created it after death, or we will never know for certain because death is an absolute end, or we will know for certain when we achieve a much broader ability to manipulate and observe our universe. None of those three options are available to those who want to provide answers now. This is why origin of life can come to no effective argument one way or the other. We simply don't have the knowledge or capability to gain that knowledge. That's offensive to many scientists of both stripes.
