  1. Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day, I've got a beautiful feeling, Everythings going my way sorry, couldn't resist. Pretty pics. :)
  2. Negative thoughts have been my bane as well. One book i would highly suggest is Unlocking the Powers of Faith by Garth Allred. It really helped me.
  3. Ephesians 5 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Family Proclamation: "By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness" My opinion: We live more in a woman's world than a man's world these days, and it's made things a whole lot worse (not that they weren't bad before but that they are worse, it is the last days after all). And, no, i am not a man. 2 Nephi 13: 12 And my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who lead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths.
  4. Anyway, to answer the OP: I don't believe any of the quorum of the 12 have gone through a divorce, but the only way i can think that you could confirm it would be to go to the official website of the church, lds.org, and do a search for their biographies, one by one. I know they're on there, cause i've done it before.
  5. Ok, just confirmed. He was not the actual bishop but was in the bishopric.
  6. Is there somewhere i can look this up? What handbook are you referring to? Because i personally know a man who divorced after a temple marriage, remarried (eventually in the temple), and later became a bishop.
  7. Super, super good! I also could not put it down and read it in a night. Definitely worth reading anytime of the year. I don't even really consider it to be about Christmas so much as about life in general and the lessons of life.
  8. I watched it once and it was really very good, but i don't think i could watch it again. Sad, sad, sad.
  9. A Harley to church!! That is SO cool!! I would do it myself if i owned one, but i don't know how it would work with my skirt. There's a guy in my ward with a beard and long, curly, shoulder-length hair, the same length as his wife's hair. I think they are long-time members, not really sure. I'm pretty new to the ward. But they have a calling in the primary (working with kids). My husband has a beard too. Beards are SO sexy!!
  10. I didn't take the quiz. I really don't think i want to see any evidence of how ignorant i am. LOL But i have to brag about my husband. I showed him the quiz and he took it in the 5 minutes while he was getting ready for work. He got 93.94% and said he probably would have gotten the two he missed if he hadn't been in such a rush. Yes, i married a brilliant man! And he's a good kisser, too!
  11. Hey, thanks, y'all! It has been great to get some perspective. :)
  12. hmmm, so perhaps the question shouldn't be "do girls want an Edward?" but maybe "do girls want to behave like Bella?" ?????
  13. LOL, that's what my hubby must like about it too
  14. I, personally, think it means that we don't believe the Holy Ghost had a hand in the creation of the world. The creation was carried out by Christ under the direction of the Father. They were the two who created everything and thereby have supreme power over everything. The Holy Ghost does not share in that supreme power but instead focuses on the power to "bear record" of the Father and Son to the souls of men.
  15. Thank you! I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Keep them coming. I would love to hear anyone else's opinions on the article.
  16. I disagree. Take this for example: ram asks: "How do we know you aren't following a deceiving spirit, as Joseph Smith established the priesthood quorums and their responsibilities to baptize, ordain, and excommunicate?" [it is LDS doctrine about the priesthood being able to excommunicate and hence take away priesthood authority] your response: "And you are welcome to your point of view." [you do mention feeling the spirit stronger, but again how do we know what spirit it is] One more: ram says: "I can tell you, the day will come when the Lord will restore Zion. And those leading it will be at the head of the LDS Church, as prophets and apostles. No other restorationist church has the direction, organization, or inspiration to make it happen." [again, it is LDS doctrine that those at the head of our church will restore Zion] your response: "Again, you are welcome to your opinion." [you do say, "The Lord doesn't need an earthly organization to make anything happen, He could raise up an army tomorrow to build New Jerusalem..." but then why did he make an "earthly" organization through Joseph Smith (which you apparently believe)?] I think you need to make yourself a little more clear. For example, how do the verses you quote from Nephi mean that the Holy Spirit = Heavenly Mother (which was the original question) because i really can't see that meaning in there. Please explain. Read the posts without your anti-apostate glasses on. Please refrain from calling me anti-apostate. My sister is an apostate, and i love her dearly. You have already done this twice, please don't do it again.
  17. Just the thought of carbonation makes my nose tingle and my ears itch. I think i might be allerg.....AAAAAAACHOOOOOO!!!!
  18. Thank you, rameumptom, this is exactly my frustration. And it looks like we will continue to not get any straight answers. Oh, well. Kris, mate, i think you're reading aggression in these posts. I do not see any aggression here on anyone's part--just frustration. We are clearly not communicating with each other very well for some reason.
  19. MormonTimes - What girls want: An Edward Wow! This article almost makes me want to read Twilight or at the very least see the movie. Almost. So what do all you ladies and/or gentleman who have seen the movie and/or read the book think about this article? (Be alert, moderators, you may or may not need to move this to the open forum. I'll let y'all be the judge)
  20. Yes, i see you are rather new here and are probably not used to my occasional abruptness. It looks like you popped on right about the time i was going through my long and arduous move to another town, during which time i only occasionally visited the site. But, by all means, answer about the gathering. I wouldn't have posted it if i didn't want you to respond. But, yes, i would you rather give a real response than that particular phrase i don't like. I see that phrase as a skirting of the issues. You say you are interested in discussion, then let's discuss. If all you want is opinion, then you can state yours and i can state mine and we can skip along to other things. But please don't skirt the issue by stating what i already know. Let's discuss our opinions instead of stating that we have them, which is obvious. So, yes, please tell me why you think God would want more scattering when we are supposed to be in the time of gathering.
  21. These are the last days, the gathering period. I find it very hard to believe that God would wish to further divide his kingdom on earth. Did Christ not say, "if ye are not one, ye are not mine."? Weren't many of the talks during this past conference about unity and becoming one in Christ? (if you don't care about conference, disregard that last sentence). And yes, thank you, i do know that i can have my own opinion. If that's the only response you can come up with, i might as well answer it now. I agree, we should stick to doctrinal differences instead of stating the obvious.
  22. There have been far too many people on this site that will only say "You're welcome to your opinion." I think that really goes without saying. Everyone, i'm sure, knows that they are entitled to their own opinion. That's all i wanted to say, except that repentance involves more than a mere confession.
  23. Absolutely. I know lots of people, mostly ex-members, who do not want to be involved in the church. We take whatever level of involvement people desire. Some will come to certain activities, some want visiting or home teachers and others want nothing at all. My parent's next-door neighbors are of the want-nothing-at-all variety, so my parents are just friendly and neighborly with them and don't discuss the church.
  24. I liked them. I have yet to read the one on Rachel & Leah but i've read Sarah and Rebekah. I think he has a really captivating writing style. I couldn't put them down. :)
  25. Correct, except on #5, though you're close as it's by the same author. By the way, love your new avatar! It reminds of the Energizer Bunny for some reason. :)
