  1. I really enjoyed the olympics being on multiple channels because it would actually have different sports on each one. But the convention has one stage with usually one speaker on it...so it seems kinda overkill that it's on a bunch of different channels. ONE is totally enough.
  2. Hemi, I have a question...You read really really fast, don't you?
  3. Right there with ya Breeb. I wonder if this is because we are going to actually NEED it, or the Lord is just trying to get me to follow his commandments. My problem is that I can't really stock up right now...hafta wait until '09.
  4. OH! Got it. You know, my head is way too thick...I'm surprised I absorb any information at all. :)
  5. I'm a big fan of frozen items. Are these not a very good idea for food storage?
  6. This one went over my head. We are renting, and just about to buy our first house in the next year... ??
  7. Holy cow. Nevermind. (kindof) What is your stance on the food storage thing? I know that back in Joseph's day the commandment was to try to store 7 years worth of food...and nowdays it's 1 year. Any insight on this change?
  8. Anymore snippets of information you have in your arsenal you would like to share? :)
  9. Very cool Hemi. :) I have wondered what would happen to the saints around the world, and also those that are righteous that have yet to hear the gospel. I pray about it - like when there are natural disasters, knowing that there are good people suffering... but haven't really gotten an answer yet. And the stuff going on in Darfur...I just really hope that God is there with those people with his arms wrapped around them. There are so many well-meaning people out there who have done the best they know how and I want them to be just as blessed and comforted (whenever calamity happens) as promised to the saints. Hopefully that made sense.
  10. Holy cow. You guys are all really smart and have a lot of good info to digest! I would think the "babe" prophet was Joseph Smith...yes/no? I'm gonna be watching those rainbows.
  11. I would also like to ask where this migration to Missouri thing comes from? It was my understanding that it could mean everyone goes, or even just a few leaders go and meet. ??
  12. '87...That kid would be 19-20 right now.
  13. Just my opinion... I believe that regardless of the religion, God has a plan for all families. I like the idea that these family connections began in the pre-existance...like we were able to come up with a plan to experience this world together...like pick who our mom is and our siblings, or something. It doesn't seem foreign to me to think that every soul will have family to embrace them on the other side...and have the opportunity to spend eternity with them, regardless of origination of faith. I don't think the plan of salvation denies anyone this blessing.
  14. I've noticed that people bring up "the second coming is soon" here and there on the forum...like it will happen tomorrow or in a couple of years. Questions: -Is God's version of "soon" different than our own mortal understanding of "soon"? Is it safe to say that our modern conveniences and immediate gratification kindof cloud this concept further? -When the scriptures say somthing like "the end is near", is it really be talking about Jesus Christ coming?...or could it be talking about our own individual timeline on this earth? -Anyone have any scriptures on this subject?
  15. My niece is two and calls the the temple being built over in Daybreak "the princess's castle"
  16. Welcome Classico! :)
  17. And Nothing Shall Offend Them Elder David A. Bednar "Through the strengthening power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, you and I can be blessed to avoid and triumph over offense." I really liked this talk.
  18. OK so this one is pretty mean... Our town was nothing but really old houses and really old door bells. When you'd push the button instead of a "ding-dong" you'd hear a "BUZZ" until you took your finger off the button. So as nice as we were (bored in the summertime), we'd take a little rock and tape it onto the button to the button stayed pushed down...BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ! So these poor folks would have to wake up and have to go outside and take the taped down rock off the doorbell. Then we'd wait about 1 hour and hit the house again...I'm sure that didn't sit too well with some people.
  19. We lived close to a cherry orchard. Before the cherries completely ripen they make a really funny sound when you throw them at cars (kinda like paintballs). So (naturally) we would throw these cherries at the cars passing by at night, and they'd screech to a hault and then slowly drive off. But one bigger car stopped and didn't move on...it was a COP...one of those K9 unit guys. Our eyes got really big and we just froze hoping he wouldn't see us. The guy got out, spotted us and then opened the door for the dog. That dog didn't exactly sound like he wanted to make friends. I have never run so fast in my life. We jumped a fence into a horse pasture (that barbed wire did NOT feel good) and got away from the dog...and I guess the cop too.
  20. Yay! Congrats T!
  21. YAY! Congratulations! Baptism is such a neat experience, I've always felt such a sweet spirit at baptisms. Kinda tricky to explain this kind of stuff to a little kid. :) My step brothers were 9 and 13 when their mom got baptized (I was an inactive member). I remember that she just told them that she was going to be baptized and just told them why. She also said that she wanted us all to go to church with her, but she left it up to the boys to decide if they wanted to be baptized. She took all of us to church every Sunday and about 6 months later my youngest brother decided to get baptized...and today he has gone on to servs an LDS mission. My other brother got baptized when he was 15 but as soon as he moved out he stopped going to church. Just so your son understands a little about the kids he will be interacting with in primary...the kids in primary usually have had years to learn the gospel principles and get baptized when they're 8. But it doesn't matter how old he is when he gets baptized; he can be baptized at 8 or 9 or 75, whenever he feels he's ready to accept the gospel. Hope this helps! God bless.
  22. My brother has been inactive for years and years. Just this last Sunday he went to church for the first time in who knows how long. And guess what comes up in priesthood class? ... a guy stands up and says that tatoos are "the mark of the beast". My brother wanted to stand up and take off his shirt. I told him he totally should have. I am personally drawn to tatoos. If your wife was in my ward I'd probably follow her around just to get a better look at em. :)
  23. Thanks guys. :) So I called my bish and he was fine with us going to the other ward on Sunday and will keep our records where they're at...and he asked what else we needed help with. Dunno what I was stressing about. He did say that a calling was headed our way for my husband and wanted us to be sure that it would work for our situation before we commit to it. It was a good finish to the day. :)
  24. HAHA! Always worked for me.
