  1. You know it's sad that as a people we are so divided over a person's election. How can you say it was 'forced'? I am not even sure what you mean by the word 'forced.' If you mean you think people voted wrongly than that's your opinion. But we had an election, people voted and they chose Obama. That is what an election is. No one 'forced' me to choose who I wanted to vote for and no one 'forced' you to choose who you wanted to vote for either. In the end you went into the voting booth and voted for who you voted for. You sound bitter. It's time to get over such feelings of animosity and accept that he's the President by the will of the People. I know this isn't easy to accept but that is so.
  2. Actually I was asked by the Relief Society president what I was going to do to find an eternal companion. I said I was put off by the Single's ward. Too many girls not enough guys. Geesh.... The leaders of the church are right, the guys need to ASK more. And I finally admited that I am not ready to settle down and I am leaving it in the Lord's hands.
  3. I agree that was so wrong and so not PC but funny regardless. And my father keeps thinking there will be a revolution coming in this country.
  4. Too true. I spent four months in France. Course four months is not a lesson in governance. I think I mainly admired the way that whenever things were not going well the French protested. Talk about active participation in government.
  5. I am in the agreement that something needs to be done. Personally I think business, particularly the banking industry has gone way too lassiez-faire. And a little restraint is going to have to be applied. Plus some changes are going to have to be made overall. The way our government is set up however makes changes pretty darn difficult and it becomes a slow laberous progression. This is what makes the US a democracy. There are more effiecent forms of government but.... democracy provides withstraint. So I really don't think America will be compleatly socalistic. But I think we need some more socalistic type programs to get us through some of the mess.
  6. Well I bought it crossed my fingers and installed it. It works. Although I put it in compatiblity mode to work with Vista but in compatiblity to work with XP. I haven't done much with it though so no idea if there will be any crashes or anything else but so far so good.
  7. That is the problem in many ways. There has been a loss of credit in the market. So you're suggestion that what we need is more loss of credit. While I agree that society has gone hog wild on the credit market and there needs to be more withstraint. Freezing more credit for a good portion of the population will make things even harder for the economy to move and develop.
  8. And I disagree with that statement. Business are going out of business. If business and people are not making money, how in the world are they going to have a tax cut? A tax cut means they have to be working in order to qualify for it. If this was any other crises then I'd agree with a tax cut but so many people have been cut in their jobs and so many business are going belly up. I fail to see the logic in a major tax cut.
  9. I do think the stimulus was needed. Although some of it I have to agree is junk. And this is coming from someone who is a democrat. I am highly skeptical of the housing mortgague bill being put on the table. Obama is asking for people who can't pay to go bankrupt. That means their credit is shot for seven years and this means for millions of people there credit rating will be shot all to heck and back. It means that our country will be frozen for seven years perhaps more. It's only going to make things worse not better.
  10. I think I am familar with Bettina. Does she spend a lot of time in Yahoo Answers? Because if she does than I am familar with her. And thank you for shareing such a beautiful story. I think I've heard it once before, but thank you for reposting it to my memory. Anyway welcome to the forum.
  11. I never understood all the fuss either.
  12. My mom is a poltical junky and she at least admits to it. I can handle to about an hour to an hour and a half of poltical material and then like I said I get information overload. Cspan is enjoyable, I really do like it and I turn to it when there is too much commentary being strewed around. I can make my own decisions and have my own opinions without someone trying to put thoughts into my head.
  13. Meh. Maybe you should watch a wider variety of stuff instead of them. A wider diet of other poltical shows could broaden your palet a lot more. The shows that are generally on my list to watch are Meet the Press and McLaughlin Report and even then I don't watch them all the time. Too much poltical material tends to give me a big overload and a headache. But I tend to like looking around for a wider variety of material.
  14. Thanks everyone. Maybe I was overreacting, but I have a lot of contacts on my messangers and I have many good friendship with many online friends. So when a porn spamer contacts me on my messanger, I freaked out thinking that it might be one of my online friends that I've chatted with before. But now that you're telling me that this is somewhat common I am relieved that it isn't one of my online buddies.
  15. Well this is the first time I've ever had this happen. I guess the internet keeps being more and more.....unsettling. I guess the internet is evolving more and more and not in a way I like it. I understand now, it is spam. But it's spam that I was never familar with before. Thanks Gwen.
  16. It was unsettling. I am just looking to be reassured.
  17. You might be a Mormon if....you buy tickets for a game that is facing off against BYU. Seriously though, BYU is playing my University's basketball team this weekend and I bought tickets so I could cheer for my Alma Mater. I am going to be doing a lot of neck turning to see who in my ward is going to be also going to the game.
  18. Now that you mention it. I think your quotation of mention that it's Spam related. I agree. Although I try not to reveal my contact info on most forum sites which I think maybe how this particular stalker/spammer was able to contact me.
  19. hmmm I guess this means I can block (turn off) all those Spanish stations. But you seem to be getting more stations than I am. We've got the NBC olympic footage that you mentioned which really is no big deal to me. No cartoon station or worship station. One channel is nothing but local weather 24x7 which is alright. And then two or three PBS stations which is nice since I don't always want to watch Sesame street.
  20. I had it happen to me last night and it freaked me out enormously. It wasn't on this site but I was contacted on one of my instant messanger programs from someone and told they had a crush on me but they were extremly shy. They tried to contact me through email. ( I have no records of emails from them, if they did send them they were reported as spam) I mentioned that to them. I wasn't too panic at first but then they mentioned they had pictures of them in risque postions with my name written all over their body. That freaked me out even more they provided a link where I supposedly could look at them. (I did not click on it btw) Because I would never look at someone in such a manner. I think the site may have been also an attempt to steal my idenity as well as the person on the other end stated that I would need a credit card or id or something to prove I was over 18 on this website he was on. More warning lights flashed off as well. Needless to say the person was put on my ignore list and reported on my instant messanger as being spam. But I am slightly unnevered. I hope this will be the end of things. I have always been cautious of people on the internet for good reason. I tried to look for a transcript of this communication I had but sadly it was deleated and I thought I had saved it. But is there anyway to make sure I am not contacted again? Short of uninstalling my IM programs, because I do have people I consider friends on mymessanger. I have no idea who this person is, I think they specifically made a new id so I couldn't figure out who it was. If I don't act on a stalker's stalking will I be okay?
  21. *snickers* This reminds me of a story as well. When I was younger, my brother along with my parents went to the Clark County State fair. We were walking around the animal pavillion and there were a lot of livestock. We were looking at this cow who had just finished having a bath and we were having a good time when suddenly the cow's tounge extended and licked my brother squarely across his face. He looked compleatly shocked, as he really wasn't expecting it and we started laughing and stating that he had gotten kissed by a cow. Edit: And I decided to change my avatar as well. :)
  22. Compleatly agree, my aunt who lives in California works at Walmart in customer service and a lot of people come back and complain to her that the converter box is junk and have to get their money back and get another box. Some are good and some are bad as you said. We got a Pansonic HDTV antenna and the signal is so much better thant what we had with the other attenna, and they had antennas at diffrent costs and the one we got was $12, I finally got most of the stations that we use, the most thing I am disappointed about is a lot are Spanish channels. I know for some that's a good thing, but I don't know a lick of Spanish. I spent my time in school learning French so a spanish station is pretty useless. And then many of the Spanish channels have a terrible signal, but I contemplated over this and decided that I wasn't going to bother with trying to get a signal off a spanish station as some of those stations never came in clearly in analog so I didn't bother with it and I don't know Spanish and neither does my family so I just ignored it. We have what stations we need and I am not going to bother trying to mess with the antenna.
  23. Well the only use for TV really is for news. Unless you plan on just having it streamed in from the internet. But yea the converter box doesn't work that well....
  24. That is so true. I whine that it's cold when it's about 50 or 60 degrees. But I live in Las Vegas, so for a local that is cold.
  25. LOL No it's a sign that my mom watches too much TV. Seriously the only reason why we got the converter is that no one else in the house wants to watch The Bachelor. We would have been perfectly happy to let the other set in the back room die and be happy with our 200 satalite stations but mom let out a squack that the rest of the family hogs the satlite and doesn't let her watch the Bachelor. And we do it because we complain that the show is nothing but reality soap crud and we'd rather watch BYU or PBS instead. lol Anyway we went to Target and got a better antenna just for her. She's very lucky she had a gift card that she still had left over from Christmas so the antenna and the converter box didn't cost a thing.
