I think the Sprit works in very unusual ways as I was siting in Relief Society, last sunday the presidency was talking about the sisters whose birthdays were this month. Anyway I was thinking to myself someone really ought to give these sisters birthday cards. Five hours later.... The Relief society president calls me and asks me would I be intrested in sending birthday cards to the sisters whose birthdays are during the month. I am suppose to write something that might cheer them up and celebrate their birthday. :) Anyway, could somebody give me any websites where I could come up with some good quotes or something nice that might make a sister in the ward's day for their birthday.

There really isn't anything scientifically based on the whole Groundhog seeing his shadow and it still being winter. I would think if the Groundhog doesn't see his shadow, then it means it's overcast which means nasty weather and that would be winterish type weather. Ironically, we actually had leafing buds coming out on our trees a few weeks ago but now all of a sudden it's turned cold. I think the trees were decieved by unusually warm weather.

Well it's still winter. We had a nice winter storm this evening. No snow but lots and lots of rain. Looks like no desert tortise would stick his head out in this weather and I wouldn't either. And it seemed so nice the past two weeks.

Well at least I know where I stand with them. On a postive note, I was at the hair stylist place and we were talking. Her older daughter is out of work as well. But then I mentioned that in my past I volunteered and did tutoring and she said, "tutoring, my nine year old is flunking in school. If you can tutor her, I'll pay you $25 an hour for a couple days a week." She gave me a card with her number on it and told me to call her back next week. At least I can be paid something.

Not sure about Nevada. Generally Nevada relies on Mojave Max, he's a big ole Desert tortoise that's suppose to tell us when spring is here. If he emerges out of his shell then it's suppose to be spring and all the school age kids try and guess when he emerges. lol. 2009 Mojave Max Emergence Contest Begins He hasn't emerged yet, so I guess it's still winter here.

Well still nothing in the job market deespite my efforts of job searching. Although I did put in for a job at Hallmark. Today I got a response in an email. Although a bit disappointed in the response, I felt good that someone actually took the time to send me a response about my inquiry. It may not have been much but I actually felt that Hallmark had enough respect to let me know that they couldn't use me. I just wish more businesses could be like that.

HELP!! {not sure if this is the right place}

I've heard of this as well and it's only the women who are divorcing a man who has to go through the complicated affair of having a temple divorce as women can only be sealed to one man. -
"LOST" -- from conversion to addiction
AngelLynn replied to Misshalfway's topic in General Discussion
LOL.... I have no Lost Addiction but I am addicted to Doctor Who and absolutely think David Tennant is so cute. -
Who said it was quiet in space? I found this rather interesting vid on You Tube. These are sounds being produced from the Planet Jupiter. I actually don't find it at all weird sounding at all. I think it sounds rather peaceful.

I've heard this before. I am a big Doctor Who fan though. But thanks for posting.

A-Train I am sorry but I have to disagree with your reponse. I believe Free Market would be a terrible idea for health care. The problem with the health care system is that it is for profit. Prices go up because money has to be make to make a profit. If I could afford insurance I would buy it in a heartbeat. It is not a choice I like or willingly accept. It's because it's not affordable. On the other side of the fence are my parents, my father worked with Civil Service with the Federal Government. He has insurance that is close to being the exact same thing the senators and congressmen hold. However, it's getting harder to meet deductables espically in retirement years. It's not perfect but it is insurance. I was cut off this insurance because frankly he could no longer could afford to carry me on his policy. Insurance is going to have to be reformed.

Throw out the green jello! Orrin has returned!

I know you were joking and so was I. I haven't married because I am not ready and I haven't found the right person either. -
I agree with you on that Gabelpa. I spent a semester in France while studied abroad. Best experience I ever had. I did get sick and I was amazed at the fast treatment I recieved for a cold not to mention the cost for a doctor was only 25 Euros and the price of medication was about 15 Euros. I had a student health care insurance and it was all paid back but being unemployed with no insurance now in the states and having to pay 80 to 100 dollars for seeing a doctor for a cold and about 45 to 50 dollars for medcine. There is a diffrence in the cost and the care in Europe. I think the Health Care system here ought to be improved. It's just too cost prohibited to people who want treatement but can't afford it.

Trolls in the kingdom, Trolls in the kingdom
AngelLynn replied to Dove's topic in General Discussion
I like that actually. I remember belong to a forum, not LDS related btw, but someone started complaining about the mods and the way the forum was run. Suddenly the troll found themselves bombared by the dinosaur game. Which is an easy game to play you just put up random pics of Dinosaurs from off the web and try comparing it, for example if you have a yellow T-Rex you find another T-Rex or a dinosaur that's yellow. Anyway the point is that the forum had so much fun ignoreing the troll, the troll started to go ballstic and started pitching a fit and then the mod stepped in and stated something to the point that if there post had been posted in more of a kind attitude and not so disrespectful they would have respected their post and would not have made their post into a game. Not saying that this would work, but I just found it a very intresting way to deal with trolls. -

FAIRLDS has a really good part in their wiki devoted to Fallacies. I've been actually reading up on it a lot. I remember taking a Logic class in school, we had to study a few fallacies. Although in all truth I struggled really hard with that class because my logic didn't fit the professor's logic. Dang it all. I managed to pass, barely. I've run into Ex-Mormons lately hence the statement I gave earlier. One of the them rants and raves so much against the church, I just stated that I felt sorry for her and that to me she appeared just to be an angry ranting woman and I hoped that God would remove the sword that she had against Mormons. Never underestimate feeling a bit of sadness and showing a bit of remorse as well. Frankly I believe the power of love against hateful doctrine confounds many of them as they were expecting a fight not a bunch of people saying God Bless you and we love you anyway. Totally catches them off gaurd. Although I haven't tried the loveing approach for all Trolls, I am going to give it a bit more a chance as the Lord did state Love our Enemies. Besides all the anti-s doctrines are just words, nothing more nothing less. Words can only hurt us if we let them hurt us. -

Too true, too true. I think Ex-Mormon who are Anti-Mormons are the worse for bashing the faith. The saddest thing is that they've had the truth and then go out all guns blazing against the members. Joesph Smith was right about leaving neutral ground when you leave the church. -

AngelLynn replied to Dove's topic in General Discussion
I know it's not my fault. I just wanted to say I may have lured them over. Course if you put in LDS or Mormon in Google.... I agree. Plus they were loaded questions. All them were anti-Mormon. -
True but in another fact is that the church is not suppose to be caught up in poltical parties either. On the same point I do find many of the poltical stances by some church members baffling in context with some of the gospel teachings. Some of them do seem contradictory.

Somehow I feel like this maybe part of my doing. Over the past few days I've been getting involved with answering some ardent requests of people who I believed were honestly searching for the truth, on Yahoo Answers. (Not a very friendly place for anyone who is investigating any type of faith, particularly ours) I mentioned this site, in a hope that they would come here to ask true ardent questions from actual members. Unfortunetly the internet is not private. So we get the good with the bad. -
Hey Scared, I read your topic title and wondered what you could be so scared about in Vegas. As I live near Vegas, well Henderson and I love my community for the most part and then I read your post.... I am sorry that things have fallen apart for you here. Seek out the Bishop as everyone else has suggested. It also sounds like you need to seek out the church community around you as well. You sound isolated and sound like you need the guidence of friends at least in the Church in the Las Vegas area as well. I get the feeling that you also feel alone at least from the tone of your post. I could be wrong, but this is what I felt from your post.

Well as for hobbies, I like to write. I took two creative writing classes at my university before I graduated and I loved it. Yes, I've been looking at some freelance writing websites, but not sure whether they are reliable for one, I'd really would hate if someone took something I wrote and plagerized it as their own. So I really do question the legimacy of websites. I keep plugging away on a manuiscript of a story I am working on, I have some stories idea. So I haven't exactly been idle, although the process is painfully slow at times. Somedays a page, somedays no pages. You get the idea. Other hobbies, well I love to take pictures, but in that skill pretty amature. And then the only other thing I've done in the past is geneological work. I spent a good deal of time at the geneological library looking up my ancestors. I like to cook sometimes as well, although not really too much experimentation on things. I follow the cookbook mostly. Those are some of my hobbies that I like to do.
