Posting on an old thread is also considered bad netiquette unless it's necessary. A lot of forums lock old threads as standard to prevent it happening due to this.

Lol. Glad I don't listen to everything the sales people would have me believe... I'd be in a bit of a mess right now if I did

Is surfing the internet at work a form of theft?
Mahone replied to Suzie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I've worked in places before that have similar policies that RachelleDrew speaks about. My personal preference though is having a little bit more freedom than that. It depends completely on the employees you have, but I tend to find that if companies lock down their employees so they cannot do anything non-work related on company time, the employees in return won't give any of their own time for the company. However if they are allowed to answer that personal phone call and spend 10 minutes speaking to their sister, I tend to find they are more willing to do unpaid overtime should the company need it and are generally more flexible. It works both ways. -

If there is work to be done, and you're browsing facebook instead of doing that work then yes. If you are on your break, or there isn't anything useful that you could be doing right at that moment, then no it's not stealing morally. You may be using work equipment, but for 99% of businesses, it won't cost them any more than it would if you didn't browse the internet for personal usage. The above is also how we work in our department; our workload fluctuates somewhat, but if there is work to do, we do it. -
It'd be easier to answer that if we had direct reasons from both the doctors in the UK and the client, for each individual case. The NHS is not the only option people have here. Providing they have the money, they can go private and pretty much have what they want done and as soon as they like. Admittedly, the NHS is far from perfect. That's because people have abused it in recent years and now it is struggling under the strain. But the ideas behind it are brilliant and they used to work really well. My mum recently had to have a discectomy. The NHS wanted her to go through numerous tests which would have taken up to a couple of months, to be sure this was what she needed before going into surgery. With the amount of pain she was in, this was far from a perfect solution - but the most important thing is that it would have ended up being done on the NHS. She decided to go private in the end though to speed things up a bit due to the pain. The lack of haste of the part of the NHS is due to being completely snowed under.

That's because they aren't the same thing. Cadbury's gave Hershey a license to produce chocolate with the cadbury brand on it in the USA. Most Americans have never tasted real cadburys chocolate.

Lol, it's not good for the employees. Already Kraft have proven themselves to be dishonest as they promised to keep open a factory elsewhere in the UK that cadburys previous management were in the process of closing. Strangely enough, they took a U turn on that decision as soon as it was confirmed the takeover was successful. The unions are not happy.
-
Speaking of chocolate, you Americans had better look after Cadburys! After several centuries of being English, Cadburys was this month bought out by Kraft in a hostile takeover. Kraft made an offer to purchase Cadburys some time back, which was turned down. Kraft then went to the shareholders in a hostile bid to takeover the company, which succeeded and Cadburys was valued at $18.9 billion. This has hit a bit close to home for me, as Cadburys was founded in Birmingham where I live, and I work within walking distance of the Cadburys factory. It's a bit of a shock to know it's no longer English.

The above quote also applies to me. I regularly speak to my brother about it, but he denies he is addicted. While he spends a good deal of time each day playing xbox live, he has also been months without it in the past (under duress from his mother). While he may have been forced to quit, he didn't display any kind of withdrawal symptoms during the time he was without them. He also claims (which actually makes sense to some degree) that playing games has helped him in real life situations, for example: leadership skills. When you lead a gaming clan online, you have to manage them in a similar way you'd manage staff at work. So it's not all disadvantageous. The same applies to the ability to work as a team.

First step, remove husband from your room. Does the smell mysteriously disappear? -
Yes, strangely enough it was a fly. Why I had to pick something that is vermin and considered disgusting by most to be an imaginary friend, I have no idea.

I think we should start a petition to ban the person who voted "I don't like chocolate" for violation of rule #12, particularly the highlighted parts.

I have done it before more than once, as a child. I have also been known to talk quite a bit in my sleep, but sadly nothing of interest AFAIK. Anyone who happens to hear it usually has great fun telling me about it the next day though.

As far as I can tell from these types of sites, most of the jobs on there don't actually exist (or at least they don't exist in the way you think they do). It's not just scams either, agencies tend to "re-advertise" jobs that they see (without permission) and then publish them on free job websites such as craigslist. You submit your CV/Resume to them and they will then contact the company who advertised the job in the first place trying to effectively rent you out to them. Most companies will say no, hence why they didn't go to an agency in the first place. At other times the agency will just make up jobs in order to get a bigger database of potential recruitees - this is from the UK perspective of course, that is what they tend to do here. I'm not sure how it works over the pond.
-
Personally, I always go through the job description and requirements and on my cover letter I will explain why I meet each and every one of those requirements, one after the other - basically just providing evidence I can do the job without the recruiter having to look for it (if they have 200+ applicants, they won't have time to look at your application for very long). So far, it hasn't failed.
-
I know of a guy who has been unemployed for some considerable time now. He got so desperate that he started applying for 25+ jobs a day. This obviously means he was sending the same CV (resume) and basically the same application to each job he applied for, so it wasn't customised according to the job description and requirements - there was no time for anything else. It's easy to fall into this trap, rather than applying for as many as you can, apply for less, but take more time on each application.

I have a golden retriever, though she lives with my mum because my landlord doesn't want pets. As much as I like her, cleaning is sooooo much easier now I don't have to live with her. And my suits are now perfectly black as opposed to the black with golden flecks that occur after spending half an hour with her. Another of the same litter is also in the family, but lives with my grandmother. She was the runt of the litter (far smaller than the rest) though oddly enough she always appears to be the dominant one when they are together. (apologises about the bad quality pics)

Absolutely, as I said in post #13 - I already clarified this there :)
