  1. Ditto - I could add to what jamie123 said, but I think the point has been made.
  2. The church actually registered morman.org due to this being such a common misspelling.
  3. Interesting subject. I worked in the temple for a year and I remember having a discussion similar to this - someone mentioned that they can't just go shopping straight after work for instance after working all day (five days a week) in the temple. I understood what she meant, the contrast really can be fairly extreme. Before working there, I'd never realised exactly how dirty most public buildings actually are, or at least they appeared that way at the time.
  4. I'm a member of another forum where at least twice now, a thread has started on how selfish people are for throwing themselves in front of trains - the OP (and quite a few posters seem to be in agreement) states that if they plan on killing themselves, they should do it in a manner which doesn't affect so many other people, particularly those commuters who "suffer" from the transport delays that are caused as they "pick up the pieces". It's scary just how little empathy is shown by some people.
  5. One man's * is another man's * (insert favourite suitable words into wildcards)
  6. I don't know if there is an option in the forums personal settings somewhere to switch it off, I had a quick look but couldn't find anything straight away. But for those who it is really annoying, you can either use your browsers, routers or third party addons to your browser to block this web address: http://www.lds.net/footerbar/footerbar.php (I personally placed it into a third party ad-block addon in firefox to do it). Once that is blocked, bye bye footerbar :)
  7. special edition - Weebl's Stuff - Lord of The Rings, with all badger scenes fully restored
  8. For the star trek fans: BBC NEWS | Programmes | Newsnight | Newsnight Review | The man who lives in the Star Trek house Has he realised yet why his wife left him?
  9. Something we use at home to see how much our electricity usage is costing in both real time and on a daily and monthly basis - you can also connect it to a computer and produce some graphs to show the data more clearly: Efergy Elite Home Digital Wireless Electricity Monitor
  10. And my favourite: Home Decor for Absolute Geeks
  11. BBC NEWS | Technology | Apple unleashes Snow Leopard OS - While I'm still not a fan of macs, I've been impressed recently with how well they do actually integrate with windows machines on a network - you can do some pretty cool stuff with them.
  12. Google Latitude - a bit of a controversial one, that
  13. I think the purpose of it is easy accessibility - it's more convenient to have it "right there" so to speak. A number of people have mentioned it bothers them, I don't even notice it's there personally.
  14. That's brilliant. Very well made. Made in response to the knife culture we have in London and some other parts of the UK at the moment. Even though the comments are filtered, some of them still made me despair.
  15. No, exercise and swimming you can remove them - and with several other activites as well. It's just a case of using common sense really. Where is it feasible to wear it, you wear it.
  16. Whoops. You'd better not do anything naughty, brmecham. A moderator lives within butt kicking distance of you.
  17. Agreed. I agree with what prisonchaplain says too. While there are some bugs to be ironed out (there always is) the real reason why most people don't like it is because people in general don't like change. Once you get used to it, it'll be fine - look at the outcry that happened when facebook changed its layout, it seems that now most people have forgotten it ever happened.
  18. I wondered this too. I was trying to figure out how the thread title could even possible relate to the OP, but came out empty handed.
  19. (how to set up an interactive whiteboard for about $50)
  20. Whatever the reason for it, he isn't in control of himself - this may be due to a chemical imbalance, but he still isn't in control of himself. You even effectively use the term "self control" yourself - you just call it "internal control", but it's the same thing. I do not pretend to be an expert on addictions, but to say I haven't suffered with them would be wrong. However a subject in which I do know an awful lot about is computers - as the external control he used (covenant eyes) was computer related, I pointed out how easy it is to bypass and having had addictions myself, I knew he was going to end up looking for a way around it and that would be all too easy to do with that software. I could have specified another much more convenient way for him to bypass covenant eyes using the same computer it was installed on, rather than having to find a different device in which to access the internet. No-one has yet managed to tell me why what I said was taken in such a bad way - the questions I asked have not been answered.
  21. Forgive me if I sound a little more blunt than normal, but I did get told off for warning you this would happen. Both myself and elohel recommended solutions that would have solved this, but they were ignored and you claimed you were happy with what you had.
  22. Very hard work by the sound of it. Congrats Pam :)
  23. A jailbroken one will.
  24. Usually the money related spam is links to webpages, their purpose is primarily SEO. From the little I saw of the spam yesterday (I was at work so only saw a couple of brief posts via e-mail) it was designed to be vulgar. The words were carefully chosen to attempt to cause as much offense as possible, due to the nature of this forum. The links were pictures, as opposed to webpages, and they were also just as vulgar - from what I saw, there were no real benefits to the culprits other than trying to cause offense. Looking at the differences in time between the posts, it would suggest it was done manually as opposed to a bot - contrary to how prolific spammers normally work. It looked to me like someone had a score to settle with this forum. It's not unusual by any means for websites devoted to such a controversial topic such as religion. You are right though, it is very sad whatever the reason.
  25. I wonder if this was a result of banning a certain member who wasn't very happy about the ban.
