  1. Me too. Though I do seem to be in a minority. We haven't had any drastic weather around here recently, other than some minor gales. I live in a fairly boring location weatherwise. We are lucky to get snow twice throughout each winter.
  2. That one is from mythbusters for those who might have seen it.
  3. I have to agree
  4. I don't see this as a bad thing. If I can get a view of both sides of the coin, then I will. Then I'll make up my mind and form my own opinions based on what I have read from both points of view. Normally in life, you would chose to do research on any organisations or businesses that you are going to spend large parts of your life dealing or associating with. You'd then read what they say about themselves and then make your decisions. For a lot of people, the church is different - you are considered to be in the wrong if you dare seek information which could be considered to show the church in a negative light. In my opinion, the church is no different. I'll reseach them just like I research any other organisation. The fact that the church does generally recommend not to do this doesn't really do much to help get rid of the negative bias a lot of people have regarding the church - it just emphasizes to them that the church has something to hide, whether that is true or not.
  5. Hmmm. I was into prison break at the time of signing up to this forum, and Alexander Mahone is my favourite character.
  6. I try not to debate with you too much because you scare me in a way that most people can't; you remind me of my mum - your opinion and responses to most threads are exactly what she would say.
  7. Which bit of it?
  8. Lol, most people come on here because of lack of other things to do at that moment. I would certainly hope an internet forum wasn't a priority in anyones life anyway. Debate makes this place fun, even if it's not over anything important
  9. The same reason we do not broadcast the endowment for the world to see. No point in giving people something just so they can mock it, hence the request for further info.
  10. John Doe the moderator? Well it's all coming out now - always thought he was very devious
  11. It would still be nice to know what it was for - e.g. if someone asks for money for a charity, I usually ask which one, not just hand the money over
  12. I normally think Pam is a little paranoid on these issues, but here I do find myself agreeing with her A little more detail and explanation from the OP would have been nice if she expects people to spend their time filling it out.
  13. It's a 15 here. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, I really enjoyed it. Going to the movies/cinema is nice, but nothing beats going to the theatre. And I don't mean the mini ones, they are just not the same. Unfortunately I only get go about twice a year - the last play I saw was blood brothers, it really was good.
  14. If that happened to me, I'd simply continue as normal, ignoring any repetitive correspondence, let them take me to court and watch how embarassed they get when the media get hold of the story, just like they have now. There is no way they could send her to prison after that, even if what she is doing is theoretically against the law.
  15. Good point! I'm not used to working with XP home, I keep forgetting how much microsoft stripped out of it. There are ways to enable both features on XP home, but if you haven't already tried it (I suspect you probably have) a much more simple way you could try is just to put their account in the limited users group. I don't remember off hand exactly what restrictions this enforces, I prefer to do things manually. Regarding the issue you mentioned of you kid changing start menu and desktop icons, you can enforce restrictions on the all users start menu and desktop folders, so they can add/delete start menu icons to their own account, not everyones - this can be done in xp home too, but you need to boot up into safe mode and log in as administrator to see the option to do it.
  16. Depending on your OS you can severely limit the account that your kids use. In XP you can use gpedit and file permissions to lock down their accounts. Be very careful with this. You can REALLY screw up your computer if you do it wrong.
  17. We need a union for forum members. I think lilered should be our leader.
  18. I would argue that school exams are not necessarily an accurate representation of a persons knowledge or understanding of a subject and are overrated by prospective employers. There are many more factors involved in passing school exams other than knowledge and understanding of the subject. Many of those that fail really deserved to pass and likewise some who passed probably didn't really have enough understanding of the subject to deserve the the qualification.
  19. You tell 'em!
  20. I have to say, most complaints about issues relating to President Obama I just shrug off and dismiss as an over reaction. This however did make me raise my eyebrows a bit. But, as maxel said, I doubt this was initiated by the presidents office.
  21. There has been a new study done recently as well. The year you were born in reflects on how intelligent you are. 1950: "Queen's English means the standard form of either written or spoken British English regarded as correct." 1995: "Queen's en means d std 4m of Itha ritn or spokn brit en regarded as crrct"
