  1. I used to own gerbils, they are so cute... Oh and where is a conversastion about Chinese food (I *love* it) without MSG? When we lived near Boston my husband and I went to Chinatown frequently. And we saw a bag of MSG... It is a white powder BTW and is unbelievably bad for you...our favorite Chinese restaurant The New Great Wall serves its food without it but I am health unconscious enough not to care. Ans raamen noodles...we get the authentic ones from Chinatown...nothing but the best badness for us! Oh and the *real* stuff is good...I have had dim sum in an authentic Chinese restaurant with a Japanese friend...I was the the only white person there...good stuff but I don't recommend the chicken feet...three breaded toes... oh and I *may* try dog...cat, no.
  2. Oh and BTW rameumptom I did not laugh at your post but your avatar...I miss Bloom County. *ACK*
  3. Does it make it any meaner if I say the Scotsman calls the fly questions the fly's parentage and the marital status of his mother at the time of his conception?
  4. Hee hee when they are making out...in her *bed* and her in her *undies* ...sorry... but is that Carlisle saying "stop?" ...I know she is not that strong so it must have been someone else...and I was surprised about the underwear thing...and any other reactions to the Edward as creepy stalker topic? I am surprised that did not come up. And sorry if I misspelled good Carlisle's name, I know there is an s in there...
  5. Oh and by the way, what is PST...ignorant me will hush her bad self and mot make up silly meanings of what that could mean in case it is serious...
  6. My family was *not* happy...at first. My father yelled and my mom was so upset she went upstairs to be alone. But then they saw how the Church affected my life and made me a better (I hope), happier person. My atheist sister was the one who convinced my mom that I was an adult and that mom had to let me make my own decisions. Now I am sure she knows the Church is true but will not admit it...she denies the distinct impression she got after leaving the house of two families in my ward here that "Ye shall know them by their fruits." I hope you fit in, just find the right friends, we can be cliquey and snootish but we can also be the best friends you will ever have. If you join and I truly hope you do, just let your life speak for itself and people will see the changes. Even if they don't want to admit it. There will almost certainly be tension at first, but it will most likely clear up if you mean what you do.
  7. ok the bigoted version is in the proper thread. Sorry I like the dumb confusing one better, I hope I did not offend, no more bigoted jokes for me...
  8. ok, this is the true, bigoted version upon request... an Englishman, an American and a Scotsman walk into a bar... they all order an alcoholic beverage and each finds a fly... The Englishman sends it back complaining. The American takes the fly out and drinks it. The Scotsman says "Spit it out you (explitive)" ...sorry I like the dumb one better as my brother in law is Scottish. and I hope I did not offend anyone...no more bigoted jokes for me, but thanks for the link.
  9. Now I have Indian brides...but I am still not official.
  10. Maybe a light cotton one? :)
  11. Scriptures, church magaznes, talks and much more are at lds.org
  12. I wouldn't nurse a child at the age of 2 but that is just me...I woldn't go too far past one year. And there are blankets, I will not bother with fancy hiders although I am sure they are great. And unless you were getting naked in sacrament I think they ought to chill.
  13. Hello Krishna I do not know much about Hare Krisnas as I have read very little of the Bhagavad Gita...more of the Tao Te Ching...but I do like to learn even though I love and believe wholeheartedly that the LDS Church is true. Welcome.:)
  14. I think it is in the spirit in which we read the scriptures...if we want blessings and instruction we will get it and if we are looking for "mistakes" we will find them. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide, as the person said, prophecy. For instance there are two proverbs that go something like Give ear to a fool so he can see the error of his ways then almost immediately Do not give ear to a fool or he will be wise in his own eyes... OK this is obviously contradictory so I am an atheist? Or, as my wise but still very Baptist father said, "Darned if you do darned if you don't"
  15. Sorry I was confused...Green Day is also a pop "punk" band...I knew there were not punk activities...sorry. *goes back where she belongs*
  16. So...I don't want to be bigoted so I will mix up the nationalities except for the American, because I am one... And I have to Mormonize it *again* So an American, an umm Ukranian and a person from Antartica go to a...ward dinner for some...Mormon Red Death Punch. They all ask for some but there is a fly in each one of the three. The Ukranian says "there is a fly in my punch, that is disguisting, take it away, throw it in a biohazard sealed container and call the Stake President! The American looks at the fly, takes it out with his fingers, shrugs and drinks the punch. My husband, bless his soul, drinks down the whole thing fly and all to gross people out and says, "MMMMMMM, protein!" The man from Antartica, if there are any (I think not) pulls the fly from the punch enraged, and screams "spit it out, you heathen dirty little &^#%@^ fly!" and is disciplined for cussing in church. Hey, Mormonizing and embellishing jokes to a ridiculous level is fun...let me know if you want to hear the original, but I am reluctant to provide "authentic" nationalities...
  17. I am going to do grad school at the University of Phoenix BTW. I would rather do it in person but unfortunately my husband does not feel prompted to move at this time even though I would except for the health of one of his elder family members. Here where I am in Maine there are *no* jobs...McDonalds is perfectly honorable but as Joe says I did not remain a professional student way too long to ask "Dost thou desire fries with thine Big Mac, good sir?" I did my 2 years. I need a job that is stimulating, challenging, and helps others...maybe corny but a need for me. Good for you for following the prompting, where there is a prompting there is a way, He would not ask you to do the impossible. The difficult, demanding, and requiring of sacrifice of you and yours but not the impossible and it will be worth it since it was from him, and from what I hear it was...temple revelations tend to be kind of reliable. and a mildly cussing Mormon emoticon? J. Golden Kimball and my husband would be proud...
  18. I am sorry Mr President, you cannot prove you are over 21... Mitt Romney on the other hand, if it is any of my busniess...
  19. Oh sorry I am a little slow...ok a lot. doppelganger... in honor of a friend.:)
  20. Yes, but I do admit it has a certain cheese factor read it does not have aloud... Jokes lose something in written translation, especially the sound ones and puns too...I never know which spelling to use, it kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
  21. I don't blame you it is rude to drop by unannounced and when one is asked not to. When mine come by...rarely if ever...they tell me and are great. My first ones were great but until these I was not visit taught for over 4 years...at all. I try but could do better...the say I do well. I like it as I am very social. I just wish I did not get changed around so often although now I may have a living ray of sunshine who used to be the Bishop's wife and is now the wife of someone in the presidency. YAY!!!!! They don't know who my new ones are exactly. I used to have 2 companions but they thought that was too much even though I am extremely underemployed and said I didn't mind. The Home Teaching program in my ward is much more strict and my companionless elderly home teacher comes faithfully every month and is fantastic...no real teaching but great stores about hunting, fishing and his *ahem* exes. Quite a man and I hope we never lose him and it is said we will not. His companion used to be a member and a temple worker but was married to a woman who stopped taking her psychiatric medication and they divorced. She is back but he has remarried and requested excommunication to be with his wife. Really sad since when my uncle died he was the only one with a kind word even when my sister in law said something cruel to me about it. ...and he used to work in the temple, you never know.
  22. OK so I saw it 4x...*ducks from rotten stinky tomatoes* And sorry I think Edward is *very* attractive...I like odd, also like Snape a lot *blushes*...yeah I tend to like jerks, lucky I didn't marry one. Anyway I like the Asian boy (not Asian in the books I did not read) and the Native American guy *much* better than Edward...hello, he is a stalker! and :eek:she is ok with that? I know, the whole protection thing but he *likes to watch her sleep*...creepy. And she is *also* ok with him *bragging and joking* about her blood being his own personal brand of heroin...do we forget he was trying to decide whether to kill her or her classmates first??? OK I read Midnight Sun, in 2 sittings, good but got dull. If I were Bella I would stick with the werewolf although I am sure there are things I do not know...and I do feel kind of bad for reading a stolen unfinished manuscript except for the fact I believe it was on her official site. Oh and Harry Potter was better...except the music in the first one with the new director. All right but did not fit. And Snape...I'd take potions...and probably fail. Alan Rickman has an amazing voice...
  23. I am *still* not official...since when does a married woman get Russian Brides requests...I hope that is not inappropriate but I have at least *3* requests to marry one!!!!!

    Infertility

When we got married neither of us wanted children. Then I changed my mind and eventually he did. Reluctantly at first but now I think he is more enthusiastic. Due to my own health problems I cannot bear my own children...which is actually ok for me considering the whole pregnancy/childbirth thing... We would like to adopt but are...non traditional. How many LDS men have beards and long hair and how many LDS couples love punk music and are morally conservative but socially ultra-leftists?? We believe the Church is true but *really* are not into the culture. So who would want us raising their baby??? Any child of ours may be poor but will think for him/her self and get a good education. We do not wish to change to get a baby except for the better and asking my husband to shave or get a haircut is like asking the sky not to be up. I know we need more money even though people whimsically tell us "it will happen" which may be true to an extent but I would really like to be prepared. I do not wish to hijack this thread but I am also saying you are not alone...although advice would be helpful. The descriptions I saw on LDS Family Services of couples trying to adopt were sweet, but, and I apologize, very smarmy. We are not smarmy people. We are however creative and have good values, in our opinion, such as honesty, hard work, looyalty and of course love for our Savior. But we are poor and weird...and proud of it.
