  1. OMH...HAHAHAHA HA!!!! LOL Just wanted to ask who DOESN'T ever show random acts of kindness to others in their everyday lives? Isn't that what we are SUPPOSED to do? ← A Yeah. But in this crazy mixed up world that we live in it is a more about ME way of life. I think it is nice to have a RAKed frame of mind. One good deed turns into another. In Utah it is every driver for him self. I have tried to be more considerate to my fellow drivers and in turn they might not kick the dog when they get home. It starts small but the ripple effect can be great. It's great when you get the unexpected RAK. I think that if we all did at least three small things a day we could help to change the ME mentality. ← You know I was getting so tired of the Utah drivers rudeness... then I spent a week down in St George and everyone was soooooooo curtious I just about died from shock... I came back determined to be a nice driver... and I have ... and I have seen some improvement here... ← I LOVE St George feels like home to me. It has a very laid back atmosphere, it's just wonderful ← Me too... if we don't move to Arizona then we will move to St George... but that is next year.... ← Hey, look me up when you get there. You better get a place there pretty quick the prices are going up thousands each month.
  2. LOL I dont think I've ever met you before. Or chatted with you. How have I regaled you with flights of fancy again? What name do you remember from the old place? And about naming places....of course that wouldnt be posted. What do you think, that we have Geraldo Rivera with us? Lets see....what else?.... I am that I am? LOL Dont worry, just because you dont belive something doesnt mean its not true. ← Well well this must be some of "The Other's" Roseslipper told us about.

  8. SF, do you need my address? My lawn sure needs mowed right now, and I don't know if I'll be able to do it before November. The cookies sound good, too. ← The Lawn? cough cough I don't do lawns. Sure, give me your address and I will bring you some cookies with a nice note.
  9. Setheus, I don't understand what you mean...Please explain ← Its a play on words...to be "racked" is to be struck in the groin....not a kind thing.. But, Random Act of Kindness turns into the acronym RAK....sounds like "rack"... You've been RAKed!!! get it? ok its not funny now that I've had to dicect it. ← Well I for one am glad that you explained it. When you first said it I felt kind of dirty.
  10. I agree we do need to change the habit of what is said in Testimony meeting.
  11. Random....Act....Kindness... You've been RAKed!!!! ← Setheus, I don't understand what you mean...Please explain
  12. Yeah it was really neat. At the time that it was happening my husband and I keep looking between them and each other...we couldn't believe that it was happening. What was just a surprising is they didn't want anything in return, they just smiled and left. On occasion we have done nice things for other people. We have Taken a bag of groceries and left them on the front doorstep to those who were having hard times. Paid for the meal for the people behind us in a drive through. Sent money to those who need it. A plate of cookies with a nice note. What are some other ways to show random acts of kindness? I don't sing for people either.
  13. Oh Marsha, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I will pray for him and those who lve him.
  14. Hey Welcome Back Username! Why did you leave?
  15. How is your dad doing?
  16. Wow. You sure have a lot to deal with. Would it help for you to share this experience with us? This message board can be a tool for getting things off your chest as many do at one time or another. How old are your children? How long have you known about the cancer? Do you have a great support system already? I HATE cancer. Lung Cancer robbed many years from my mother who died a few years ago at the age of 63. What are they doing as far as treatment options for you? I will pray for you and your family. I am so happy that you are able to feel the love of our Heavenly Father. Hugs, SF ← ← What an inspiration you are! Beat Wishes to you and your new formed family. :) Keep us updated on how you are feeling.
  17. Visiting Teaching Message: Rejoice in the Knowledge of Eternal Families “Rejoice in the Knowledge of Eternal Families,” Ensign, Oct. 2005, 53 Prayerfully select and read from this message the scriptures and teachings that meet the needs of the sisters you visit. Share your experiences and testimony. Invite those you teach to do the same. The Prophet Joseph Smith: “The Great Parent of the universe looks upon the whole of the human family with a fatherly care and paternal regard; He views them as His offspring” (History of the Church, 4:595). What Is God’s Plan for Families? The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally” (“The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” Liahona, Oct. 2004, 49; Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102). President Gordon B. Hinckley: “Temple work is concerned with the family, with each of us as members of God’s eternal family and with each of us as members of earthly families. It is concerned with the sanctity and eternal nature of the marriage covenant and family relationships. … Since every man and woman is a child of a Heavenly Father, then each is a member of a divine family; hence, every person is his brother or sister” (“Why These Temples?” Tambuli, June 1992, 4; see Ensign, Aug. 1974, 39). D&C 110:14–15: “Behold, the time has fully come, which was spoken of by the mouth of Malachi—testifying that he [Elijah] should be sent, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord come—to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers.” How Can I Receive the Blessings of an Eternal Family? President Joseph F. Smith (1838–1918): “Our [family] associations are not exclusively intended for this life. … Our affections and our desires are found fitted and prepared to endure … through all eternity” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 385–86). Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “An eternal bond doesn’t just happen as a result of sealing covenants we make in the temple. How we conduct ourselves in this life will determine what we will be in all the eternities to come. To receive the blessings of the sealing that our Heavenly Father has given to us, we have to keep the commandments and conduct ourselves in such a way that our families will want to live with us in the eternities” (“The Eternal Family,” Ensign, Nov. 1996, 65). Anne C. Pingree, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency: “When a woman chooses to have Christ at the center of her own heart, at the nucleus of her personal world, she brings the Lord into the core of her home and family, be it a family of one or a family of many. Wherever she lives and whatever her circumstances, as the heart of the home and the family, what is in each woman’s heart is reflected in the environment and spirit of her home” (“Choose Ye Therefore Christ the Lord,” Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2003, 110). 18. Tonight hubby and i went out to dinner at Noodles and Company. We had been eating and visiting when I noticed 5 people walk through the door. The group consisted of 3 females and 2 males, the leader or the woman in front asked if they could have a few minutes of our time. My hubby said with a smile ok maybe a few minutes. They said not worry we also have a gift as they broke three sunflowers from the bouquet that one of them was holding. Two of the females got on their knees and they began to sing "You Are My Sunshine" all verses! While they were singing they had the biggest smiles as they looked at each one of us in our eyes. When the song was finished we thanked them and they said "You are welcome, have a nice night" and they left the restaurant. It was awesome and very random, nobody else was sang to in that restaurant. I wanted to share this experience with you and encourage all of us to do some random act of kindness in the very near future.
  19. Did I miss something? Cookies? What chu talkin' bout? I'll look into the book at Costco, Heather. Thanks! There are a million recipes online, but I hate when I choose a recipe and it isn't good. That's why I like to get suggestions from people who have tried it already. For that reason, one website I love is www.allrecipes.com. All of their recipes are reviewed and rated. They also have an online recipe box where you can save any that you want... and they have thousands of recipes. ← LOL... wow I must be more distracted than I realized... with losing my book and all... I read cooking as cookies.... sorry... LOL ← Yeah, I wondered about that one too. Please, what will you do about your book?
  20. Wow Shanstress and AZ... I so agree... life is fragile. I hope and pray for all of us that we will be able to over come... I know only one thing about cancer... it thrives in an acidic environment and that eating lots of broccoli, spinach, cabbage, carrots... and other things that fight acid in the body... and avoiding acidic foods helps... to prevent and even cure some cancers... ← Interesting Please, I didn't know that about the acid factor and cancer, Thanks for sharing that, :)
  21. Thanks for the website shanstress. I enjoy using a crockpot as well it is nice to know that dinner is cooking and taken care of early in the day. When we used to go places in our trailer we would use a crock pot then too. Before we left for the day on an adventure we qwould punt dinner into cook. We pit chicken breasts on the bottom then layered carrots potatoes, onions and mushrooms in the top. Lastly we would but one can of mushroom, and one can of cream of chicken soup on the top of the layers with no water. We had the largest crockpot we could find to do the whole meal inside. With some rolls we had a great meal that was ready when we walked into the trailor and the smell made us even more hungry mmmm. :)
