  1. okHOW has the U of U been mishandling BYU? Do they cheat? Do they injure them? Do they steal their girlfriends?
  2. Is it Napoleon Dynamite? It's pretty small. Did you see the movie? When did you become a Mod?
  3. Yes, so I have heard. :) I was just wondering what Snow meant by his mishandling comment above. I am not a follower of many sports, but I do enjoy a good party. I don't like anyone mishandling anybody...for me it is play fair or not at all. :)
  4. I don't think there is a wrong answer here. If you don't go on the camp out do you have other plans? If you go with the teachers you will probably have a good time if you have had fun in the past with them. It would be really sad if you stayed home and then did nothing at all.
  5. This is Big for U of U trying to make it to the Fiesta Bowl. Basket Ball is a Dangerous Sport for the Fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/
  6. I do believe that their are geeks similar to these in the movie…although maybe not as self assured.Having only seen this movie one time I am a little confused. It may not be as knowledgeable about this as some of you. This is what I took from this movie: Yes there are some geeks in this movie and they do group together. I don't think that they believe they are geeks. They are just kids being themselves and they don't see themselves as different at all. The two main geeks ask the most popular girls to the dance and they are sincere in their approach. One of the geeks decides to run for student body office and you know how that turns out. The geeks rejoice and win and the end just for being who they are. In actuality nobody really admires those who need to be fake everyday of their lives just to be popular. Even popular kids have some geeky traits; they are just more concerned about what others think, so they keep themselves in check. What is being popular after all? Who sets the standards for being popular? In being popular, is it required that you separate yourself socially from some other kids? It would be such a great thing if all students understood that their life in school is such a small percentage of their lives. Once you are out of high school the things you thought were so important don't matter anymore.
  7. Poor Guy.
  8. Btw, I consider the "chosenness" to be both a reward and a responsibility, and one that I am willing and happy to bear. And as far as being "better" than everyone else, I will say that the worth of a human soul is in proportion to it's potential to become exalted, and since some people aren't even interested, some people have more potential than others. Wait, Hold the phone...did I miss something here... Your Chosenness? Is that anything like Your Holiness? "This is something you are willing and happy to bear?" Did someone indicate that you were better then anyone else? Ray, you aren't full of yourself are you? BTW, I think your swell.
  9. Traveler,I enjoyed your post as I always do. Am I correct in my summary? !. Our Father in Heaven has become as such just for our benefit. 2. In order for us to become one with God, we must not only love others, we must serve unselfishly just as he has done for us. 3. For us to be able to live in the presence of Him, we must acquire enough goodness here while we are on earth. In acquiring that goodness, we must make sacrifices for the benefit of others, love and serve, just as our Father in Heaven does for us. We must become like Him, therefore holding His image in our countenance.
  10. Jenda,See the link that I gave above.
  11. We just have the added bonus of also having a very loving, personal God. Who wouldn't want to worship a God like that? (if they truly believed in one.) Throughout human history, people have worshipped the forces of nature in the form of idols out of fear. We have the unique experience of worshipping one God out of love. Amen.
  12. Very lovely response Strawberry. I love it. Thanks. :)
  13. Great idea, although not original. LIVE STRONG bands were a hot item and they crossed over so many barriers. I wonder if the dame will be true for CTR bands sold in green or white.
  14. Franken, What is your signiture about? Is it something upside down?
  15. I wished that I would have known about the extended scene! I guess that I will have to see it again... Any news of when it will be available for sale, my daughter really wants it. I think that my daughter and her friend enjoyed watching my husband and I seeing it for the first time. She has seen it three times already. I still am not sure if Kip's internet girlfriend is a woman or not. What about Tina the fat lard? Or the cow...with the passing school bus!!!! I have heard kids talking about tots and other one liners but what got me to go was the foo foo ladies I had lunch with yesterday. The foo foo ladies are my friends in the ward who get together and have lunch or go shopping. My husband has lovingly given them the name and now we have become an organization. I wonder where this movie has been the best received. It sure was not expensive to make, they didn't even do anything to update the house they lived in. One of the first things I noticed was the bobcat that hung on the wall; we used to have one just like it on our wall in the 70's. The suit that he buys at the D.I. (loved that part) looked similar to one my husband owned when he took me to a dance in high school. Want to know more? http://sundance.weblogsinc.com/entry/3463694269313459/

  17. We seldom, if ever, go to movies but tonight we saw this movie that we had heard so much about. I thought that I had seen another post about this movie but I can't find it. Has anyone seen this movie and what did you think?
  18. Thanks Ray. :)
  19. Funny you should ask that. :) I have been thinking about that and the answer would be yes. I can say without question that these past two years have made me feel older beyond my years. I can also say that my trials have also brought me a greater appreciation for things and I believe that to be wise.
  20. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. To me, simply put; God is Love. Anything else, not in the realm of Love, is not God. When you show Love in all things; you are one with God.
  22. Lets just say the Lord gives you what you are looking for. If you want the truth, you will be given the truth. If you want your church to be the true one, the Lord will give you an assurance that it is. Humilty is key. I have always had a slight problem with one faith or other, announcing very loudly, that their church is the only true church. It's kind of what I envisioned as I have read the Joseph Smith Story, "Come follow us because we have the truth that will free you from sin and evil" I agree Humility IS Key. I do believe the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints to be the true church because the spirit has testified this to me. That is not to say that other churches do not also have some of those truths. I don't like the visualization of an overzealous priesthood holder, standing on his soapbox; saying that he will pray for others to understand the truth, the way he views it, or they can not be saved. When Christ was here on the earth, he taught by example, love and caring. He didn’t try to frighten others into following him. They followed him because he was gentle. Christ’s authority was always there, but he didn't need to shout to make people listen to Him. Jesus Christ is the supreme authority holder, who has lived on this earth, and I will choose to follow His example.
  23. Great question ST:DS9! This is what I perceive Jendas post to mean. Although we will not me "dealt the same cards" in the life, we will all have the same opportunity to make it back to live with Him. Respecter of persons, is not unjust, because when we are sent to earth we are not persons...we are His spirit children with souls. That makes it possible for Him to love us all equally, in us being his children. The real value come to us, when we work through a problem, or a trial in our lives, we become strong, and shine from within. This is the way we find our way back to Him is through this inner light.
  24. Spencer, I think that it awesome that you will be spending time with your family and especially your grandma. There is just something about a grandma that makes us feel so very special. One of my grandma's used to take care of me when my parents went out of town. She made me dolls out of the flowers of a trumpet vine. She was a great cook and she loved quilting, and all manor of home keeping. She passed away on July 24th; Pioneer's Day 2000. Both my husband and I woke up early at an odd time for the holiday. Later, when my mom called, I knew why she was calling, and the time my grandma died. I still feel very close to my grandma and think of my times with her often. How I think of it as my grandma lives on in the lives of her children and grandchild...she left a wonderful legacy. Tell everyone how much they mean to you, every chance you get. For some reason, people just don't get tired of having others tell them how great they are. Lindy, are you having thanksgiving with your girls and their families? Ray, it sounds like you will be having a nice holiday. Do you help with the meal or is it just the women who prepare the food. My husband has his specialties and when it comes time for clean up he is especially good. Jenda, I believe I read that you might be alone for Thanksgiving, I hope not. You are welcome at my house if you can make the trip, we may even have snow (the white fluffy stuff). :)
