  1. As members of the church this new policy reflects on all of us. I do not feel like this reflects well upon the members. This is the first time I have ever felt shame as a member of the church. I know and care greatly about many who will be hurt my this new policy. It also gives further ammunition to ex-Mormons and people who have guilt for not living the gospel as they should. What about those who question the church being Christian? The wheat and the tares? I don't believe in following blindly. I will be giving this topic great prayer and pondering. Currently this policy does not feel like it is rooted in the pure love of Christ. For those of you who don't know me, I have been a member of this site since 2003. I have not posted much for the last few years and the format has changed greatly. I have been richly blessed through my membership in the church and have written many posts in support. I'm am just shocked by the recent announcements, especially after our leaders have preached love and tolerance to those who do not live as we do. Feeling Heartbroken, StrawberryFields
  2. Looking for the Christ-like reasoning for this new policy. It seems that the word from the leaders of the church, want us to keep our head down, following in faith. I grew up in a less active but very supportive home. I was blessed and baptized and given the gift of The Holy Ghost. I needed that gift and the teachings of the church in my young life. I later married my high school sweetheart after he served a two year mission. We have three children who were born under the covenant. The two who are married have been sealed to their spouses in the temple. This new policy makes me wonder how different my life might have been if the church had a policy in place that said if you came from a less active home you could not be baptized until you turned 18.
  3. Honor, I will try doing a message here. I want to have a back and forth dialog on FB on the message but didn't say what it was about. LOL I still have the same number if you want to text me. Also, I don't think anything here is totally private being an ex-mod haha! I could be wrong though, the entire layout is different.
  4. Hey, I am still Forever Strawberry Fields! Website launching soon! Seriously! I have been trying to get a hold of Honor in like FOREVER! I wanted to tell her that she dated my son before she got married! Here's a hint..... Basement Kitchen, family room, river Rock fireplace, 70 inch big screen. Total cabin feel, cedar slats on the wall, pine trees. Honor, does this ring a bell? LOL!
  5. This might be fun! I wish I could get Elphaba to come, she won't even answer my calls! If she doesn't come I'll try to come stag? It's been many years since I've been. Two questions. When did everything including the layout change? Who is doing all of the cute quotes and the FB page? One more thing... Is Pale coming? LOL
  6. You say that you know that you have been forgiven. If that is so, that part that many people get hung up on is forgiving themselves. The part where you say you are constantly worried that the sin will comeback to haunt you is scary. Have you ever heard that what you think about expands? In other words if you keep worrying about this you could be creating a self full feeling prophecy. Be careful what you focus on. Like others above have said, there are certain things that must be cleared up with the help of your bishop. Hang in there, and be open to answers.
  7. What constitutes inactivity? Can a person or family be overwhelmed by excessive downtrend of bad luck, and not attend as many meetings as they used to and still be considered active? Is being active having and bearing witness of a testimony or is more based in being seen in church?
  8. Wow. When I first saw the topic "Palerider" opened by "Palerider" I was thinking he was being a bit narcissistic lol. I happy to see that the rider who is pale, still lives!
  9. I'm really disappointed Roseslipper. I haven't been here in over a year, but I was excited to see your name beginning this topic. I thought that you had found Mr. Right. Side note: the forum looks really different and what's a warning point? It sounds a bit like shingles....
  10. I agree with this. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. I learned at an early age that if I did something wrong I'd receive a black mark in heaven... That had me holding to the iron rod more times than not. Looking back, those principals I held onto set me on the right path with high goals. Something to consider. Faith and Fear are opposites. You must choose.
  11. Congrats on the promotion! :) Sorry to hear about your loss, I'm an orphan too. Have you ever seen a chicken run around without a head while it bleeds out? I did as a child and it's something I have never forgotten. Loved reading both yours and Pales updates!
  12. Wowsers Mr. Palerider! Your soon going to be an empty nester. Is it really possible that you are closing in on 17000 posts?!?! LoL!
  13. Hey Souley, it sounds like you might be on borrowed time?
  14. Wow Canuck, I'm sorry to hear about your difficulty building your family. Thanks for the update. :) A new house, and a new puppy, that's great! Teenagers are a lot of fun too! Hey Pam, thanks for the heads up on the avatar issue. I'll keep it like it is.
  15. Bottom line, he does not respect you. Some therapists would tell you to detach yourself from him each time he does something to hurt you. Carry on like nothing is wrong, but you have your own hobby you are involved with. We can not change the behavior of another, only we can change the way in which we react to their behavior. I'm sorry, you have to deal with that. You might have mentioned it but how long have you been married?
  16. It's great to see so many pretty faces here I remember! How come nobody else has given us an update as to the events in their live? What's up with that? Ok, I get that some might be a little shy about giving to much of their private selves away... Maybe you can tell me if you still have fun here.:)
  17. Hey Pam, do you still have the powers to clear my avatar? I still see the rosé and I know I changed that one years ago.
  18. Iggy, are you living in Washington state? I want to travel there this year.
  19. Since August 2011 we have nearly lost our son Nick twice. August 2011 -Severe Bacterial Meningitis. We found him unconscious in our home when he had just gone to bed with a bad headache . That night they gave him a 10% chance of survival. We brought him about 2 weeks later still giving him IV antibiotics . He had a CFS leak the reason he got meningitis , which needed to be repaired. His first surgery for that was April 2012. He had to follow up surgeries and eye surgery. Seven hospital stays. Four ambulance rides sine then. He had another very frightening surgery when he hit his head falling and causing an epidural hematoma . We was within minutes of not getting treatment in time to save his life. He was a 3 which is the lowest you can get on a glasco coma scale. That was just this year at the first of February . This has been hard, very hard. The current issue for Nick is Tension Pneumacephlus. We are praying the doctors come to a united decision , for the best long term goal of independence for Nick.
  20. Pam, so good to see you! Good times we've had over the years!! Has someone snagged you, maybe a waiter?!?! The grand babies are great! I have four now, 3 Girls and 1 Boy. :)
  21. Thanks classy lady! I'm sure you have been well liked here.:)
  22. Hello Friends I'm still alive! We used to have so much fun here. Made many great long term friends and spent a good part of my days here. Real life has kept me busy for almost 2 full years. Health issues mostly, but I continue to learn and grow! Anyone still remember me? :)

    Lakers

Awww "T", that's not good! So sorry to hear about that. How did you break three ribs? My hubby did that on a water weenie years ago at Lake Powell. He went back to the house boat and wrapped himself (with help of course) with duct tape for support. He should have put a t-shirt on before applying the tape, but he was with a bunch of guys and didn't think about the tape coming off.... I hope you can find relief for the pain. Laughing hurts, so stay away from that if possible. :) Here is a link to an update I just wrote on our family. http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/46772-greetings-salutations-playlists.html#post674123
