Should We Tighten Up On Some Of Our Posts?
DisRuptive1 replied to Spencer's topic in General Discussion
I'm a definate yes, only for the spam though.. Everyone postings, "Oh that was a great post" or, "I agree totally with that" and not backing it up really add nothing to a thread other than length. -
Very few kids come here anyways. THe ones that are old enough to be online usually go somewhere else or act like adults in the more adult forums.

Why do you agree with it, Please?

I really haven't done much with the movie thing recently but I have in the past. I saw the Matrix Reloaded a couple months before it hit theatres. Someone who worked on the movie and had access to the film reals converted it, or gave it to someone to convert, who then made it distributable. I still waited 2 hours in line to watch the midnight showing of the movie when it hit theatres and overpaid for popcorn and a drink. Downloading it didn't cause me to not spend money on it. I downloaded a few other movies but they sucked so I never saw them while they were in theaters because they sucked so much. Why would I want to support something that sucked. Matrix, in my opinion, didn't svck so I supported it, and I wanted to see the movie on the big screen with louder effects. The same is true for music. I didn't buy Hillary Duff's new CD because I didn't like the songs on it. If I bought the CD I would have wasted money on buying something that I thought sucked. By downloading the songs, I could preview the CD and see if it was worth dropping a 20 on. However, I did buy the CD by Evanescence, even after downloading all 13 songs on their CD, mainly for the purpose that I enjoyed their music, wanted to support their continued efforts, and because I wanted to actually own the music. Just because it's on my computer doesn't mean it's going to stay there forever. If I buy a CD, I know it's going to be there forever. The music on the radio sickens me. They play the same crap over and over again, nothing original, always by popular good looking people who at music (Bananas??? By Gwen Stefani??? I bet that song was a bet that she could make a song as stupid as bananas popular). The music industry as it exists today doesn't allow good original music writers to be heard. Through the use of downloading and peer to peer software, good artists can have their music heard without having to pander to radio stations and paying money just to get heard. I hope all the bad artists go bankrupt. When someone is good, their music will be bought. And look at the artists that won awards at the MTV music awards. Do you know where they got their break in music? On MTV. It's sick! And MTV panders to the attractive musicians, not the good ones.

So anti- and hate stuff can go here now, or just borderline stuff?

Look, I've been to numerous forums and probably banned from half of them. But I know what kills a forum and censorship is one of them. If everyone is in agreement with everyone else, you end up getting just a whole bunch of butt patting in forums, better known as spam. (Oh that was a great thought.) With no aposing viewpoints there can be no arguments. If there are no arguments, threads will be no longer than a page and on the first page of that thread will basicly be agreements of the first poster's opinion. Censorship also limits the amount of new posts going up (since people are afraid of spending work to put down their opinion only to have it deleted) and this board doesn't seem to recieve enough traffic to deal with also deleting a bunch of threads. And you can't deny the fact that if people aren't interested in posting replys to supposedly anti- material, then it would quickly fall to the bottom of recent posts and quickly get put back a few pages where most people won't go. What I see overall happening here is that some of the posts that a lot of people get involved in, in fact posts that most of the active members get involved in, are going to be deleted. It won't be all of them, maybe say, only 10% (because who friggen' cares about a painted rock), then the board is going to suffer. It might not show at first, but I'm sure the restrictions will mutate into something that will eventually destroy the board. Just my non-anti- opinion.

What if a gay Latter Day Saint comes for advice. According to how you want us to act, you'll want us to bash him to kingdom come since gayness is against church beliefs. Is that right?

What is the name of your disorder?

As you so adequately put, there is no pleasure without pain. No good sex without bad sex, etc.

Why are the people in New Orleans wicked? I thought that most of the people who died were poor. I'd figure that the rich ones (that is the ones who had the means to escape) would be wicked. I haven't seen much of the other posts, since I'm not willing to sift through 6 pages of it on company time.

Antis would say that JS wrote the BoM himself, without revelation. What if he read the quote and put it in the BoM?
-
When did the transcription of the vision come to pass? Antis might use it to discredit Joseph Smith.

I understand your issue didn't concern the United States but here's some info. In the United States, donors are not anonymous. The child has a right to know who the parent is. The child's right supercedes a right that the father never had, just one that the banks told him he had, the right to being anonymous. So those who donated in their early years might have a kid some up to their door and say that they are their child. Eventually I bet it will lead to child support. That's like getting $50 for each donation and then having to pay $400 a month (minimum) for 18 years in child support.

Some children would prefer an Xbox360 or Playstation 3 over a set of scriptures, or maybe that's just me.

I haven't run anybody off the chat site. Well no one pretty Seriously all the times I've been there it's been pretty dead. I'm good in crowds, I freak people out 1 on 1.
-
Yes. No offense, but I prefer not to talk to strangers. 2 posts defines you as strange to me. You are welcome to join me in the waiting game for people to come into the chat room.

There having problems filling up the lists for endowments and such. They think it's because they aren't loaning clothes out. You have to bring your own.

Don't forget: shoot to kill!

The oldest person in the world just died. Imagine what would happen to our church if Hinkley eventually lived to be the oldest person in the world.

The white hurts. At least try inverting the colors and see what you get.
-
It would be EASIER on the eyes if the site had a black backround instead. Otherwise, all this white is like staring into a lightbulb.

My parents and brother went to that too. I didn't know about it until tonight. Alas, I was at The Block too.

Why Don't People Attend Church On A Regular Basis
DisRuptive1 replied to StrawberryFields's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Or because they feel alone (everyone seems paired up in a single's ward) -
Maybe the ex doesn't want kids.

Jesus obviously changed a lot of stuff when he came around in the New Testament. He continues to lead our church and change things around as needed. I think he said we could eat shrimp back in 1905.
