She didn't give you the...."I brought him into this world!"

Why is this "news"? I don't understand what's the big deal.

I see. Well, we have a different opinion then. I want to believe we aren't modern day Pharisees, walking around with a stick, pointing out what religion groups follow God's commandments and who don't. I think as members of the LDS Chuch we have enough in our plate to deal with our many weaknesses and shortcomings to be worried about another Church and their religion views and practices. One of our articles of Faith states: It's their religion and I respect that. Just like the LDS Church claim to follow modern revelations they (these groups) also claim the same and I don't believe it's my place to interfere with their religious convictions (again as long as there is no abuse or minors involved).

Hi Hordak I just saw this. Do you have any good links I could check with regards to this? Thanks a lot.

By the way, I am not a vegetarian (I don't cook it at home but I eat it only when dining out) so I'm not bias. However I think most people consume way too much meat and for some reason they have the erroneous idea that they MUST have it otherwise they will perish (being a lil dramatic). How many people wonder about PROTEIN when eating a t-bone steak?
-
Meat isn't the only source of protein.

I would like to answer but I have a very hard time understanding bert's posts.

Where did you hear this?
-
It wouldn't surprise me.
-
Wow. I won't ask your age.
-
I'll say the prayer that you have in your signature.

Oh your affinity for dead animals. J/k!

Ah....GIRLS!

Lots of art-related activities: Painting, coloring, music, etc. You can make crafts with them as well and one of you teach a short lesson. Their attention span is very short so whatever you do has to be fun.

I interpret that scripture in a completely different way. I think we have a big problem in English with the double negative (the footnote doesn't help much). However, let's not forget verse 21: Or this one: In most scriptures I have read there seems to be a connection between eating meay and a need to survive. I think the figure of billions of animals being slaughtered every year in the US just for the "taste" goes beyond any "need", IMO.

Scolded by others for what?
-
Oh no, I did not intent to make a statement that it is within the "forbidden" list, I just wanted to say it contains caffeine. As a matter of fact, decaff coffee still coffee. Some people think it's okay and some others don't.
-
Both of them contain caffeine.

Just listening to this mother speak made me very irritated. I don't like these pageants at all for many reasons but one of them is thinking of the amount of pedophiles watching this kind of events.

Sodapop, please don't say that. I strongly suggest you to talk to your doctor and your bishop as soon as possible. There are many people with special needs in the Church who yes, struggle but who with the right help and direction can enjoy full membership in the Church. You cannot stop people from talking behind your back (they do it whether or not you have special needs). Your focus should be on Christ, improving yourself, seeing about your health and thinking in what great ways you can help the members in your ward understand and learn more about your condition. I know you can do it!
-
Sodapop, I'm touched by your post. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I would like to apologize in behalf of my brothers and sisters who may intentionally or unintentionally hurt you . Sometimes people in general are just cruel (in and out of the Church). Also, people tend to shy away from people who may look or act different than them, they do it out of ignorance. I know it is not an excuse however few people have been raised understanding about people with special needs. Did you speak with your Bishop and share your concerns and health related issues?

I forgot to add one more person that Brigham Young makes mention of in the Journal of Discourses, an apostle who fell away but he doesn't give his name.

Sure. Luke Johnson: He was one of the original members of the Quorum of the Twelve. He was Orson Hyde's brother in law. He was a faithful member but had problems with Joseph after all the loses at Kirtland Safety Society. He was disfellowshiped, returned to the Church but was later excommunicated and dropped from the Quorum of the Twelve. However, after Joseph Smith's death he returned and was re-baptized (the following account is according to John D. Lee in"Writings of John D. Lee" by John Doyle Lee and Samuel Nyal Henrie): Zerah Pulsipher (he is the one who baptized Wilford Woodruff, this account is in his autobiography as well as "Greatest Conversion Stories" by Richard Nelson): Harrison Burgess: He was a member of Zion's Camp and later a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy (this account is in his autobiography and Harrison Burgess, "Sketch of a Life Well Spent" LDS Church Archives, 65–66.) Happy Reading.

I'm sorry to hear your experience wasn't positive. I met a man once with a similar experience (he had Aspergers). Personally, I don't think you have to pretend or live up to people's expectations. Some folks have great missions and others simply do not (for many reasons and circumstances).
