  1. Sixpacktr: *sigh* What all this has to do with the thread? Are you going to actually contribute to the topic at hand?
  2. It's interesting that you said that, it's interesting that you mentioned so many times the word "assumption" yet you are here making lots of them about a group of people (some forum members) who were just trying to help you out and share their thoughts. People assume things ALL the time, it isn't an issue of marital status.
  3. Uruguay? It seems like you are going to drink lots of "mate" (I am pretty sure you know what it is by now, if not you can google it). Not sure what the rules about "mate" and missionaries are these days though.
  4. I am a freak, I knew it all along:"Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types". INFJ Introvert 22% Intuitive 38% Feeling 25% Judging 56%
  5. But even Jesus taught them in parables for the same reason...Just saying.
  6. Did you check with your doctor? There are endless reasons your child could be wetting his bed from a physical medical condition to psychological ones as a result of traumatic event/s (that you may or not maybe aware of) I would suggest checking both with his pediatrician and a child psychologist if the reason isn't physical. All the best.
  7. You mean, in Church and seminary you heard teachers talking about the plural wives of Joseph Smith? Where is your ward?
  8. Minnie, first of all let me say I am sorry about what you are going through. So you are saying that after you confronted him with all this evidence he denied it all? What did he say about the picture of himself he uploaded?
  9. Are you 100% sure about your suspicions? What is the issue? (if you don't mind sharing)
  10. Good crazy or bad crazy? :) I just don't like the texture.
  11. Hi Backroads, leaving out safety concerns, isn't that an issue between them and Heavenly Father? Why do you seem concern over how they choose to worship and whether they are being hypocritical or not?
  12. What do you consider a "unique challenge"? I suppose it all depends on the person, their personal revelation, preparation, study, etc. Some may view it as common teachings while others think they are great treasures of knowledge that takes probably a lifetime to fully grasp and understand. I don't know about "hiding" however there is literally a lot of information that we receive in the Temple that the average member (who may not have a temple recommend) isn't able to access (minus the internet). Having said that, having the information and understanding the information are two completely different things. Maybe you meant something different?
  13. In the last Sunday and Testimony meeting, two members got up and they mentioned something about a documentary they watched that it made them to think twice about coming back to Church (they didn't share details so whatever they watched is everyone's guess). However, what it strike me is that they said that despite hearing those things that they didn't know about they decided to stay. So when you expect the next sentence to be that they will stay because the Church is true or have a testimony of the Gospel or a testimony of Jesus Christ, they said instead that their friends and family are here and that's why they are staying. I wonder at times how many members we have that go to Church or stay in Church only for social reasons.
  14. I don't like meat substitutes such as soya and tofu (ewwww). With soya I feel like I am eating dog food and with tofu like I am eating jello.
  15. I wonder why that part was omitted? (I can think of a few reasons but..) If we take into consideration that we believe Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to a 14 year old farmer boy, what would be so controversial about Oliver and this rod? I think by changing the words, many missed the fact that heindeed had a rod and the revelation received was with regards to it.
  16. Oh brothers, I could reply and explain eh but...something tells me that you will have the last word (we went through this before, right? )
  17. My point? I thought it was obvious: Be careful with generalizations. Just because he looks black, doesn't mean he is. He is biracial.
  18. Welcome, hope you enjoy your stay. :)
  19. There are many black people who do not approve of the "n" word. He is mixed.
  20. I forgot to add that Institute should also be a place where people can feel "free" to ask these sort of questions. As an example, many years ago I was in Institute and we were visited by the Temple President, we were allowed to ask questions after the class. I waited until everyone left to ask him a question and I asked how come the Church discontinued the practice of prayer circles at ward and stake levels (later on I found out why) as well as prayer altars at home. He looked at me in complete shock, absolutely horrified and said: "Where did you get that from, I don't know anything about it and I find the question very disturbing!". He left with a frown on his face. I didn't know if cry or laugh. I opted for "Nevermind".
  21. I would like that some members can understand that not everyone is at the same level and that this group also needs to have their needs met and they shouldn't be expected to stay in the basics for good. I would also like that members don't think you are either a Mormon Critic or an Anti-Mormon just because you are asking or commenting on Church history. I have a passion for Church history, studied it a lot and I continue researching and studying it. It doesn't make me a troublemaker, a Mormon apologist or whatever goes in some people's minds. Questions that may be considered "controversial" or facts that happen in history doesn't equal lack of testimony or anti-mormon sentiment. I think for some, these two are mutually inclusive. I agree that the things that are taught in Church should remain within the doctrine realm (and even that is arguable, but I mean the basics). Having said that, I completely object to the the idea that places such as this forum should only deal with the basics, that's what we already hear in Church. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.
  22. How exactly does everyone progresses at the same base level when you have a group whose needs are different?. It's illogical to me to take French lessons and as you complete Level 1 and you would like to pass to Level 2, they tell you that you cannot do that because you need to continue revising Level 1 and even though you may learn a few things by revising again, at some point you need more...However, you still not able to pass to Level 2. New students are being added to your class and they don't know any French so there you are, stuck in Level 1 French, possibly for good. Makes sense? Not in my opinion. Don't we have that in Gospel Principles Class? What would be the purpose of this forum if all that we do is discuss only the same things that you hear in Church? The reason sites like this one are popular is because members can ask and answer questions they do not normally hear at Church or things they would never dream in discussing during a Sunday School class.
  23. Well, all I can is that you can give it a try and see how it works here. :) You never know who you will meet or what type of answer you may receive. Take Care.
  24. Thanks Bini! I am sort of like...vegetarian. Let me explain, for some reason I have a problem in labeling myself as one, I am not sure why! I don't cook meat, my family doesn't eat it, if I go out I wouldn't choose a meal with meat but let's say someone offers me a meal with meat I wouldn't mind eating it. Makes sense or sounds weird? Thanks for the ideas. :)
  25. One of those "guidelines" or commandments is that we shouldn't commit adultery or fornication. Whether we "offend" Him or not can be arguable for some, however the main issue is that we broke one of His rules and a consequence (as you well said) follows. When a child disobeys his parents, is the parent happy? I don't think so. Possibly the number one step on the repentance process is to feel "Godly Sorrow" and recognize that we have committed a sin against God's commandments. It's not an easy thing but something we ALL must go through, because we are all sinners. I wish you all the best in whatever decision you take! :)
