  6. ok here's the rules. i start with the name of a song... "Don't Take the Girl" Tim McGraw the next poster has to post a song starting with the last word of the song title "Girl Can Rock" Hilary Duff then the next poster has to post a song starting with the last word from that song.... and so on and so forth. i tried this on another forum a few years ago and we had fun. hope it works here. any questions?
  7. really?? when i used to go to church that was pretty much the only thing that happened!! talking and associating. we'd sometimes spend up to an hour after church talking and associating with everyone. the hallways on the way from sacrament meeting to classes was always crowded with people talking and visiting. maybe i misunderstood, but in the wards i always attended there was definately not a lack of talking and associating.
  8. welcome welcome!
  9. this is precisely why i decided to stop the whole "internet dating" thing, unless the person is within driving distance.

  12. Okay, so I normally don't post in the gospel discussion thread, let alone start topics in it...but i was reading another thread and a thought came to mind...i hope it doesn't come across silly, but i'm going to ask it anyways. so, in the thread, someone was asking about Christ getting a body and being a God. anyways, my question/thought was... we all come to earth to have bodies and be like Heavenly Father. So obviously then, Heavenly Father has a body too...so did He recieve the body that He has before He was a God? i'm not exactly sure the church's teachings on that subject. i know the song "if you could hie to kolob" kind of touches on the subject of there being many God's in the universe...i think. anyways, any thoughts on the subject? or what is the official teaching on this subject? i'm sure if i searched through the threads there was probably a discussion on this somewhere, but the thought just popped into my head and i thought i'd ask. sorry if the post is a bit choppy, i have problems explaining myself sometimes...hope it's clear enough :S ~Becca
  13. has he only contacted you the once? or have you talked a few times? personally, if it was the first "major" correspondence, i'd probably wait a week. if we'd been talking for a few weeks, and i got to know his schedule a bit, that would be different. if the week was over and i still hadn't heard from him i'd probably write him off and forget about him until he wrote back (if that ever happened). but i think this is your own personal choice. if you want to write him, write him. if you don't, then don't. it will let him get to know your personality if you send him a quick "hey haven't heard from you for awhile, just wondering how things are going?" if you want to send the note, do it. it's better than waiting around stressing out.
  14. because we all still have our agency.
  15. happy birthday twirly girly!!! i'd be throwing you a huge party in chat right now...but alas.... but we partied pretty hard the other day in chat...so i'm guessing you might just sneak in and check the forum too. i meant to pass on the message of twirlygirl the other day after she left chat, but never got a chance. twirlygirl aka girlydolphin says hello to all and hugs and she misses you. she's still around, don't fret
  16. welcome! thanks for your story! I just have to say, i LOVE your user name. and I'm beginning to think that starting and forgetting to stop has something to do with the name 'becca' cause i'm a becca too...and i have that same problem
  17. welcome. what kinds of problems are you having with the site? have you check out the "how do i" forum yet? lots of people have technology problems that can be answered there. go ahead and ask and someone can steer you in the right direction good luck!
  18. pans, you took the words almost out of my mouth. having been a beehive, mia maid, and laurel president growing up, i know that we always stressed the importance of what the values really MEAN. we made our personal progress goals have something significantly related to the actual values. our activities would have something to do with a value. our sunday devotionals given by the girls in the ward were about specific values. our camps were organized around making sure we understood the values. i have heard the programs have somewhat changed in the last 10 years since i was a laurel, but i would hope the YW program hasn't changed so much that the importance of the YW values has been de-emphasized? anyways...on to the topic... to me, virtue somewhat goes hand in hand with some of the other values. when i think of virtue i think of being pure, being clean, being chaste. when i think of virtue, i think of a young woman walking down the hallways of school who is dressed modestly. a girl who you can tell "stands as a witness of God in all times, in all things, and in all places". a thought came to mind as I was thinking about the new value... i remember the year I went into young womens. It was december, before all our birthdays and the girls who were already in the program had an activity one sunday which they invited all the upcoming young women to. a sort of, welcome to young women night. the focus of the activity was to teach us all about the new values. the upcoming young women were separated into groups and there were 7 different rooms we went to. each room represented a different value. the young women presented each value (a girl from the beehives, mia maids and laurels in each room). Perhaps this is why i feel such a strong connection to the values, and feel they were always emphasized to us. From the beginning, before we even entered into the program ourselves, they were being taught to us.....just a thought...
  19. thank goodness funkytown is one of the people who answers the questions on this thread....otherwise you might never get an answer to that one. who would have thought....the one answering the questions needs one asked. who did ann landers write to when she had a question she needed answered?

  21. Dear FT and WN, I have a friend who thinks they're cooler than they actually are. This friend goes around telling people how "amazing" he/she things he/she is. This friend is always that happy-go-lucky person. And as amazing and wonderful as that is, it just gets annoying sometimes. How can I tell this "amazing" person that he/she is just being a big ol BUG? Sincerely, LB
