Who wrote Life Everlasting? An apostle? If not, disregard!

Dear Zil, thank you for responding. The type of promptings that I may or may not get involve things like working with specific people or on specific projects. Or how to structure my time. To retire at a certain age and go and serve in a certain location where I have no family. These are things that scriptural knowledge will not help to illuminate.

Is there anyway to become better at evaluating the veracity of promptings? Bro Hale's talk 'holy ghost' in the most recent conference says that if you are obeying the commendments you will not be lead astray, well I am still having trouble ascertaining the veracity of promptings. I am not allowed to fast which I am sure would be helpful any suggestions?

So true! I was just thinking of the astonishing corruption in the Montreal construction industry. I am amazed that anyone in Canada did not know about it. The cost of building anything in Montreal is notoriously 15% higher than surrounding areas and went on for generations. We recently had a series of court cases and situations in which city officials and mayors in nearby cities were jailed but no public outcry. Perfect calm. No one got exciited. Nothing causes people to get excited here but if your team loses at hockey that's another story!

This Westboro behaviour is illegal in Canada, just saying, you cannot disseminate hatred here..even if you really dislike figs which have those nasty little seeds that get stuck in your teeth.

Someone on this .net recommended beginning prayers by bearing testimony. This procedure has really worked for me. Having a picture of Jesus in the bedroom is important to me and useful for those who stay up past their bedtimes!

I started reading scriptures morning for about 15 minutes for the reasons you stated. I also read at night when I am more awake and I have more time.

I just attended Gospel Principles. It was a hoot! Only problem we had a handful of Anglos who were talking too fast (me included!) and bouncing ideas off each other. My friend from China got a headache trying to follow. She had the chineses and the English gospel principles side by side. We have one man fron Burma/Myanmar, the teacher explained that a very high % of this ethnic group had joined the church and two other recent immigrants from Asia. Anglos need to speak more slowly! Talking to self! We had one Anglo, golden investigator who told her story, very moving. I am now trying to work out how to get to church in Anaheim ca. Going there for a conference. Surely Mickey Mouse is a member?

Oh oh I just read the August ironing message. Oh my. Why didn't he just do the ironing for her? Reminds me of...no let's not bring up talks that are better forgotten.

I am the same way. I need direction! I once found a list published by the church that had things like visit temple once a month with a family name. I was delighted!

How long do you read scriptures for each day? I read the lesson and associated scriptures over on a Sunday. I read the commentary on ldsliving and meridien magazine also on Sunday. I listen to scriptural roundtable on the lesson also on Sunday. Throughout the week, I retread a chapter or two for about 15-20 minutes. To make it more interesting, I normally read some from step by step through the Book of Mormon but the site has been down lately. My scripture reading feels really blah lately. Any ideas?

I started bringing almonds and mozzarella cheese sticks to church. Suddenly the 3 hours is more bearable.

Watched a movie I had really wanted to watch, it was awful (seven Psychopaths, if every 2nd word is bleeped out, it is because they can't come up with a script. Remember that section from Huck Finn where the con men have a traveling entertainment show that women and children cannot watch?), but still I was able to watch it!

I listen to Scriptural Roundtable on YouTube as a substitute. They go through the lesson...but I would rather go to my ward Sunday school lesson!
