Reading scriptures for the tired and confused

Great method! -
Dear Bros and Sis's, Recently a poster on this net mentioned hearing a gardener swearing. If you hear such a thing, please walk up to the recommend desk and ask to talk to the temple president. Our temples are well run and we do not permit such behaviour. Thank you!

So glad that you are back! Too bad about that gardener! Sometimes when you make a change in life, it can be over whelming. Everyone telling you "do this", "do that" so don't feel you have to do this... if anyone on lds.net hears a gardener on temple property swearing, please walk into the temple, walk up to the recommend desk and ask 1) ask to speak to temple president and report the incident or 2) ask the person at a he recommend desk to report this to the temple president. The person at the recommend desk may seem a bit confused...this is normal! We are often training new people! I assure you that the temple president wants to hear about such incidents! But Amy, you have enough on your plate! So don't feel that you need to do this! Anyway, Amy we are so pleased to have you back! May God bless you and keep you safe. Let us know how things are going.! -
Potential convert who feels terribly conflicted

Wonderful very comprehensive answer. You could also try reading an account of Joseph Smith's vision, the missionaries will give you a pamphlet, and pray to know if this event occurred. -

Many temples have an 'open baptism' day for newish members and family. On this day all you need to do is to show up with your recommend and you can perform baptisms. Call your local temple and ask when 'open baptism' day is! For priesthood holders, I think, not sisters. Don't quote me on that last part. -

As someone who was inactive for a long time, I highly recommend a schedule for prayer. Pray before leaving home in the morning. Arrange your life so that you have time to think first and you are somewhat awake. Pray at lunch time, maybe in the restroom. Pray when you return in the evening. Give yourself time to compose your thoughts. great to have you back! You can get a limited use temple recommend. The drop out rate for new members is 80 % but 30% if new member visits the temple within the first year. What I was told while working in the temple. If there is a nearby temple perhaps you could go for a walk on the grounds? Wonderful that you are back! -

Reading scriptures for the tired and confused

Oh and if I am really tired and busy, CDs of the Book of Mormon in the car. I buy the general conference talks on cd and listen in the car! So any cool tips that you have discovered? -
I have finally come up with a scripture reading system that works for me. Read Book of Mormon morning and evening for about 15 minutes. Read the 24 hour Book of Mormon first so I know what is going on. If I am really tired read the same chapters over again morning and evening. Progress is slow but at least I am reading scriptures. I listen to podcasts on the lesson by the interpreter foundation on Sunday's. If I find the material boring or confusing, I go to the website'step by step through the book of Mormon'. I bought a timeline for the Book of Mormon on Amazon. Very helpful! Lots of people have the same name and there are flashbacks! If I don't know who someone is, wikipedia! My solution! And if I am really tired there is an app, gospel library that has an audio function. Wish I had figured this out years ago!

Congratulations for finding out cool stuff in your genealogy! Glad to have you here. Welcome!

Very pleased to have you here. Welcome! Sorry you fell down the stairs. Let's not make this mandatory for Mormons! No sex before marriage, no booze, fall down the stairs daily.

Just did! Thinking of you!

Thank you for commenting. I got the advice I needed thanks. I am ceasing to comment on this thread.

I did come across a church article about youth teaching primary so perhaps this is a church wide trend. With respect to ages we are talking above and over 18. We previously drafted 18-20s but we are now thinking of doing this more often. We are planning dramatically pushing for under 18s. But yeah, I worry about this approach. With such a sparse population being LDS is very tough here most especially for young people. Young people need friends to share their beliefs. I think the program will make it more difficult to travel and meet those LDS friends and crushes. We live in an area where most lds are inactive. The ratio is 1:5. If you forget about free agency, you would say that the chances of your teen staying active are 20 percent.so yes I worry about them.

What? No singles ward here. No institute. Not enough people.

No singles ward here. Nearest is 4.5 hours away. No institute either.

i want them to be able to attend these monthly get togethers. At the distances they have to travel, they will need to stay overnight. I used to be treated quite badly if I ever missed a Sunday class. I do not want this to happen to this group.

This is a brilliant suggestion! Are the results good? Do the primary children seem happy?

The young women and young men do not need to travel to teach. They need to travel in order to meet potential spouses. The activities at which they meet for social events require a car ride of between 2.4 to 4.5 hours. Canada is a series of very spread out towns and cities. Why am I grumpy about this? Because this is what happened to me. The next town was 2.5-3 hours away, which was were we held dances. I was given an assignment of teaching primary so I could not attend as I had to be back for church. Driving through the night is dangerous so those who attended the dance slept over on someone's floor, attended church the next day in the new town and drove back on the Sunday, ready for school or work on Monday.
