Yes, it's done in the same way as the Work and the Glory series. They tell the story of fictional charactors who are around and interact with historical figures from biblical times of the New Testament.

They made more than one BoM movie? I really thought that that was pretty cheesy. I really like Kirby Haybourne, he can be pretty funny in some of his movies. His english accent in Saints and Soldiers was hilarious No these movies aren't cheesy (in my opinion) and are acted very well. Great drama, but not a patch on the books.

HI: GB-UK Sorry to here that they are not going to release the film in the UK. I'm not as excited as you are to see the third movie, so I will most likely see it about the same time that you do. I used to like to go to movies, but now I just get to bored. I think that I'm to critical with movies and can always find thing that I don't like about them. In the first two Work and the Glory's, I thought that the director was not getting everthing that he or she could, out of the cast. Oh well, at least we have the Gospel in common (lol). Your friend - allmosthumble I found the first two films very entertaining but in no way as good as the books. I found the books to be both a very good read and pretty well historically accurate (apart from the fictionalised charactors etc). The films only skim the surface, but it's nice to put faces to charactors from books. I liked the guy playing the prophet Joseph, I thought he did pretty well. And the guy who played Ben Steed was also very good, just how I imagined him from the books. Did the actress playing Lydia McBride change from the first film to the second?

Just watched the trailer for the third Work and the Glory movie and it says that its the end of the trilogy. Looks like they aren't going to be making the entire 9 volumes into film, and I don't think that they will be able to cram the remainder into this last film. I'm really disappointed that they are not going to do the books the full movie treatment as I think that they are fantastic. Mind you this is not going to stop me from getting the DVD when its released, if only they would release it to the cinema in the UK

States Of Grace ~ God's Army 2
Latter Days Guy replied to Brother Dorsey's topic in General Discussion
You got your copy already! I thought that they weren't getting sent out until the 15th October! Still it will probably be a while before it wings it's way across the pond to the UK. Really looking forward to this as I am a great admirer of Richard Dutcher's work. A great director, who's made some great movies. -
I'm also in the process of returning to the church after a period of inactivity and would echo all that has been said by the other posters. I've had nothing but support from the missionaries and the other members that I have met. I've also gotten a great sence of belonging here aswell. Thanks you guys and gals for being such great people to a returning member.

And for you LDS: I prayed the prayer from Moroni 10 more than once. I asked repeatedly whether or not I was on the wrong side. The answer was always silence. The last time I prayed over this, two LDS missionaries challenged me to pray with them in their church and settle this thing once and for all, so I did. I realized that all along I had been praying to my trinitarian idea of God and not the LDS one. So I addressed "the God I hadn't prayed to" and asked him about the truth--for a half or more hour I actually turned away from my God and sought yours! The answer was silence again. Then slowly and softly an answer came from my old Friend upstairs, to the effect of: "oh you of little faith, he has no authority over you." And I was free. Sincerly, Red. You see thats where your going wrong your not asking sincerly. You can tell this by your "I actually turned away from my God and sought yours" bit. Heavenly Father wants you to accept his gospel and see the truth, but you will not find anything unless you seek it with a sincere heart.

Maybe he has been sin binned or banned? Maybe it was all a bad dream? Kinda reminds me of the shower scene from Dallas

My point was that you can if you want to find similar anti stuff about just about anyone or any thing. Red is anti-LDS, it took me about 20 seconds to find stuff that was written against his church and pastor. Does that make it true? No, does that make the anti-LDS true, again the answer is no. People are very good at destroying other people, I for one cannot say a bad thing about Billy Graham yet the site I found have quite a lot to say about how evil he is. Utter rubbish.

I did a quick search on the net and found this about the pastor of your church, seems that some EV's don't think he's EV enough and leading you all to hellfire and torment. He's listed there alongside Billy Graham, the pope and the usual suspects of mormonism and JW's and anyone who believes in Christian unity. Now I'm not saying I agree with them, but it doesn't take long to find someone who is ant against just about anything.

It's not that we hate shopping, it's that we hate shopping with women. For example, I went shopping with my sister once for an outfit for a wedding. Me, I walk into a store find something I like and get it. My sister finds something she likes, changes her mind and then drags me around every other shop in the shopping centre before going back to the first shop and getting that self same first item she looked at! That added a good 3 hours onto the time we spent shopping! Oh almost forgot. My wife tried this aswell. She finally got the message that I was board when I started picking up dresses and things and saying "do you think this goes with my eyes?" or "does my bum look big in this?" She soon made a hasty retreat muttering she would come back by herself as she would get it done quicker!

I would disagree that it is addicting. But ive been drinking it since i was 5. My teeth are still white. And so if it would be a test of obedeince. Why would all the mormons be ask to do something for no reason, and if so what else are the mormons ask to give up. I know alchohal cigarattes and sex, to me thoughs make a little sence why are mormons not aloud to spend money on sunday and why do most mormons not sware ? and what is the wite shurt that all grown up mormons ware? Funny that you would say that you've been drinking coffee since you were 5. My parents and most of my family wouldn't allow us to drink tea or coffee before we were at least 12 because they believed it was bad for young kids to drink it. And none of my family are mormon!

Just Had My First Visit With The Missionaries.

That's an idea, I could cook them lunch or something Coming to think about it they did look a bit thin -
I use the LDS KJV but I do have other translations aswell. NKJV NIV NRSV CEV RSV I like the KJV, but it can be difficult in places for some people to understand with the use of non-contemprary english. Also with some words having different meanings today than when the KJV was written. I like the NKJV the most out of all the tranlations as its the closest to the KJV without altering the text that much. CEV is a great translation, and can often give you a fresher insight into what the writer is trying to get across Out of interest what things did they not know you where talking about?

Just Had My First Visit With The Missionaries.
Latter Days Guy replied to Latter Days Guy's topic in General Discussion
Well, I am a member but missed a few weeks from sacrement meeting.................... say 20 years So I've been thinking of coming back to the Church for a few months now and well after my accident I decided to get back in touch. Saw an add on the TV for the "Finding Faith in Christ" DVD and rang them up. My old bishop brought me the video and said the missionaries would call in a couple of days to get to know me and have a chat. Well three weeks later they phone and arrange to come round today -
Are You 'on Fire' For Jesus? Ready For Battle?
Latter Days Guy replied to prisonchaplain's topic in General Discussion
You can disagree with my opinions on this, but please don't tell me I've been 'snookered' by Hollywood. I know this is a sensationalist documentary, but I still wholeheartedly disagree with what these camps are doing. I think it teaches children to dislike anyone different from them. I also think it teaches that violence is the answer to our problems. And I can totally see one of these kids committing an abortion clinic bombing eventually! Where exactly in the clipsdoes it show them teaching the kids to be violent, or that violence is the answer to problems? And how could you see them bombing abortion clinics? Either you have watched something completely different to me or your reading far to much into what you have seen. The spiritual warefare that I've been involved with and have heard about is exactly what PC has said. The most violent they ever got was walking around a part of town, praying for the Lord to reclaim the territory and banish the demonic presence covering it. I don't personally see a problem with this, but to compare it with say the camps run by some muslim groups who do teach them to hate and to blow up inocent people is completely wrong. I thought that I had had a sheltered childhood -
I've just had my first visit with the missionaries and they were very nice! What really surpised me was that neither of them where American, but both were British. I shouldn't be surprised really as the Elders who originally taught me 20 odd years ago where Australian and Kiwi natives. But I would have thought that at least one of them would be a yank! Anyway they are coming back next tuesday and we are going to get down to some serious study. Should be interesting, and very informative. It just felt so right that they where here and I had that inner witness from the Holy Ghost that I was with a couple of people who really wanted to do our Heavenly Fathers work. I cannot wait till next week now

Jesus Camp The Film - Little Christian Jihadists?
Latter Days Guy replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
So do they get taught how to make bombs and plan terror raids? The big difference in my eyes is that these kids are being taught to use spiritual warfare to bring down the evils of this world, whereas the jihadists kids of some muslim countries are getting trained to make bombs and plan terror raids to bring down what they are told is evil. -
So who told you to leave, so we can run them off And how old are you? From your posts that I have read I would guess mid teens
