I've just downgraded back to XP from Vista so I can get Lesson and Talk Builder and GospeLink to work properly on my laptop. Now all i've got to do is do the research and write something worth listening to. I've not written a talk like this in years and never in the LDS church, so I just hope that I can do the subject some justice. Hey, maybe if I'm really bad they will not ask me to do it again

I've got my first ever church talk coming up a week this coming Sunday, I'm feeling incredibly nervous already and don't know what I am going to say. I've been given some notes about my topic, it's an article called Free to choose. My talk is on our Agency and how we are free to choose between everlasting death and life. Luckily it's only 10 minutes, but I think this is going to be the longest 10 minutes in my life

I was looking for a site that would help me find the church again, to get in contact with people who belonged to the church and not have a constant battle with people who were anti-LDS. Stumbled across this site by doing a google search for LDS forums, it seemed like a nice place without the constant bashing from anti's and trolls, so stuck around Since then I've been in contact with my wards missionaries and I have been attending church again since January.

Wow, what a great Ward conference this morning! The Spirit was really moving during all the meetings, from Priesthood, to Gospel Principles and then into Sacrament! Stake president gave a fantastic talk about being more of a family in the church and using our time at the temple to it's fullest! After the Sacrament meeting the Bishop called me into his office and asked how it was all going with my return to Church, then said that I would be put forward at the September Stake conference to become an Elder! I was under the impression that I had only been made a Deacon before my vacation from the church for 20 odd years but apparently I was a Priest Now all I have to do is get the wife and family involved, but she seems to be totally anti the church in every way possible

Sorry if I offended you, I had no intention to do so I'm not vegetarian either, but if you take out the meat then it's even healthier. And canned produce is not as healthy as fresh because, well it's not fresh. Coleslaw must be different in the USA that to here in the UK as here it's shredded cabbage and carrot in mayonnaise.

Why so much tinned stuff in the stew? You could make it really healthy by cutting out the meat and using fresh vegetables instead.

There seems to be some disagreement over the NET of GROSS issue. I think we need to take a look at what Outshined posted and then decide if we are paying our full tithe or not. Many people have said it's between the individual and God, and I believe that is exactly what the quote states. By revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord stated that members should pay "one-tenth of all their interest [increase] annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them forever." (D&C 119:4) Present Church policy specifically states that no one in the Church has any authority to interpret this revelation for another person (See Financial Clerk's Handbook). This prohibition applies to everyone, including Stake Presidents and Bishops. If a local Church leader instructs you how to calculate your tithing, then he is in violation of this policy. It is up to the agency of each individual person to determine what constitute's a fair interpretation of the revelation.
