  5. Brilliant! Amazing how they come together!!
  6. Is the laugh count for laughing at someone or laughing with them?
  7. I don't associate owls with dirty things, its just when morningstar said it was to do with breasts, I'd not heard of that before. In the UK hooter is either your nose or a car horn :)
  8. I was of the understanding that hooters was a reference to your nose, but that could just be a US/UK difference.
  9. The first thing that struck me when reading this was the scene in the movie 'The Best Two Years' where one of the elders goes off on one about how it's : singular = book of Mormon. plural = books of Mormon. Did make me chuckle reading that little piece of your post! As for missionary work, I find that I feel terrible in the time leading up to doing some missionary work but once I've started that goes away. The same happens with testimony sharing in sacrament or before I get up to give a talk. I remember the first time I gave a talk after returning to the church, my knees were literally knocking together and my hands were shaking! But after a while a calm feeling descended upon me and those nerves vanished.
  10. The laws in this regards are quite new having come into law after the 7/7 bombings.
  11. That is what those who run those weekend muslim schools thought aswell which have been in the news recently. OFSTED has moved in quick to either regulate them or close them down.
  12. I think PC has made a valid point (as usual) that this is not getting us any where and is not really uplifting in any way shape or form.
  13. Personally I think its a good idea for schools to have an honour code like BYU's. I didn't actually know anything about it until it was mentioned in this thread. When I was at bible college there was a set of rules/expectations on how we were to act/dress on campus or church placement, but they didn't extend beyond the colleges grounds/church. The staff were always worried about some person applying to the college who maybe didn't agree with their standards as legally they were unenforceable and were kept only because of the good will/respect of the student body towards the faculty.
  14. For example if I set up a strict muslim madrasah school in the UK that taught students to hate jews and to blow up the infidels then that school would be shut down and the people teaching such things would be prosecuted/imprisoned. Like wise if I set up a private club that was for people to meet other like minded people who like to go out and bash gays, then that also would be shut down and likely the organisers would be prosecuted/imprisoned. And no I don't think that anybody should be able to enter a temple unless of course there is something illegal happening in said temple.
  15. I was just using the example of hooters waitresses, but yes he did say the female body. My point was that not all men would experience such a thrill purely from just seeing a female body, which from my reading of Vorts posts is what he was saying they would.
  16. Sorry you feel that way. I have no prejudice towards you at all, sorry if that is the impression that you have received.
  17. From my reading of what Vort's posts are saying is that the majority of men would get a sexual thrill from seeing females dressed in the way that those at hooters dress. I'm just disagreeing with that blanket statement which I can only assume he holds based upon his own experiences in said situations. Nothing more than just that.
  18. Yes it does as long as it doesn't impede the rights of others or break the law. For example those rather nice people who come along to general conference and shout rather nasty things at those attending would be arrested and carted off for inciting religious intolerance, breach of the peace, verbal assault.
  19. So you admit that you equate thrill with a sexual response. You also said "I think that getting a thrill from the female body is masculine". You think, is what you stated. How is that prejudice when all I've got to go on is what you have stated? You also say that this thrill/sexual response is very nearly universal among heterosexual men, I would have to disagree. As far as I know there are no hooters in the UK, but the sight of lady in tight clothes and shorts (which I guess is the dress of the female staff at hooters) doesn't give me or any of the male friends I know the same response as you seem to be indicating that you yourself get. I believe that you have missed the point here, that just because you have had such feelings/responses to that type of visual stimuli doesn't mean that every other male or even the majority of males would have the same response. I guess it also depends on where you live, I'm guessing that you live in an area with a large LDS membership and you mainly circulated in LDS circles. I don't live in such an area and doubt there is area's like that in the UK. During the summer here a large proportion of females walk around in shorts and crop tops, especially those of the teen to late 20's. Its just the way they dress, its the way my daughter dresses as that is the fashion. Where we holiday in Spain the summer uniform seems to be bikini's, yet I certainly don't get a sexual thrill like you describe just from seeing a woman in a bikini. I guess we are all just different.
  20. I use the LDS Scriptures app, tis very good and if you get the desktop version aswell it syncs all your notes and stuff across both devices!
  21. So do you not mean thrill to equal sexual exited? If someone came to me and said they got a thrill from seeing the female body I would automatically assume they meant a sexual thrill. You then went to to say that this thrill was masculine. Therefore I came to the conclusion that to you to be masculine you have to be thrilled (sexually excited) by the female body.
  22. What I meant was that all schools in the UK are inspected by OFSTED (office for standards in education), state run ones, church ones and independent ones. Plus church/religious schools in the UK are legally obliged to accept a certain amount on non member students. On top of that there's the human rights act poking its nose in as well! So if BYU was in the UK it would of course have to overcome the obstacle of say a Muslim student wanting to attend who has a beard. If said student was rejected and the student complained OFSTED would step in, and review the situation, probably force the school to accept the student and take the school through the courts for breaching the human rights act in regards to religious inteolerance.
  23. Now that is one strict school! Wouldn't get away with that in the UK!
  24. You said: I think that getting a thrill from the female body is masculine.
  25. What has having facial hair got to do with anything, I've got facial hear (goatee) and have had one for a good few years, what relevance does this have to his dancing or not?
