IT means something very rude here in the UK
-
Obviously this means something different in the US!

So what did you all think of The Day of the Doctor then? Have you seen the mini episode Night of the Doctor? Gives a good lead in to TDOTD!

Would the Savior apologize and ask forgiveness?
Latter Days Guy replied to Vort's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Will go into this more later as I'm at work at the moment! Isn't it linked to the OT and how the sins of Isreal were placed upon the scapegoat which was then released into the wilderness, that Jesus in the sacrifice of his life on the cross was the enbodiment of this principle of a sinless sacrifice to take away sin? -
Think I might watch this in HD on Saturday night

Pacific Rim, again! Love this movie, big monsters and big robots, what's not to like!!

If you don't get one in return, is that a good indicator?

Was going to ask why you send people cards when you go on holiday but read further on and saw you meant Christmas cards!! -
re: does your church have its ultraconservatives?

Ok, we call the non alcoholic version apple juice! -
Seen both Enders game and Thor 2 and I found Thor to be the better of the two. Enders is great but by the numbers scifi, Thor was awesome

Merry Halloween!! Only Two More Days!!
Latter Days Guy replied to mirkwood's topic in General Discussion
I don't get the hype about Halloween, when I was a kid it wasn't much of a big thing. Loads of talk about how it's all linked to Satanism and evil. Its a lot bigger now in the UK but I don't allow my kids to celebrate it and most Christians in the UK actively discourage it. It does seem to be massive over the pond though!! -
Personally I'm not really afraid of dying, the whole death thing doesn't worry me. What really gets me is the though of not being with my kids/family and being there for them when I'm gone. The thought of not being with my kids is a very upsetting feeling and just thinking about it makes me well up inside

Would I, as a non-mormon enjoy living in Utah?
Latter Days Guy replied to tommypman's topic in General Discussion
Your religion doesn't bar you from the resurrection, the atonement is a gift for all, but to gain access to heaven is where your religion becomes important. When at the Judgement seat, if you have not accepted or have rejected God's plan of salvation through the atonement of Jesus Christ do you think you are going to be accepted into the realms of glory? Yes those who have had no knowledge of the gospel or of Jesus Christ will be given a second chance to accept the plan of salvation, but if they fail to accept it then they aren't going to receive the rewards of heaven. -

You said: You'll do just fine especially since, unlike Islam, it is written specifically in our articles of faith that: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. Which I concluded that you meant that under Islam you have no other choice other than to convert to Islam. I've never heard of anyone teaching that you can be of any religion and go to heaven either! It's like saying, hey we are the restored Church of God, we have the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ but that's ok you can still be a Satanist because we believe all people go to heaven! Are you not getting confused with all will be resurrected before the Judgment? -

I think you will find that your wrong with regards what your saying about Islam. The Quran clearly teaches that there is no compulsion in Islam, that you cannot force someone to become a Muslim. -
So are you saying that unless your married in the temple your not really married at all? As you cannot get married in the temple in the UK does that mean all UK saints aren't married? As far as I know the only country you can get married in the temple is the USA, if that is true is the rest of the world excluded because they weren't married in a temple?

But to the widow it wasn't a small sacrifice, it was all she had.
-
So why mention it in the first place?
-
The widow wasn't tithing, she was making an offering. She probably wouldn't have met the requirement to tithe under the law either.

So, about that man made climate change... thing...

Yes it is a tabloid, but only in the way that it's a tabloid sized newspaper as opposed to a broadsheet. We don't have anything in the UK which is the equivalent of the National Enquirer/Globe. The Daily Mail was a broadsheet until it changes to it's current size. It is a serious newspaper, although with a centre right slant to it's journalism. -
Are there 3 degrees within the Celestial Kingdom?
Latter Days Guy replied to ChronoTrigger's topic in General Discussion
Are you saying you have to be married in the temple to reach the highest degree, or is sealing after a civil marriage included? If it is marriage in the temple then those saints in the UK aren't going to make it to the higher degree as we cannot get married in the temple. -
I really liked the first season of this but stopped watching after a scene at the begining of the 2nd season where they are searching cars and they come to a car with a baby seat in the back covered in blood, just couldn't watch it anymore without the image popping up in my mind.

I thought it was brilliant! But then I've got all 30 Godzilla movies which I also think are brilliant

Just re-watched the LOTR's trilogy (Extended Editions). Hadn't watched them in a few years and forgotten all the little extra's that fill the story out so well!
