  1. I had my patriarchal blessing this evening, was an amazing experience! Obviously I won't go into any details but I felt so close to Heavenly Father during the blessing, it was just amazing!
  2. I really enjoy your posts even if I don't understand some of the things you share. It does spur me on to research what you are trying to get across which helps me grow in my understanding of the church and the gospel! Plus I have a quote from you as my signature!
  3. Thats a bit random in a thread about how long you've been a member of the church! :)
  4. I've found that if the message is important to you and you truly believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, you would want to change the things in your life that aren't in line with what that message teaches. I'm not the most sociable of persons and do find it hard to strike up conversations or make new friendships. But because the gospel is so important to me, I want to do what the Saviour asks us to do, which is to be part of a fellowship of believers.
  5. Thanks for all the replies, its truly uplifting to hear about how people came to the church!
  6. She has it in her head that the church is a cult, is very bad and she wants nothing to do with it. I've tried to talk to her about the church and its beliefs but she refuses to listen. I've spoken to my bishop about the situation and he's very supportive, he has counselled that I don't push things to much and give her space and respect that she wants nothing to do with the church. But also to be the best husband so that the light of the gospel shines through my actions in our relationship. I pray for her heart to soften towards the church as I really want her to see the good it does and eventually for her to join so we can be sealed in the temple together. One of the problems that arises from the situation is callings, I don't have one and cannot have one that would involve me spending a lot of time away from home. The bishop again is very understanding and is looking for something that I can do from home or at church on a Sunday morning. I also cannot go home teaching or have the home teachers visit me so my home teachers see me on a Sunday and share their message via email. Before I returned to church that email was the only contact I had with the church other than via Facebook. I do wish my wife would see the good the church does and become a member, she was active in the local baptist church which is where we met but after we got married she drifted away from there and I began to reinvestigate the LDS church. I do believe she has a Christian faith but she cannot get past the negative things she has been told about the LDS church to see the good it has in it. I do hope that she will see that the church is the restored church of Jesus Christ on the earth, I do hope she will receive a testimony of that fact and become a member. Only Heavenly Father knows what's really in our hearts, so I pray and do all I can to give a positive view to the church.
  7. Is it serious enough that you need to go to the bishop?
  8. Doesn't that mean your banned for life or something?
  9. The cheque is in the post? :) Think I got one but was during a period when I wasn't very active on the site, only noticed when the new site came up and it was under my name! I won a raffle! I never win things so it must be a bunus even if its a bad one!!
  10. I have one but have no idea what for!!
  11. I've read it, a good few years ago though! Borrowed it from the lad who introduced me to his friends the missionaries!
  12. X-Men Days of Future Past. Having read the graphic novel it was a bit meh! Especially after the awesomeness of Godzilla!
  13. Is there a point in a marriage between a member and non-member that the member knows that their partner is never going to join the church and that activity in the church was a major problem between them that they would look to end the relationship to find an active partner in the church? I know that in my situation it does get a bit heated but then I don't think I could leave my wife because she didn't want to join the church. What are the repercussions spiritually with remaining with a non-member partner?
  14. I'm married to a non-member who doesn't want anything to do with the Church. I would say our marriage is happy apart from her dislike of all thinks LDS. We got married while I was inactive and when I began to think about returning she would get very upset. She would often storm out of the house on a Sunday morning leaving me with the kids so I couldn't get to Church. We eventually came to an understanding that I could come back to church as long as it was never mentioned or talked about in the house or have any impact on her life. Was late back from Church the other day due to my temple recommend interview and she blew her stack saying she was going to start her disruptive activities again if I was going to late home ever again! So other than that our marriage is very good!
  15. Don't turn your back on the church and become inactive, stay strong in the gospel and grow a firm testimony of the Saviour and his church.
  16. So nothing sinister then other than checking that the homeless guy they are helping is ok? Some serious rule breaking there then!!
  17. So helping a homeless man is wrong? Been a while since I watched it but was there a reason why they give a key to the young woman?
  18. Preston England Temple because it will be the first temple that I will have the privilege of attending!
  19. Had my interview this afternoon after Church and I was privileged to receive my limited-use recommend! Bishop talked me through what to expect and what I would be able to do at the Temple! I am so excited!
  20. After talking to the Bishop about various things (Patriarchal blessing, temple etc) I found out that I'd been baptised as a member on the 8th of May 1987! So that's 27 years I've been a member of the Church! Although I've spent much of that time as inactive when I did return to church earlier in the year I was amazed at how many people had been praying for my return! I felt very humble that in the great scheme of things little old me was still remembered by my brothers and sisters in the Lord! I know from my own personal experiences that life does have its bumpy patches, some larger than others but looking back I've always felt that Heavenly Father was with me and deep down from the time of those first missionary discussions over 27 years ago that the Church was the restored Church of Jesus Christ. So I was wondering how long others here had been members and if you have been active over the entire period or like myself drifted away for a period before returning back to the fold?
  21. There are Sunday movies? Never heard of that before!
  22. For a film based on a true story, other than the hijacking there isn't much truth to the story! Been a rash of films lately paying lip service to the actually facts there suppose to be based upon.
  23. I've got my temple recommend interview soon, and the bishop said that he was very happy with my progress since returning to Church. Yes I'm hoping to do some temple work, the bishop asked me how it was going with my family history and was pleased to hear that I had done quite a bit work in that regard over the last few months. He said that it would be a limited recommend but I was so excited I forgot to ask what that meant! I must sound like some silly teenager with all my excitement!!
