  2. Meana, Are you sure that your ancestors had not already had temple ordinances done when you entered them on your family tree in FamilySearch/FamilyTree? While my side of the family is done WAY back, we have been or king on my wife's, seems most of her families work has been done as well, with NO LDS members in her family, including her, that we know of. You have to be quick to reserve family names though if have they are older than 110 years. Keep up with your Family History research!
  3. I think I'm more offended by the use of JC or GD than most other swear words. I went from a military contracting job to working in a predominantly Mormon ran department at Micron years ago, swearing was something that would get you sent on your way(other reasons would be found). I ended up going to work with another military contractor after years there. I missed being in the environment where every fifth word was not offensive.
  4. Just seems as though one would be basically complaint about a consistently lazy spouse, like Backroads mentioned. Either the spouse would readily admit it, or their is some other symptom, depression would be one that could match up nicely.I find a lot of What if threads are trollish....
  5. In both of your threads, you forgot about us SAHD(stay at home Dad's).....:) It really does not matter which parent stays at home. I think it makes a difference when one parent is able to though, but financial situations may ny allow that. Regardless, marriage is a partnership, it is not always equal, and life is not fair. If two people have dedicated their life to each other, and made the commitment to have children(which means You shoe them, house them, cloth them, pay for college and a mission if one goes...I do not mean to offend, BUT IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THEM, DON'T HAVE THEM) then you work as a team, united in your goals, always staying focused on what needs to be done. Contention in the home is unacceptable, especially over petty things. In the grand scheme of things, dishes that remain overnight in the sink, or vacuuming the house once a week rather than every day does not really matter.

    Grease

Two uses of the "f" word, and one use of "J". Took my 12 yr. old for her b-day!

    Grease

I'm taking it that no one here watches the Walking Dead, eh?....... "Warm Bodies" anyone? Really, how many times can you watch Suits on the loose? Your kids are seeing worse than "Grease" watching the Disney Channel these days. I thought a few of you were "Twilight" fans......................
  8. Women should not stay in abusive relationships. Throwing canned goods at you, and making contact is abuse, actually I'd call it assault. Do not allow your children to grow up and witness this type of behavior. My father told my wife when we married that if I were to ever lay a hand on her in an aggressive manner he would personally shoot me. I'll tell my son the same thing. Women are to be cherished. Sorry for saying this , but why would you go back to him, and have more kids even? I wish you the best.
  9. ....ask the Missionaries. Feed them, invite them into your home. Go on Splits with them. Attend your meetings. Read the Scriptures.
  10. Sounds like you have a keeper!
  11. I'm sorry that I don't know the OP personally, I was just reading what she wrote, and she did not write that her husband cleans the house quite a bit did she? Seems as though I have offended you? I never said that here husband was NOT a nice guy, NOR did I say that he does not care for his family. However, I did say, and will stand by that statement, and it is not meant to be offensive in any way, that the Church resources should NOT be used just so that you can stay home with your kids. The Lord expects us to be self reliant if we have the means. Jennarator, I hope that you work out the best arrangement for YOU and YOUR family.
  12. If your husband wants a cleaner home then he should pitch in more to help clean. If your income is substantially more than the Husbands, have you two considered HIM being the stay at home parent? I'm a stay at home Dad. My salary was almost triple my brides when we married. She truly wanted to stay in her career(Air Force Officer), and have kids. After our second child was born it was clear that I had the knack and the patience to raise the kids, she did not. I believe the Church resources and Government resources should be used as last resorts. Wanting to stay home with your children is natural, but only feasible is you can afford it, WITHOUT needing others to subsidize your wants.
  13. I will abstain from any further comments on this thread. I was reprimanded for making "derogatory" comments about the church I love and have been a member of my whole life. There is a difference between statements and revelation, and well, apparently some people's definition of "derogatory"..................
  14. Just wait until the bulk of the AHCA (Obamacare) taxes/ increases come into play next year. A great friend lost his job Dec. 20th, "Merry Christmas". Total shock to the eight that were let go. The owner scaled back to below 50 employees, and also reduced the medical benefits package for employees, and dropped the group life/disability coverages altogether. We took a $180 hit for the first 2 week period of this year.
  15. The word of wisdom is the biggest hypocritical doctrine of the church, and one in which MANY church members judge others. Sad that so many will disfellowship those that drink coffee, smoke or drink and yet not all the 2xxl and 3xl and 4 XL size people that don't follow the commandment. Where is it "interpreted" that one is acceptable and one is not? While I may live the word of wisdom, I don't have a testimony of it. What is it about coffee that is bad? Can I drink it iced? Chocolate covered beans? Please don't say caffeine, since I can drink diet Pepsi and hold a temple recommend.
  16. GmJ, Pray about it. I regret never serving a mission and now spend as much time helping the missionaries that I can. Good luck though with either route you decide to take.
  17. Well ths week was no different. Different toddler playing the organ this week though. The isle became a playpen for 2 different families, people going to the podium to bare their testimony had to step over and around the crayons, kids and coloring books. Having grown up in Idaho I have NEVER witnessed this before......We are currently living in Florida and I've never seen cameras come out in sacrament meeting either but it happens here...... Thanks to those that told me I need to gain a testimony, ya, I'll work on that.........we raised two children, neither acted this way in church(even as teenagers now all it takes is a look.........)
  18. Soooooo, I'm really starting to not like going to sacrament meeting. It seems as though lately the parents of small children need some parenting themselves. One family in particular, loves to either sit in front of, or behind our family. They have a toddler that loves to google eye me daughter(11 yr old) but I can't take the noise other 3 children make. I have started coming in just before the meeting starts and sitting down after them. The WHOLE chapel is filled with families like this. Toddlers that can get to the pedals of the organ, get up and join their parents in the middle of a talk, or program. Walk up and down the isles...... This even happens at a baptism....... Hard to feel the spirit when you want to grab someone else's kid and remove them from the meeting. What ever happened to common sense, and the quiet rooms that used to be to the side of the chapels????? My bad for feeling the way I do.............
  19. I hope the country fails under Obama's lack of leadership and knowledge of economics. Maybe we can default like Brazil and Argentina........here's praying that there is NO compromise that leads to more deficit spending with no cuts to the entitlement programs. I also will no longer vote in anything other than state and local elections, and will NEVER vote for anyone professing to be a Libertarian. I officially join the ranks of the disenfranchised. I support secession. EVERYONE get your free stuff while it lasts, sign up for every government handout you can get. Lie, cheat and steal to get it. Keep having six kids you can't afford to feed, cloth or educate. Ensure that your union guarantees it takes 3 guys to do one mans job at pay that would support 10 families. Maybe we can make something out of the countries that form after this union falls. Top it all off and act righteous while you partake of the sacrement.
  20. As a stay at home Dad, with a non-member wife, my income is about 7% of my wife's income. I pay tithing on my income, I am considered a full tithe payer. I do continue to encourage my wife to pay tithing(she does make donations on our behalf and pay fast offerings). It's been a struggle to get my wife to attend church with us and even to allow our children to be baptized, so baby steps do work.
  21. Cool kid, You sinned, you realized this, have made precautions so that it does not happen again. Was this a habit for a while? Or just a slip. Don't answer, the only one that needs to know is someone you tell. If just a slip, repent, go forth and sin no more, that is the plan! Pretty AWESOME path The Lord prepared for us, eh?
  22. My parents were just called to be temple workers in the Boise Temple. When we were kids it was a special road trip to Idaho Falls to do Baptisms for the dead. I know that when we were home this summer the rumor was November. Twin was 90 min, Boise was an hour, no big deal either way, beats a 4 hour drive!
  23. Cops that drive under the speed limit are hazards on the road. Cops are usually the bad drivers as well. No use of turn signals(those crown Vic's must not come with them) I love to watch the stupid maneuvers they make while using crossovers or just plain abusing citizen owned vehicles and just doing some badger hole jumps crossing divided highways. Traffic enforcement is nothing more than harassment and revenue stream(job security).
