  1. Well if Jesus has my back I suppose I ought to trust him!
  2. Being a bit inspired after discussing that opinion Brigham Young had about people living on the moon and falling asleep while watching the movie Castle in the Sky, I awoke and jotted down some things and thought the idea would make a real neat one for a book, a fun book. So many of my stories can be grim, and I wanted to write something that, if I ever sold it, it would be something you'd possibly want in your homes, and not as mulch in the garden:lol: So I ask you all, what do you think they'd be like? What sorts of culture and customs and religions? Names? I already started on some drawings and will post them soon. And no this isn't going to be a sci fi thing, there's a part where a young girl gets down to earth with a rope so... yeah I think it would be for a less serious perhaps younger audience.
  3. I wanna know what life is like in the other kingdoms, cause that's where my family and friends are going and that's probably where I will end up.
  4. Well I don't ever see any of my friends or family joining the LDS church, or any church, my family is very anti-church (or full blown atheists) And my friends couldn't care less about religion or God... I think I will be alone, or rather with whatever future girl I end up with, who somehow got along with me enough to marry me... I'd be the only LDS in my family to date-both sides.
  5. why would a Bishop tell me to get married? And to who? To my knowledge I am not seeing anyone... He can say Lakumi you should get married, but it takes two to tango... no visitors in my home, no exceptions! no idea what lean cuisine is no visitors no visitors! I like books...
  6. if we're named after our heroes then mine is a small doll who may or may not be a Christmas villain!
  7. I see it, for me, in a sad light. None of my friends or family will be there (assuming I make it there), I'll be surrounded by people I don't know and probably don't like! lol At what cost would I get there?
  8. Some LDS short films that I swear are from the 80s. I guess sometimes its nice to watch a movie where no one's head explodes
  9. Yeah my day is alright, I think I have seen the last of snow I assumed as such, but wanted to make sure
  10. I liked starbucks until I saw all of what I was spending on it lol only tea like thing I drink is made from dandelions and its more of a soup since you leave them in and eat them...that's camp food though not normal cuisine. Interestingly enough you can make coffee with dandelions too (well coffee substitute)... tea can be of really any plant, not sure if that goes in the WoW or if anyone ever even thought "hey is tea made from nettles or clovers part of it or not?"
  11. Brace yourself, the anti's are coming!
  12. I do wonder though, when times change things change with them, or get left in the dust. Something no church had has to contend with exists in our modern day-the internet. This effects them more then anyone ever thought, and it is no secret that younger people (namely 20-30) aren't involved with religion. I don't pretend to have a large circle of friends, but it is interesting to note that none of them are religious-and I didn't meet them in the same places, it just is the sign of the times. My generation is fickle and easily connected to information and eachother. That changes things, even its unpleasant to think of...
  13. Yeah most do, but it wasn't him who actually said that!
  14. "You shouldn't believe everything you believe on the internet" -Brigham Young
  15. I have star bases on Titan, Io and several asteroids!
  16. Not totally sure if it counts cause it's not a full movie, but its called Windows of Heaven. I always wondered if Lorenzo Snow made snow related jokes or puns... I thank that movie for answering that!
  17. Oh I've already acquired shapeshifting powers and will be there within a year:lol: No but seriously the second part wasn't meant to be taken truly seriously, just the first part (about absolutes) I find keeping things not 100% serious in debates keeps out any animosity or bad feelings (especially online where one cannot read eachothers faces)
  18. you just said don't use an absolute and in the next line, used an absolute. Don't tell me what I need! You don't know how my mind works or how I interact with other humans.
  19. I still don't understand that whole men will not feel useful thing, I don't need to feel useful when I go to church, that's not why I go. If I wanted to just "feel useful" there's lots of other things I could do. (It reminds me of that men are heads of the household stuff, I appointed a sea shell to that task, hasn't let me down!-but that's another topic)
  20. There could be life within our own solar system. Perhaps it might not be the spaceship making variety, but bacteria on Europa are still aliens.
  21. Methinks its less insecurity and more them being jerks. I mean one can always tell them from their bringing up some old quote or something (sometimes twisted out of context or just something said to be speculation). Like Brigham Young saying he thought there were people living on the moon. Sounds silly now, and anti's latch onto that, without thinking "hey how much did people really know about space in the mid 1800s?"
  22. its one of few foods I dislike, I like both those things on their own though... But slightly back on topic, I always enjoyed reading about the history, it is certainly more documented then say the Catholic church. A lot of people try and toss it at you to say "oh this makes the church bad" but I don't see it that way, history is history for better or worse. And as I said before, there are other churches with far darker histories.
  23. Yeah he even said in my opinion. I mean everyone has them, in my opinion, Peanut Butter and Jam is the most repulsive sandwich ever made. Doesn't make it true, doesn't even mean anyone should believe me, just my opinion. But if Brigham Young or Joseph Smith said that, people would be all over youtube saying how Mormons can't eat that sort of sandwich because one of their Prophets said they hated it. People like that, always try and dig up past stuff. No religion has a perfect history, though I still believe the LDS has a far nicer one then most other churches out there.
  24. The Gospel—The One-Man Power, by Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, vol. 13, pp. 268-274) pg 271, just scroll down a tad
  25. I never took that with any real seriousness (I have heard it before, though have yet to be given something in writing). But even if I was, when was he President of the church, the 1850s (to the 1870s?)? your common man had no clue about anything in space back in those days (I assume) and I also assume I know more about space then those who studied it at the time... I don't think its right to judge a man for being a prophet because he didn't know about space. Sure suppose God could have told him about space, but learning something like that takes awhile and I assume God had better things to do, and say to him then teach him about how the sun works or what the deal is with the moon.
