  1. um. LDS families already do adopt. Alot. Also if there are unwanted pregnancies in the church via fornication, Lds families take those too. I know, cause that is what my sister almost did.
  2. Guys come on. Ajax just has repressed attention deficit tendencies. Poor guy.......... ha ha ha. Back to the original post. Would Moroni go to the war in Iraq? I am not sure. If they attacked us, of course. But I dont know if our country followed the "go to war" guidelines the Lord set for us in D&C. Good question. We need people like Moroni nowadays. Alma 48 says IF all men had been, and were, and forever would be like unto Moroni, the very jaws of hell would have no power over us and the gates of hell would have been shaken forever. It says something to that affect in verse 12 and 13, I think. (I dont have my scriptures with me right now.)
  3. Nate, you really are blessed. You will have a blast, man.
  4. Interesting comparison. I actually like it, to be honest with you. Inmate on death row, sin is wages of death, Christ dying for us, thus our price to pay for him dying for us........oh yeah, good comparison.
  5. Well, I have read somewhere that it is possible that the earth will become so wicked that only LDS people would want to have children. I dont remember the source. That of course, is purely speculation. Now, I dont think that not having 8 children will be a deciding factor in our judgement. I understand the spirit of the law here. But I dont like hearing about Utah families that have 8 plus kids, namely because all moms that do that are baby making machines. While reproducing does bring happiness, I think women are more than just that. My opinion, of course. Anyone from Utah want to respond?
  6. My parents got a divorce when I was 9, and I got over it when I was 18, which is when I had a fall out with my father. I havent spoken to him in 7 years. And honestly....... its one of the best things I have ever done. I dont want to focus on divorce, especially not on this thread. But do all you can..... if it isnt enough....then get help and make a decision. Kids are affected by it for a long time. But sometimes its for the better, too.
  7. I agree with you Kiwababee. I mean, if we are called to live it, then we should be righteous enought to pray about it and get our answer from God on it. I leave it at that. I know that God wont ask me to do something that wont be for my growth and benefit.....and of course, happiness. There truly are more pressing matters that will shake the faithful than what happened with the saints so long ago. Will it happen again? Maybe. Does it have relevance in heaven? Probably. Am I going to lose my faith in God and His church over it? um.. heck no.
  8. ok, so does that include all living things on this earth besides humans?
  9. Well said , Dr. T. Traveler, I think a little more explaining would help your case, given the notion that we may have all misread your post above. But if you dont really give an answer, then all we can do is reply according to what you have written. I mean, you dont really believe that, right?
  10. Ok, thanx for your thoughts, guys. I have a question that popped in my head while reading your posts. Is Jesus's sacrifice vicarious (like Baptisms for the dead vicarious)? I mean, it spans all time and all creatures, or does it just relate to this earth where we dwell? I have heard some things, but before I spout off my mouth, I would like to know what others have deduced. The atonement covers all, doesnt it? Even though it happened like, 1,974 years ago? (please dont make fun of my math..... it happened in the year 0033.)
  11. Good question. But why did Jesus state it in the Bible... or better said, take a look at John 5:19 and John 8:28. That is understood, at least by me anyways, that all that Jesus does, he has seen his father do. Am I right? Maybe the answer to this question is related to the answer of your question. LDS doctrine states that there was a pre-existence (a life, if you will) before we came down to this earth. Maybe it was then?
  12. Truth is.... you have a point. He didnt say anything about a sacrifice. I do remember reading something in Journal of Discourses, if I am correct. Though, I dont remember the quote exactly and I dont remember if it said anything about sacrifice. Good point CK
  13. well said, PC, well said
  14. When we think of openly denying and rebelling against our Creator and Father, we may scoff a bit now. But Satan doesnt work openly like that. It creeps up slowly and bit by bit we move towards rebellion. Like now lifestyles that were rampant in Sodom and Gomorrah are now accepted in society. Some idiots are trying to remove the name of God from society, just like they already did in some states with the 10 Commandments. Remove the name of God from dollar bills, pledge of allegiance, court rooms, etc. I personally think that when the time comes, we may have slipped pretty far from recognizing rebellion against our Creator anyway. Mark of the Beast will be accepted willingly. Its totally the new electronic buying ego driven age.
  15. Well said Nate. God our Father was once a Savior to his Fathers spiritual children. Journal of Discourses say that Jesus did all that he saw his Father do... and what was that? Come down, take up mortality (and a body, which was needed) and lay down his life as a sacrifice.
  16. oh, ok. I hope that isnt a bad thing..... I just like giving what I have heard and studied...even if I dont do it very well.
  17. quick question for you Dr. T.... who is Ray?
  18. I do believe, given scriptures and temple sessions, and everything I have read on the subject, that Jesus of Nazareth is the OT god Jehovah and is referred as the Alpha and Omega of this earth. (Doctrine and Covenants, anyone?)Christ is an office, oh I agree with you there. Nothing I have said takes anything away from that. But Jesus, being the only Begotten, and the mediator for us on THIS earth, he has been in every stage that this earth has gone through, such as the creation, the teaching of the plan of salvation to different dispensations, to the second coming to the millenium until this earth is celestialized. He is in everything, so to speak. I understand your post, church girl, but when you say the office of Christ was used by another Christ during times on this earth instead of Jesus Christ, I stopped understanding. The order of heaven would forbid it. Only people who can show/act upon this earth are those who have lived on it personally, except for God. And he has only shown himself (God the Father) I think (note the words I think) 3 times period. This is the order of heaven to the angels as well. There have been millions of plans of salvations and redeemers and children of God. But each earth has its own script and actors. Every prophet, apostle, and 70 has confirmed that Christ is Jehovah. Christ himself says so in every book of scripture. Christ is an office, but Jesus has been the be all end all aka Jehovah here on this earth. I have scriptures and basically every church resource that backs this up. What do you base your opinions off of? I am not being mean, just wish to understand why you say a savior from another world would play a part on this earth.
  19. well, lets start with Jesus baptism. 3 persons in the same place at the same time. Voice of God the Father, Holy Ghost in form of dove, and Jesus in the flesh. Crucifiction....... who was Jesus praying to? "Father why didst thou forsake me?" Jesus wouldnt pray to himself now, would he? Same in the Garden of Gethsemane. That is what I tried to mean. I think Crimson has a better way of explaining some things than myself. Sorry if I am not being consistent. (It is nearly 2:30 am lol.)
  20. I was wondering when Crimson was going to step in and help me out there. Seems that happens a few times when I unsuccessfully explain a few things. Thanx again Crimson (Ladies and Gentlemen, correction is a GOOD thing.)
  21. LDS members believe that Jesus, God, and Holy Ghost are three different personages, yet the same in oneness of mind and purpose with God. Some examples that are used to illustrate such beliefs are the baptism and crucifiction(ok, I spelled that word wrong) of Jesus. Also while in the Garden of Gethsamane, Jesus states "pass the cup from me, but be done not my will, but thine." and the such. That is why on previous posts, I was talking about Jesus being the God Jehovah.
  22. I think it meant the Trinity, but I am not sure either.
  23. Ok. Bible Dictionary under topic Jesus Christ, Creator. There are quite a few. John 1:3,10 and one I like is Heb. 1:2, which states that by the Son all things were created. Also, Jehovah gave the law of moses. Jesus completely fulfilled it. Isnt it right that the one who gave it was the one who completed it and abolished it? Jesus makes reference to himself as Jehovah, with the woman at Jacobs well, saying the term I AM, which was how Jehovah declared himself to Moses in the burning bush. Also, he states this term to the Jews in the New Testament, and declares before Abraham was, I AM(which in Hebrew is the same meaning as stated to the woman at Jacobs well aka Jehovah.) If you place the comma right, the scripture has more meaning to it. Ex. Before Abraham, was I Am. That is why the Jews became incensed and took up stones to stone Jesus. They knew what he was saying. He was saying that he was Jehovah before Abraham was born. That was considered blasphemy, hence they wanted to stone him. There are a few more as well, and some are found in the Bible Dictionary. Book of Mormon and D&C and Pearl of Great Price are rife with this, but I would like to stick to biblical scriptures since it is used by many, many different religions. If a Bible dictionary isnt present, sorry about that. It is just an LDS reference guide to old and new testament topics. 24. Very well. Let me get a couple of materials for 5 minutes.
  25. That would be a negative, Ghost Rider. Jesus was/is Jehovah. Just old and new testament scriptures alone show that. There are alot of examples I could give. but to answer your thoughts, it cant be the father of jesus as jehovah. That would throw the whole law of moses and the office of Christ per se out of whack.
