You should read chapter 4, of Steven Levitt's "Freakonomics".. I think you would like it.

and the point of this is? Your more likely to find a Buddhist in Provo, then you are to find a democrat in the military. Odd thing though...its a small world.. I had A.J in one of my poly sci classes last semester. We both almost got thrown out of class for getting in rather heated debate on the constitutionality of some of bush's presidential signing statements.

If my profs wouldn't collude to all assign papers at the same time I would have more time to post. Recently I've been off and on, it happens when you have three 10 page papers all due at the same time. Also I'm going to start a lobbying effort for standardizing the formats of academic papers. Have one paper due in MLA, one in APA, and one in CMS...This madness has to stop.

What the?? Looks like something you would expect in San Fransisco. And as an education major, don't get me started on liberal influences on our schools, its all over the place not just in the blue states.

I sometimes truly question the sense of some people on this form... Thats why I haven't posted a lot lately, a lot of what I have seen on here lately is completely nonsensical. note: Bless you PC, you seem to be the voice in the wilderness with some common sense here.

Or sicko pedophile like Micheal Jackson....you never know I'm always amazed at all the stuff people put up about themselves online in places like myspace, facebook, ect. The new voyeurism of the 21st century?? ...Perhaps. We had a girl here at Penn State that got booted out of the teaching program because she had a pic of herself smoking a bong on her myspace page. Then she had the nerve to cry foul and claim her privacy was violated? -
Ben. Perhaps I misspoke. In late 2000 it capped at slightly over 140, and was in a steady decline, until the middle of 2003, when it bottomed out at 75. That is what I meant, I didn't mean it dropped that much in one year. My main point was that I didn't like that article for suggesting you put all your money in just one place.
-
The main problem with this article is suggesting that you put all your money into one fund. You don't put all your eggs in one basket, that's just basic investing 101. Just as an example... He list the vanguard 500 index fund. This muni lost almost 40% of its value in 2000 and has just recently reattained its pre-2000 values. Granted though its a large cap moderate growth fund, so it shouldn't fluctuate that much. If you a younger investor, you would could potentially do a lot better with short-term investing in smaller cap aggressive growth funds, or individual stocks. You may take some losses, but with careful diversification you could offset most small loses, and still net more in the long run. While you are young though you can be a lot more bullish with your investments. Not saying you should ignore more traditionally investment vehicles like IRAs (though if your young you should be going for a roth IRA, for the tax benefits, depending on your income), large cap munis or bonds.

First computer my family had was an Apple IIc. My first computer that I owned was one of those old IBM Thinkpad laptops with the butterfly keyboards, I can't remember the specs exactly, but I think it was a 486 DX/2 66mhz, or something like that. My first real experince, that I leared a lot about computers from, was when I was in Germany. My dad and I ran a 20-node WildCat 4 BBS.

Paypal does charge you when you use it to accept paypal payments on ebay, which is ironic considering e-bay hits you with a final value fee too, and e-bay bought paypal some years ago, so they just get to hit you with two fee's when you use it.

Ask and ye shall receive. That was quick. :)
