  1. Of course. We have those at most church dinners and all funerals.
  2. It's green jello with carrots in it. A favorite joke among Mormons. I always thought of it as a joke that was never actually served until I had some at my grandpa's funeral a few years ago.
  3. My immediate reaction was to go for the porn guy, mainly out of concern about STDs. Then I thought, does putting all other things equal mean that it has been proven that he has no STDs or children from prior liaisons? In that case I really do not have enough information to make a decision.
  4. I agree that you need to study the scriptures themselves and wanted to say something about that in my first post but couldn't figure out how to word what I wanted to say about the importance of it. Edspringer summed it up pretty well there. As for how to work it into your life in a maintainable way, when my grandmother was trying to build up her scripture study habit, she'd leave her scriptures open on the kitchen table or counter, where she would come across them several times a day, ready to read. Is there someplace you could leave yours that could work similarly? Or you could listen to the lds.org scripture recordings every day; that's the only way a friend of mine could find to manage it for a while. But definitely pray for guidance about the best way for you to get your scripture study in and really listen for an answer. Edited to add that if you don't get any special impressions, get started with something you think could work.
  5. Have you checked out mormonchannel.org? They don't exactly do scripture commentary, the closest thing being a few Scripture Stories series aimed at children where "Each episode features children sharing their insights from and favorite experiences with the scriptures, along with music and readings of great stories from the scriptures." But they have live talk and music streams as well as quite a few Audio series that you can listen to at any time, including Stories from General Conference, Why I Believe, Perspectives on the Prophet Joseph Smith, and His Grace In-Depth.
  6. The first difference I noticed was that Christ seems to be asking for glory that was His already. Satan wants to take the Father's glory.
  7. Have I asked for forgiveness? Have I stopped whatever it is that I'm repenting of? And if it's something I've been seeing the bishop about, I'd probably add Have I been following his counsel/instructions? If so, then I figure I've been forgiven.
  8. Thanks for all the nice welcomes. Well, I already had this made for another account where I use this same name and I find it helpful to have a "face" of some sort when being social online.
  9. To me, the fact that Heavenly Father mainly or solely speaks directly to people on Earth in order to introduce His Son indicated that He wants us to mainly focus on Christ. But on a sort-of related point, a friend of mine and I have both felt closer to Heavenly Father than to Jesus because our prayers are directed to the Father, so we are talking to Him every day.
  10. Hello. Like I said in the title, I've lurked around here quite a bit already. I don't remember how long ago I first came; let's call it months. I've considered creating an account and posting a few times since then and finally did tonight in order to make a comment on another thread that I still wanted to say a while later. I'm a lifelong church member and don't really know what else to say here.
  11. Lehi I'm pretty sure the 1981 edition of The Book of Mormon has been censured by a few people, and maybe the 2013 one too. Looks like Sunday's wish has already come true.
