  1. It's probably best to not drive until the storm is over. If you are ever in the South and it snows...no matter what...no matter how important it is...DO NOT DRIVE. Your life depends on that. They do not know how to drive in any amount of snow in the Southern US...and you can DIE by others ramming into you in the craziness that follows. I know I am an extremely WEAK driver in snow, driving in Snow makes me extremely nervous. Craziest driving I ever encountered though was in Italy. I'm not sure why they even have traffic laws there sometimes. Some of the roads in Southern Europe (more towards Greece and the Eastern portions) in the cities are crazy though, and driving through those probably had the native drivers thinking I had no idea where I was going (and honestly...I probably didn't).
  2. How to explain this...It's more a difference in cultures. The culture you live in and how you do things are different than what I am used to. It can be hard to understand different cultures and their reasons for doing things. Many times, different cultures have extremely different mindsets about things and what is good, what is bad, what is okay, and what is not. Trying to understand by comparison of your own culture is not necessarily trying to say one is better than the other, but trying to understand the differences and what drives those differences as well as how that mindset works in conjunction with other things. No, not virtue signalling. There are MANY that I grew up with and in my age range that were taught a great respect for the law. I don't KNOWINGLY (there's a difference between knowingly and purposefully) breaking the law, and you may be surprised that there are actually many people out there that try their best to obey every law out there. When you live like that and are raised like that, it is very hard to understand those who choose to break even small laws on purpose. That doesn't mean we always keep every law because, as I said, one may break one out of ignorance. But the idea of breaking the law on purpose is strange, and breaking it on purpose regularly is even odder. This isn't virtue signalling anymore than any other person in another part of the US or another nation virtue signals that they obey the laws in their area. There are plenty of people in other states that do not speed (and yes, many that do, but I've NEVER encountered so many in such a group as I have in Utah), and many that try as best they can to obey the laws that their nation, states, and locales have in place. I do not feel this is a cultural artifact that all Saints have all over the world. Yes, there are some out there that regularly break rules, but most of those that I have known outside of the Church dominated areas of the West actually are pretty law abiding in every way. It was one of the BIG reasons that the Church was allowed behind the Iron Curtain many years ago when we tried to build temples in East Germany. They heard and felt that the Saints would support the Government and obey the laws that were in place. Our Articles of Faith imply it, and many of our General Authorities taught it. It wasn't a matter of convenience or ignoring the little things, but obeying their leaders as best they could. You may be surprised at how many actually do not speed in other places and do their utmost best to follow other rules. As I said above, different cultures value different things and do things differently. I think you take it the wrong way and that you think I'm trying to offend. I'm not trying to offend you, simply understand. The Culture where it is acceptable for every person on the road to break the law is a different culture from the one I grew up in and understand. Trying to understand other cultures can be useful. I don't know how to explain it to you, but I guess it would be like if you came out to the East Coast. In Utah, the Law of Chastity still means something to members of the Church. In the East Coast and California and many portions of Europe breaking the Law of Chastity is no big deal to people in the culture. Things that may be a big deal in Utah (for example, pornography) is just a matter of life going on for 99% of people (who are not members of the Church). It's accepted as common. Someone who is not from that culture could be blown away. If they then said to you...come on...everyone does that, it's no big deal. It's not just something we do, everyone, even you...have to have done this stuff sometime... You'd probably say...no...not really, that doesn't really describe me or members of my church. Many actually DON'T do that type of stuff. That's not virtue signalling. (and no, members out East and out of the Utah areas do NOT break the Law of Chastity like those around them, but as they are a minority compared to the rest of the population, their impact is statistically insignificant on the rest of the culture). A different approach, but one that I CAN understand. In the Middle East in many nations I have been to, you can trust your wallet anywhere (not that I would). The people you have to worry most about are actually those who are not born in those nations. Those born in those nations know better. Part of this is their religion, another part though is the extremely harsh penalties in place if they steal something. They are extremely moral in comparison to those in the US, but much of that is that the laws are based more on Islam and the penalties are harsh enough that many Americans would consider it violations of Human Rights. This isn't saying that I have not ever broken a small law or had an infraction, but I try to obey the laws as best I can. It's not a matter of convenience that makes it okay. That's part of the culture I live in, but it may not be the culture of those in the area of Utah between Salt Lake and Provo. I don't know exactly, which is why I'm trying to see the reasons and how it works in their minds. On the note that I was trying to pursue, I thank you for the insight you have given me. It is interesting to read your opinion on the law and reasons why people speed over the limit in Utah. I imagine that this is the reason that many in Utah speed. It's a matter of convenience. It's an entire culture I suppose that will speed or other things if it's convenient...which is a cultural aspect of people in those areas of the world (Utah...etc). Which posits my next question...if one will speed for convenience...will they do other things as a matter of convenience by seeing them as little things that do not matter overall? If not, why not? If it's okay to break what one sees as minor laws for convenience, why not things they see as minor commandments or rules and such? (And as a side note, I have some kids that live in Utah, and I haven't actually noticed this trend in them, but then, as they know I'm their dad and grew up with me, it could be that they hide these things from me when we visit as well).
  3. What can make it tougher is once the ballots are in the system, separating the false from the real is very hard (I've heard it's actually impossible, but I'm not one who counts the ballots). However, Georgia being one way or the other wouldn't change the election at this point...though they should use it as a point to be more vigilant in the run offs.
  4. I'm not chastising you, I'm curious why you think it's okay to speed. From you comments are you also saying you are okay with littering, jaywalking, sharing a prescribed medicine (please tell me you don't do this...that's actually probably worse than speeding or any of the other items you mention) or public indecency. These are NOT okay in my book, but I wasn't actually commenting on them. I understand (at least in some instances) that there are many people that do not know some of these things are laws and thus do them by accident. There can be occasional mixups with people, but speeding tends to be entirely different. The reason, is that in order to get a license you must study to pass a test over the laws of the road. After you pass that test you have to take a driving test in many locations. After that, at least every few years, most locations also have you take another written or other type of test to ensure you still understand. Those who speed do so under full knowledge that they are breaking the laws. In Utah, at least between Salt Lake and Provo this seems to be the norm rather than the exception. As a majority there are members of the Church, and the Church teaches to obey the laws of the land...it strikes me as strange that so many choose to speed. Does this ability to try to excuse speeding translate to how they handle other rules as well? T It isn't you, it seems that it is a common mindset, but one that I don't exactly understand. I'm trying to understand why people would do this? What is going through their heads? It is obviously breaking the law, but they obviously also feel it is justified and the correct course of action? Is it because they feel it is just a minor infraction? Does this also apply to other rules as well? Does it apply to commandments also (just a small sin...nothing more). As it would be something done on purpose (not by accident) it raises my question even more. It is an active choice to do so. What is the reasoning? It's just me trying to understand the viewpoint of those who do so (and as I said, it seems there are a LOT of members with this viewpoint, so understanding why they feel and think this way could be useful). This isn't condemnation, but trying to understand the viewpoint of those who do so. If you break the speed limit a little, you make a prime person to ask. I don't understand it, but you probably do. If you could just explain it to me of why?
  5. That's probably an easier question. Remain righteous and worthy. Keep your covenants. Be a worthy Priesthood Holder and listen to the Brethren. Basically, be Righteous and follow the Lord.
  6. Total Guess is it would be number 2. At first I thought it would be #3, with the assumption you were in Utah and going from Utah to Florida by train would take enough time that you'd be there for a day and then have to come back with several days travel in between. However, it may be that if you actually lived out east (which would be how you why you'd have courtside seats...would be strange fro someone from Utah to want courtside seats at Purdue...but stranger things have happened...I hear they have Utahns who are Patriot fans afterall...) both #1 and #3 wouldn't be that unusual. Still, complete guess on my part. #2 is a tweak, meaning it has some truth, but tweaked just enough to become untrue...once again...a guess on my part. (you and your wife were going to adopt?)
  7. That sounds like it could be a wonderful experience and can give a lot of bonding between you and your grandchild. If you start them young with learning letters and numbers, sometimes it can also help them do better and get ahead of their peers later on. We have had some of our grandkids doing homeschooling during this pandemic and from the questions they ask about topics they are learning it seems FAR MORE rigorous than what they had previously gotten in public schools. I sent our kids to public schools but things have changed since then for many. I can understand why some may choose to educate their children from home these days instead.
  8. These queries are rather specific. Most people KNOW about speed limits and why they are there...that question about receipts on the otherhand, I'm not so sure I know which law you are referring to. It's not really something I've had to worry about, but it is oddly specific and not something that I think would be common knowledge. Some of these are really odd as well...the Macarena? I've heard the song, but I never really organized the Stake Youth Dances or other such things, so I have no idea whether the High Counselor or Young Men's/Young Woman's Stake President got the rights or not. However, I don't think that's the point you are trying to make...is it? Let's just say, for the sake of your questing...that for some reason I broke the law of some sort. Let's say, instead of some of the rather specific things you listed (and no, I don't jaywalk either and no, I see no reason to not return someone else's mail to the postal carrier or if a neighbor, bring it to them...etc...etc...etc) I went out and was a serial murderer. Rather than smaller legalities being broken (and I'm not sure all of yours are even breaking the law in some areas...for example...that thing about receipts...and Seat Belts are required in some states...but not everywhere as well...though I DO wear seatbelts as a matter of habit) let's go with a Big one. We should compare examples that are more alike. Many of what you list could not be understood by some (for example, public indecency laws are what I imagine you were inferring to when talking about individuals urinating on a tree in a public park...which is rather disgusting...there are public restrooms in most parks for a reason. There may be some that do not know about these laws or come from areas that do not have them and thus are committing these infractions). However, those who speed regularly know EXACTLY what they are doing, and know they are breaking the law by speeding (if nothing else, there is a driving test, normally with a written test, done regularly to see if one understands the laws of the road). So, let's go with me being a serial murderer who knowingly goes about breaking the law. It is far worse than speeding by a long shot. How does my commission of a crime justify someone else breaking the law?
  9. That's kind of a strange question. What is so odd about having them in the beginning of the video? I think it's a picture showing that the Lord loves and cares for all of his children no matter who they are, though including people of different races may be the more obvious way of doing that I suppose. I don't think much thought was given to what pictures were being used or the details of them...because some very crazy things could come to light if we really think they put a lot of thought into it. If we wish to get humorous, we could point out various aspects (such as, only the boys are interracial children...or...why all the followers who rebelled are white...at least in one picture. Or, even more interesting...seeing many current ideas about beards being on leaders in the Church today and the need to shave...why the Lord and the Father both have beards, but the leader of those that rebelled (our adversary) is clean shaven. Things that if we really wanted to get into the nitty gritty and feel every picture was carefully planned and placed in the video can make you go... Hmmm.... (Aka...I think they put pictures they felt were nice and illustrated their ideas into the video, but other than that not a lot of thought was actually put into the artwork).
  10. If it is fatalities, that could explain Utah to a certain degree. Utah could have extremely terrible drivers, but a LOT of them do NOT DRINK Alcohol. A surprising number of people in other states drink Alcohol quite liberally and then many of them drive. On New Years Eve or a few other evenings throughout the year, me and my spouse choose to avoid driving entirely due to how many intoxicated people will be on the roads in some states. Drunk Driving (or buzzed driving) leads to fatalities in accidents. Utah, though SLC may have more, it is still statistically significantly less, has less intoxication in general than any other state in the Union. Intoxicated driving probably leads to far more deaths than many other factors. Alaska probably has a harsher driving climate for much of the year. If they drink as much in Alaska as some other states, that combined with the harsher weather conditions could lead to some very abnormal spikes occasionally.
  11. I think you are putting too much weight on ONE election here. The corruption goes far longer and deeper than that. I think there was fraud in the election, and I question some of the numbers, but I think both sides were involved with it in various ways. It is plausible that the Democrats were more responsible in some ways, and their claims that there is no evidence of voter fraud I think is ignoring things (for example, I said even before the election that there was NO WAY Georgia would go to Biden). That said, I think they can only tweak the numbers so much and so far, and even with that, Trump still won a considerable number of areas. I think this type of fraud did NOT just appear in this election, but has been ongoing for some time. The fact that more did not complain about it in 2000, or 20004, or 2008, or 2012, or 2016 and only NOW are shouting it out indicates that it is NOT as big a problem as some think it is now...otherwise they'd have shouted louder before. It is only the individual that lost that they are following so intently that leads them in this direction, but the ironic thing about Trump that some have noticed is that when he accuses others of things, many times it is something he is also doing and thus has an easier time noticing. FAR more alarming to me is something that has been occuring in the US for a while, and far beyond just tweaking numbers for an election, is actually stealing our rights and our freedoms. The Patriot Act, to me, is the single most devious act that tears down many of the freedoms we have been given under the Constitution. It DOES grant us more security, it DOES grant us better abilities to track the enemies of the United States, but at what cost? We have lost the ability to freely trust we can communicate securely with each other as citizens, we have lost the ability to be free from searches without a warrant (when they get material from your communications without a warrant...to ME that indicates a violation of the intent of the Bill of Rights, even if they legally can say they have not violated it). I cannot understand why Americans simply accepted it and are not offended by such an act. To me, this is what Americans should be protesting and should have been protesting for the past decade and more. There are other laws that have come upon the books in the past decade that are of deep concerns which should also be alarming to Americans, but instead of concern I see general acceptance. In comparison, though I think the events that indicate election fraud as troubling, there are far more troubling things that have been passed through the Halls of Congress that are having a far deeper impact upon our freedoms and protections as Citizens of the United States.
  12. This is an excellent point, and the scriptures also point out something very interesting regarding when the nations are swept off. Normally there is NO GOOD or BAD/EVIL defined sides...instead...BOTH sides are evil. They are opposites in evil, but they represent evil in their own ways and devices. It is a war that is spread around by bitter hatred by both sides to try to kill each other in totality. As we look around in the political landscapes of the US (and many Western nations) today, I think one could see the seeds of these types of hatreds growing. Much like it did among the Jaredites, as their hatreds and intrigues of evil increased, their desire for the blood of those they saw as enemies also increased. One of the GREAT and DEFINING things about the Constitution was that it was an attempt to forge the union of different ideas and ideologies. It was the groundwork to sponsor cooperation and unification between different people of different viewpoints. The Constitution is a thing that understands that there are those with very different views and ideas, but that by working together people can cooperate to make something greater. The GOOD is not out to destroy the other parties, but to preserve the rights and freedoms that they have. The Nephites while righteous never sought to destroy the Lamanites, only to preserve their lands, their families, and their freedoms. They did not fight out of hatred, but out of love of family and freedom. They did not instigate war, but only defended their right to exist. They did not go to conquer, but to retain that which they had. Eventually that Love sent the Sons of Mosiah to convert many to the Lord's gospel, and later, when the Lord visited the Americas, to convert the entire people to righteousness. Good seeks to convert in love and teaching rather than to destroy or dominate. Hate for their fellowmen has no place among the righteous (in my thoughts). Today, there is far too much hatred in the United States between the so called Conservatives and so called Liberals.
  13. I'm not so certain they said that...I was more under the impression that they were stating that Texas cannot dictate to Pennsylvania or any other state beyond Texas what they have to do. The same would apply to other states. They cannot dictate to another state what they can or cannot do in regards to choosing their electors. It's a matter that must come from within those states themselves and then be judged upon the merits and evidence of those cases.
  14. Which puzzles the world out of me. I always thought that as members we are taught to respect and follow the laws of our respective lands and nations. If we are willing to bend or fabricate around a law a little, that would apply to the way we adhere to many of the other laws, inclusive of the commandments in our lives as well. But, in some areas of the US where the Church dominates, it seems that members are more than willing to excuse breaking the law just a little bit on purpose, to get somewhere faster, or to get do other things. It's an idea that I do not quite understand of WHY it is acceptable, but perhaps others can explain to me. On the otherhand, people would complain that I normally am a slower driver. In Utah, there is an IMMENSE peer pressure simply from the fact that you are the slowest thing on the road if you drive the speed limit, and people will get hostile and angry at you (honking, tailgating, etc) if you drive anything slower. I tend to drive around 60-65 regardless if the speed limit is higher in the state I am in, as that seems quite fast enough on the highway. It also tends to save gas in some vehicles. I do not see the need to drive faster than the speed limit except in extreme cases (ambulance driving someone to the hospital for example, police officer escorting a pregnant woman about to give birth...etc). I'll try to drive the speed limit on the roads that are not the highway, but generally am around 1 mile under it unless in a vehicle that allows me (some modern ones do) to be exactly on the speed limit. I can understand someone doing it by mistake, but how they do it in Church dominated areas regarding the speed limit is a curiosity that I've never had anyone actually explain (at least that I remember at the moment, they may have, but I don't recall it at this time) why they do it. Perhaps you can explain why you drive over the speed limit normally.
  15. I think what the Lord taught about Forgiveness was in regards to the idea of what this video calls Exoneration...or forgive and forget. It was not about forgive but don't forget, or do not forget and hold it against them but don't let it affect your emotions or actions anymore...it as about forgiving and wiping the slate clean. There IS a little more than that, in my opinion, which they do not cover in the video and which I do not think they really think about. They would probably say this falls under their idea of forbearance, but when truly done, you DO wipe the slate as clean as possible and do not hold it against the person in the future. HOWEVER...you can still be wise in your judgement. For example, a salesman that comes to your door selling beachfront in Kansas that you know is on government land is not someone you would trust and not someone you would probably something from. This has NOTHING to do with ever having seen that salesman before (you haven't) or him having caused anything against you (he has not), but more that you are wary of things and actions that may not be honest or truthful. Another more real example from my life. I had a friend that has repeatedly stolen from me. One of the first items were some valuable historical antiques (at least to me) that they took. That was offensive, but I forgave them. Later, I had some military materials (medals, uniforms, etc) that I was storing but didn't necessarily have in my own home at the time (some of it had disturbing memories or I simply didn't want to devote the room to it at that time...though much of it was still precious to me). They simply took the items, and as I found out, sold some of it (for prices that surprise me...some of it I assume to those who were trying to steal valor or other things...which also rather disturbed me). Once again, I forgave them and really, I don't care anymore. It is what it is. It is as if it did not occur between us to that degree. Finally, they went and stole some of my guns from my house. That also was somewhat disappointing...but once again, I have forgiven them. You may ask, why do I keep forgiving them in these instances...obviously because I wipe the slate clean it continues to allow them opportunies to steal more from me. This is true, however I see it more as times when they have disappointed me in their failure to improve themselves rather than remain upset about it. I have accepted them for who they are. It is in their nature to do as they do. It means that I realize it is their nature and I TRY to be more careful with my stuff around them and what I do with it, but I ALSO realize that it is who they are and forgive them. It is my fault for being careless when I know their nature...NOT their fault necessarily for falling to the nature of which they are so inclined to listen to. Thus, I can forgive them and have no grudges or hold anything against them. To me, I keep them as a friend...and do not hold it against them. Rather, it is my own failings for the most part that allowed them the situation to steal. I KNEW their nature and should have guarded more closely against it, but I should not hold it against them for falling to their nature when I knew what it was. Instead, I should realize my own part in allowing them to do as they did. They are now in prison and I try to visit them at least once or twice a year (they live across the country). I still am their friend (whether they realize it or not) and try to help them in whatever way I can. If they were released it is possible I might even host them in my home if it was absolutely necessary to help them get back on their feet. I would hope that they have learned from their experiences, but it is possible that their nature would take over again and if I am not more careful, I would once again find myself missing valuable items. So, I think there is a way to forgive completely but at the same time use wisdom in interactions with someone. You can realize what a persons nature is, and what they are likely to do, and act in accordance with that, while at the same time forgiving them of the offenses or actions they took against you in the past and not holding it against them.
  16. I've driven in Utah...I'm surprised that Utah is not lower due to one of the ratings they use...speeding. I drove on the Highway between Salt Lake and Provo Utah...I don't think a single driver was following the speed limit. I was right at the speed limit and was like the tortoise to the Hare compared to everyone else...I was the slowest thing on that Highway! Driving in Salt Lake City's Rush Hour was bad...it was shorter than Los Angeles but the drivers in Utah have no care in the world. It rained while I was there (in Utah) and they had car crashes...IN A LIGHT RAINFALL!!! They can't drive in rain (though I suppose they can in snow). They are some of the rudest drivers I've driven around...though they WERE actually more polite than those I found in Idaho (which were ruder still!) and Colorado. Los Angeles and San Francisco may have a longer rush hour, but the people at least seemed a LOT MORE considerate while driving than in Utah and Idaho (or, to clarify, at least the areas that I drove through in Utah and Idaho. A Caveat though is that the driving was a LOT better and respectful once you hit North Salt Lake, past exit 306 going North is like night and day. The drivers become much more respectful and a LOT more likely to follow the speed limit...it's south of there that they seem insane drivers).
  17. Such pessimism about disease. I sure hope there isn't a new disease that comes around. 1. The Vaccine will help many to return largely to normal. 2. We will be able to do temple work in the temple again. 3. One of my grandkids will be ordained a Deacon, another a Teacher. 4. We will have General Conference where people will be able to attend in the Conference Center again. More Risky thoughts... 5. We Will have at least one new Apostle called 6. We will have an uptick in violence from the more radical sides of our nation (left and right). 7. We will have a stronger push towards environmental regulations in the US 8. A more hostile promotion against Religion will be put forth by various Governments, including the US. The only bastion against it (unless we lose another judge) will be the Supreme Court.
  18. I'm not a big Comicbook person, but if I recall, wolverine has three claws that come out of the back of his hand...it's Sabertooth that has the claws come out of his fingertips...I think...
  19. They ARE a private company, but with the proliferation of the myriad videos placed on it, they are basically a monopoly in some parts of the world. They need a valid competitor which they are NOT ALLOWED to quash. It would be great if they HAD an equal competitor, or at least one that could grab at least 30% of the market share in those areas of the world. It is not just the censure that they feel they can now implement, but other policies that have occurred over the past year or two which indicate they realize how much of a monopoly they currently hold. ONLY a company with a monopoly would implement some of the policies they have implemented (monetization [with the imposition of ads and commercials]of non-monetized videos and those of charity or non-profit organizations for one) recently. They are a private company, but they either need to be broken up due to monopolization of the market, or they need to have a competitor which actually IS a competitor and is allowed to flourish as such.
  20. I'm ABSOLUTELY against the way many of the Liberals want to do this...because it equates a tyranny that the founding fathers were absolutely against, the Tyranny of the Majority. If 5 cities rule the entire country because the majority of the population lives there, there is no benefit for the rest of the 46 states. The US is supposed to be a UNION...not a tyranny where the demands of three or four states can be implemented upon every other state of the union. This is why there is a division of Houses, but ALSO why we saw how they implemented the creation of States in regards to both houses of Congress. If they WISH to implement an increase of representatives (which I am not opposed to, as long as they create a BALANCED approach where the minority populated states can be represented alongside the majority populated states) they ALSO need to create more states so that areas can also represent minority interests (minority in this instance meaning those from less populated areas). This was one of the BIG issues in writing our Constitution, and though people are wanting to ignore this idea now, the BALANCE of representation is actually a pretty important and foundational idea of our national Constitution. When we capped the number of representatives, it caused a problem...but the problem was already starting because we capped the number of States. Of course, part of this is because of how the Constitution defines how an area can become a state, and almost no state wants to give up it's power in order to allow it to be broken into smaller states...OR...as in the case of California...we see the representation of the majority overruling the minority population by tyranny and as such, no state can be formed no matter how much those in the areas that are no longer truly represented wish to have their own state. If ONE could balance the representation, where more states were produced and thus would also have at least one representative and two senators...I think there would be more acceptance to return to the old ways of getting more representatives in regards to the amount of population. However, MOST liberals do not even mention this because it is NOT balance of representation they are after, but the tyranny of the majority...an item which SHOULD be deeply offensive to anyone who is truly respectful of how and why our nation was formed and the REASONS the Constitution was written. Many in favor of the increase of representatives without an increases of states (and thus representation of the minority population) among the liberals are those who are ignorant of history...but there are others who are simply just as evil as they argue their conservative counterparts are. They simply want to dictate to everyone else what everyone else HAS to do, with no regard to what their wishes may be. They want this tyranny because they THINK (not that it will always be that way) that the tyranny of the majority they implement will favor the ideas that they wish to promote or push. I am against this type of idea....HOWEVER...I also understand why many also feel that the way we currently do things with our representation is also not in line with what was originally intended, and why those in Los Angeles or San Francisco (though, ironically, they feel free to disregard any and all of the ideas from the rural areas of California where certain restrictions are placed upon the citizens in those areas with no regard with what those citizens actually desire or want) may feel less represented in their votes than someone from Wyoming or South Dakota in regards to the Presidential election. The fix then is NOT simply to increase the number of representatives in the House to favor only the majority of the population, as well as the number of electoral votes lest we get a President that only represents those in a few states without the say of any others, but to find a balance which creates a representation for both the majority and the minority populated areas of the US. This can ONLY be done (in my opinion) with the creation of more states from the states that already exist. This is why you have such a barrier to the creation of more representatives as a whole currently. Those in rural areas see what has happened in the West (in California and other areas which implemented the tyranny of the majority) and absolutely do not want to allow that to occur in the rest of the Union. Those who want to even out the representation are so set in their ways that they will not even consider alternatives which would favor better representation for everyone, and thus you have the great divide and the great problem where we have uneven representation among the electoral choices in such things as the Presidential election, as well as uneven representation in the House of Representatives (for example, some of the areas of California which sway more conservative do not have that representation in the US Congress due to being lumped into more Liberal areas of California because of the limitations on representatives...
  21. Originally, electors were NOT actually beholden to the public vote. They COULD be, but they were not necessarily so. Even today, in several states they do not hold that electors MUST vote the way that they were chosen to vote. This makes it evident that the party SHOULD ensure they have faithful electors, instead of faithless electors...but several states do not enforce faithless elector laws upon faithless electors. Part of this is because electoral votes were seen as the insurance against an easily led and swayed public, even a public that was supposed to be better informed and educated (the landowners and such) than the general public. This meant that the REAL election is the electoral vote, and though today many electors are held by law to vote in the way that their public voted, it is still the electoral vote...NOT the public votes...that determine the next President. The Fraud then, even if true, even if proven, could in theory, have no effect upon the actual (the electoral) election. It is actually, though highly influenced BY the general public vote, not dependent or necessarily reliant entirely upon the general public vote. It is, in and of itself, a separate, if generally controlled by the public vote, election for who gets to be the next President of the United States of America. In otherwords, as it is it's own election and the REAL election...if they vote and Biden wins that vote, I do not see a court case that is currently being pursued as actually being able to overturn that election after the fact. The electors can opt to be faithless, even in light of faithless elector laws, as it is given that they are supposed to be able to think for themselves in the matter and take matters into their own hands should a situation where the public has been misled. In that light, I would assume that unless the actual electoral election is stopped or delayed, which could create a constitutional crisis (or at least a mini crisis), I don't see how the current case could actually invalidate the electoral votes after the fact.

  23. Well, at this point I think they have less than 6 days.
  24. The Church itself doesn't have to be true in the way that most understand it to be true (true does not necessarily mean that it carries the truth or the true gospel, it is more that it is the Lord's Church and that as such, it will not be broken by the adversary). What matters I feel is if the gospel is true. The Church is merely a vessel for men, a vessel designed by the Lord to carry the power of the priesthood and it's sacred ordinances to people as well as help educate us on the truths he has taught as contained in the gospel. So, in a way, I could say (at least how some understand it) that as long as we have the priesthood and the ordinances, the Church itself does not have to be True...at least in the way that many understand it is when they say the phrase...I know this Church is true (which is more them claiming the gospel is true...as technically, that idea or term cannot apply to an organization such as a Church...it would be like claiming a Car is true, or your street in front of your house is true, or the Classroom is true...). It IS true, but I think it is true in the more traditional sense of an organization that is true. I have learned for myself that the gospel is true, that Joseph Smith DID see a vision of the Lord and had power to correctly translate the Gold Plates into the Book of Mormon. I know that he is the prophet of the Lord and that after him have come many prophets that have led the church in our modern days. I do not need a "true" church to know these things, I do not go to the Church necessarily because it exists, but because it is there that the priesthood of the Lord is found and the ordinances essential to our salvation are given through it. In this manner we can find exaltation as a free gift given to any who would accept it.
