  1. There are terms that have been used to signal to others about secret societies and organizations. What @Phoenix_person said regarding 1488 and some of the other signalling is actually true. People waving Nazi flags, though it may be a mystery to you, are generally pretty racist. It also is not a mystery that currently (it has changed from side to side and left to right, they haven't always been in support of the Republican candidate and at times, were very much in support of the Democrats a few decades ago) Neo-Nazi's, KKK members, Arian nations, and other racists groups are mostly supporting Donald Trump in his campaign for presidency. With Joe Biden being forced out an Kamala Harris taking on the candidacy for the Democrat Party, they probably are even more in support of Donald Trump these days. I don't know why someone would be ignorant of this. It is not a secret in general, and for the most part has even been pointed out via conservative groups that try to distance them from such people. And that is probably the important thing for the discussion. It is not that certain groups are gravitating towards Donald Trump, but that not everyone who supports Donald Trump as president is part of those groups or thinks in that manner. There are groups that actively discriminate against Asians and Native Americans that are supporting President Harris. That's probably a more hidden facet of the situation surrounding the current election than the racist groups supporting Donald Trump. Most Democrats and others do not agree with those groups that discriminate in that manner either. Trying to dissuade each side that there are not secret organizations which seek to do others harm hiding in their mists probably is a task in futility. Neither side wants to admit the horrible people that they garner to try to improve their chances at winning. This election is not going to be pretty or nice. On a connected but different note There are many things that Donald Trump has said that probably should alarm people and that have been brought up. I have made no secret that I think he is an Anti-Christ if not The Anti-Christ. He's a pretty wicked man and not someone I would trust. In the same breath, there are many things that alarm me about Kamala Harris. To me, it appeared that there was basically a coup in the Democrat party which forced Harris out. It was a media tsunami of those trying to push him out, and that same storm of media has been trying to force us to believe Kamala Harris is the chosen one. They ignore scandals which she has been part of or participated in along with questionable items regarding her husband. Some people will vote for Harris, not because they like her, but because they probably feel that to choose Trump will actually cause them harm (and it may, depending on who they are. If they are legal immigrants, or even legal citizens who were born in the United States, but have parents that are illegal...I'd probably be very alarmed at some of Donald Trumps statements and be voting for Harris simply so my family can survive, even if I hated her). The media seems to take it in stride that people will vote for Harris simply because they fear what Trump may do to them if he wins. However, many people don't like being pushed. Many people don't like the media trying to tell them how to think. Many people are upset at how the media just supposes they are sheep to be herded whatever way the media likes. On top of that there are those that have valid concerns about the economy and how they are going to survive if things persist in the same manner as they have over the past four years. It doesn't matter how good the government says the economy is doing if you are struggling to keep a roof over your head and facing hunger because you don't have enough money to buy food. These people have valid concerns and many do not feel Harris is giving adequate answers on how to solve the issue (the worst way, though it may work, would be a recession or depression with massive deflation occurring...which would be a very hard and harsh way for things to get cheaper). It doesn't matter if the Media says everything is sunshine and roses if your personal experience is showing that this is absolutely not true. The Media can only mask things so far before people don't believe them and instead trust their own experiences in this economy. So, this election is far closer than anyone probably felt it would be or should be...at least in the polls currently. I think the media has taken their power for granted, pushed too hard against what people want, and ignored the true problems that are happening in the US currently. That spells problems for the Democrats. They are running out of time to correct their course because right now, I don't see them having a large enough margin to guarantee a win, and that should scare the wits out of the Democrat Party. That doesn't mean a guaranteed win for the Republican party by far. They probably should be seeing if they can skirt by the skin of their teeth if possible, because it could very easily be that the Democrats pull it off and may even get an electoral landslide if the Republicans aren't careful. I still think Trump is going to win, either fairly or by cheating...but we will see. Just like the Beast, people thought he was dead (politically) and gone. But, if he wins he will be like a resurrected creature that has risen from the dead, and with how people seem to worship him...well...it sure seems like it could be a fulfillment of prophecy. There is a reason we are warned in the scriptures how even the elect will be deceived. If not him, I expect something or someone like him will be an echo of this, as the one who is slain and rises afterwards will need to be someone religious people (who you would expect would know better) will be enthusiastic about and try to claim is the righteous choice no matter how wicked the individual really is. PS: And yes, I know that the historically astute may also point out to Teddy Roosevelt...but he never was worshiped by the Religious in way that he could do no wrong...and never had a golden idol built of himself for them to wander their gaze at.
  2. You had probably said it in the past and I probably have been told this already, but when reading this I did not realize you were a veteran until just now. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I hope the VA is able to help you as much as you deserve. I've heard terrible things about how good they are over the past decades, but I hope that they can at least help in some way to aid you in dealing with the difficulties that it sounds that you deal with from your service.
  3. I think it's more the traditional/Military style of T-shirt that's been used since around the 80s and 90s. That shirt is more of a V-neck though, rather than a lowered crew neck style. It's so that even if you have the first button unbuttoned, you still will not see the T-shirt underneath. I've tried the new stretchy underwear that has been available as of more recent years. I miss the more relaxed fits of old (of course, if I start reminiscing about the one piece underwear, people will probably really consider my thoughts unpopular though).
  4. This seems to be a massive recall. I looked on the list and did not see anything we had in the freezer, but this is broad enough people here may have them. Brucepac Meat recall everything from Trader Joes to Krogers/Smiths to Walmart official announcement, they are still collecting information on even more that may be out there It looks to be a high priority
  5. Okay...think what you will. It's no skin off my back. I was just clarifying what Elon Musk actually does. He does not even have an engineering degree, much less a degree in mechanical or electrical. He has a BA in physics (not even a BS) and a BS in economics. The things I stated are what I've gotten via various contacts (or friends in the university). I don't personally know the guy. Gwynne Shotwell is the one who makes SpaceX successful. The way they handle Musk and do things behind the scenes is why SpaceX is probably more successful than things where Musk shows how he really does things when he is in control (Twitter/X). I'm not a Musk hater. I don't get the love people have of him. It seems some put him on a pedestal and think he is their best friend. He doesn't even know most of them exist. (He doesn't even know I exist most likely, unless he's read books where I'm involved or other areas which I would have been involved in...so I'd put that as extremely low chances) He's a big geek in all honesty, from what I've seen. He really gets into things. I gets really excited about things. However, he and the companies he invests in do best when he lets them do their thing and stays out of it. His Forte is stocks and market manipulation. In that area he may be an absolute genius. It also got him pegged at least once (forced twitter buy), though in most instances he does it he gets away with it. I would say he's absolutely the master at it. It's NOT in mechanical or electrical engineering though. You don't have to believe me. It doesn't bother me whether you do or don't. If I were you, you may even be happier if you don't believe me. The people at SpaceX work best because it's NOT public knowledge for the most part. So...no...not a ton of evidence to find out there because that's how they want it. The only article I found that leaked anything close to this this would be here Theinformation.com And it's behind a paywall...so not something to easily quote or put without breaking their terms. The only other evidence to see with your own eyes is how Twitter/X is doing with his direct control...vs....other companies which he exerts control over to greater or lesser degrees. Twitter/X is the one he probably has the most direct control over day to day and takes the most interest in currently. I'm not an economic genius, and my thoughts that Twitter would fail rather quickly were absolutely wrong (I thought it would be dead pretty quick as I think I stated when he got it and started firing a lot of people early on), but I wouldn't say he's exactly been stellar for making it a grandiose success either. (PS: I'd also say he's a master at grifting from the US government...aka...what many research professors would love to be able to do. Basically, he is a master at getting money from the US taxpayers to fund many of his investment companies projects. Some are greatly beneficial [for example...SpaceX which we've had a difference of opinion of how involved he is in it's success] and others are not so successful. I know a lot of professors that would love to be that successful in getting grants and such from the government). PPS: (I should add, he didn't create Tesla. He bought Tesla and forced some of those who actually founded it out of the company. He wants to be included as a founder and has tried to twist and change the history of the company to say that he was, but he was not there at the beginning. The engine was not created by him and the process was not either. The items set in motion for the first vehicle basically were already going along without him, though they didn't have the money to accomplish it which is where he finally came into the picture. His actions of late have actually probably hurt the company in many ways and his ideas aren't not making great vehicles these days [the Cyber truck is more of his direct ideas and control than some of the prior vehicles from what I surmise. If you think that is a quality vehicle...good for you. I personally would not spend money on it and would be hesitant to get one for free]. You may also counter me in that from what I hear, Tesla has been losing ground in the Electronic car market as of late as others vehicle makers take ground away from it).
  6. My understanding is that SpaceX is the one area which he doesn't actually impact that much. They run interference and have a bunch of people agree to whatever he says, but they aren't connected to the actual engineers so nothing he says has any impact on the work they do...as opposed to Tesla where they get things like the Cyber Truck and other things...or Twitter/X which is where Musk's true handling of a company can be seen when there is no one to separate his desires and wishes from the running of the company. The success of SpaceX, from what I understand has very little to do with Musk's input. Which makes sense when you realize Elon Musks true abilities lie more with stock manipulation and stocks rather than his actual engineering abilities. You normally don't get fabulously wealthy off of engineering, but you do off of financial abilities and market ingenuity.
  7. I'm not a stock broker nor have any good information on it. With the 401K and such there are options on what you want it to be focused on. I understand that Tech stocks are the most volatile, but also have the possibility to give the best returns. I also hear that government stocks...or whatever you want to call them...are the ones that are the least volatile and supposedly most stable...but also give the least returns. In times of volatility and craziness in the market you want to be invested in government funds, but when all looks sunny and roses...you want the tech stocks and other such things.
  8. My thoughts... As has been said, that they had been given knowledge through the Holy Ghost and through it they knew the truth that Jesus was the Christ, that he was the Savior and atoned for them. He is speaking of Anti Christs and how they have not continued or been with the Children of the Lord, but showed their true colors that they were against the teachings of the Lord. He goes on after that to say that they know the truth, and that lies are not the truth. He then takes it full circle pointing out that the Anti Christs are denying that Jesus is the Christ (and also the implication that they know he is, and thus are lying on purpose. It could be anyone though, even those who were never part of the members or claimed it. That anyone who is fighting against the gospel of the Lord and his atonement and making claims counter to the fact that the Lord is our Savior and Redeemer is Anti Christ. That with the annointing (which I feel is the Holy Spirit telling us the truth) his followers know the truth and can thus not be seduced by their enemies away from the Gospel and Salvation.
  9. I have been blessed by the Lord at multiple times in my life. I think that praying for what you need and being specific about it is a good thing to do. You also need to be willing to accept his will in the matter though, and it doesn't hurt to include that in the prayer as well. A prime example of something to ask for the aid of the Lord is found in the Book of Mormon. When we need to know whether the Book of Mormon is true, whether Joseph Smith was a prophet, and whether the gospel is true...we are told in the Book of Moroni to pray about it. We are told to study and ponder and then ask. Brigham Young (if I remember the story correctly) struggled for an answer for 2 years before he finally received it. We need to have faith and ask in faith. This also applies when blessing the sick. We need to ask for the aid of angels and the Lord's blessings. It doesn't have to be such giant or heavy things either. Everytime we pray and ask for something, whether it is to bless the food for our good, or to protect us on our travels, we are asking for the Lord's help and protection.
  10. Probably the one that provides the references to actual laws and interpretations thereof. I'd say that's probably FAR more reliable than someone just saying to trust them because of...no evidence whatsoever backing up their statement. But...discount the law as you wish...it doesn't change the law...just whether you are following the law or not. As @NeuroTypical says, audit's can be a gamble. There are not enough individuals in the IRS to truly cover it all. That still doesn't change whether one is following or not following the law.
  11. Hmm, hard to parse it doesn't want me to parse it into individuals sentences...but there are some interesting observations that go counter to your statements... #1 - Though they do it under the auspices of protecting children and limiting pornography, the Republicans and the state governments they control actually have been the ones who have been doing actual book banning and censorship recently. They've done actual book banning and actual censorship of what is considered free speech (under the guise of requiring validation to view pornography sites they have basically censored those sites from the public). Is this good or bad? That's not the question that is being asked or stated here. YOU said that the Democrats were shutting down free speech...when in fact...it's the Republicans that have been literally by every definition of the book, shutting down and doing away with free speech in a very real sense that the rest of the world has observed, and notices is currently occurring in the US. It's been compared to a few other regimes you may recognize, that have ALSO done similar actions such as the U.S.S.R., Iran, Communist China...and of all the lovely places...North Korea. Great places for the Republicans to be compared to by the world as they ban books and censor free speech in the various ways they have passed legislation in their governments. I'm not passing judgement on whether this is right or wrong, or good or evil, but observing that the Republicans actually have been FAR more involved with this Banning in a very literal way recently. #2 - Which religious observations are you noting? You mean Trump's vocal accusations against Muslims in the US? Or perhaps you are referring to some of his advisors which are deeply antisemitic? Or perhaps you are referring to the current Palestinian sympathizers which are campaigning against the Democrats due to the Democrats support of Israel? Perhaps you are referring to the Neo-Nazi's that attend Trumps rallies which are deeply antisemitic in their views? Or perhaps it is the membership of the supporting KKK that attend Trumps rallies which tend to be both Anti-Catholic and Antisemitic (and to top it off...ironically...in some cases...Anti-Mormon)? It's an interesting thing when one points these things out...only to see that their side of the equation is equally as guilty...just in a different manner and a different way. #4 - Search warrants? I would actually agree with you in part there...in regards to what I saw as a political ploy in New York. However, anyone who's ever had a clearance with a government should be rightly offended by what Trump did with the classified documents. Anyone who's ever had to deal with that stuff knows they'd be in prison yesterday if they had done the same thing. It's atrocious that Trump has gotten a pass where almost every serviceman who ever did anything like that ended up imprisoned or pursued by the FBI, and the unequal punishments that Trump has had in comparison to those who also had to deal with these things...is obnoxious. People point to Biden (who had a few documents) but IGNORE the massive amounts that Trump had. Signs also point towards Trump actually possibly SELLING national secrets to the Saudi's AND the Russians.... That by itself should be something that alarms ANY ONE who loves freedom. #5 - Excessive punishments against those who attacked and ransacked our Capital on January 6th. I take it you haven't done much jail time. I haven't seen excessive punishments or fines towards them. In fact, I'd say they've been lite on most of them. I suppose this is more a matter of opinion that we will differ upon rather than something we will agree upon. However, I'd say that overall, the application of law has been done in relation to them and they have had their day in court for the most part, when the trials have come about. If you have a problem with these cases and the punishments, maybe you sympathize more with those who dislike the police than those who believe in the current US justice system. There are various other problems with your statements, but those are probably the most glaring ones. I could just spout out a list (and a much longer one at that) like you did without any commentary on how such a thing was accomplished or done...but I've already written a lot and that's with VERY short summations of a few of the topics you mention. I think you make a mistake (easy to make when a right leaning independent is considered a flaming liberal on this forum) that I'm a democrat or liberal. I am not. You are not mistaken that I was far more favorable to Biden. I don't think you know anything about what my thoughts regarding Kamala Harris are...you assume FAR too much. Edit: And for now, I think I will keep my stance on her quiet overall. I WILL say that how I view Trump as being immoral is not just based on his immorality in regards to his marriages and infidelity, but far more than that, inclusive of his ability to be honest, have integrity, or even be trustworthy...none of which he qualifies in having from what I've seen. I've already made a prediction that he will either win or seize the presidency this next term...as well as other things in regards to that. We can hope I am wrong, but I think there's a strong probability that I am right as well. It will become even more alarming if David Bednar becomes the Prophet in the next few years if Trump becomes president as the cornerstones of David (as in, the David of Prophecy who will be in the last days) and an Anti-Christ would be laid at that point, leaving Jerusalem to be having a siege, the temple to be built, and two prophets to be killed as the next things on the list.
  12. These are items to count at your own risk. These are popular items that some people try to claim as business expenses. Even with receipts it can be questionable, depending on how deep the investigator wishes to go. It will then depend on investigator roulette. Some will let it pass, others will absolutely nail you to the wall for doing these things. Why? Because, yes, technically it is cheating. Talking 2.3 seconds about a rental during a 15 minute lunch (much less an hour long dinner) is extremely questionable. That's more of a passing comment than a business dinner or lunch. If you are doing it with a customer for a business proceeding, then you can deduct it. If it's a customer and for business (as in, you are having it FOR business rather than just going off for lunch with business associates) you can have deductions. Depending on what else you use the computer for, and how much time you use it in comparison to what else you use it for, can also be something that they'll nail you to the wall for. You can only deduct the amount of time you use that computer for how much of the time you use it for business. If you use it 10% of the time for your business, and 90% of the time for watching movies, playing games, doing homework, etc...then you can only deduct 10% of that from your taxes. As you should not just accept my word for it (and I am NOT a CPA either)...here are some relevant articles relating to what I just said. Consolidated appropriations act of 2021 An easier to understand explanation of meal deductions Intuit's easier to understand explanation of computer deductions Intuit's easier to explain work related devices deductions Hopefully your CPA has an insurance shield (or whatever they call it...liability...etc) in case such things get investigated. This gives the customer the assurance that the CPA knows what they are talking about and won't throw you under the bus if they are incorrect. Normally it's somewhere in the range of 5K to 10K, depending on what type of taxes you are talking about. I think some of those items are going to depend heavily on the roll of the dice on what type of auditor you get and the investigator assigned to the case. How stringent they are and how deep they go into your business dealings beyond just the receipts.
  13. Biden wasn't involved in certain things that Bill Clinton was, or suspected of certain things as the Clintons were that caused the investigation that led to the impeachment in the first place (though it was through no lack of trying from Republicans this time around). Biden probably was more honest in certain things when questioned about them then Bill Clinton was at the time (or so it appears currently with the investigative panels that the Republicans have led into their impeachment attempts). That said, it was a start of things turning like they are today, but it was only the start. Today the antagonism has increased to a ridiculous point between the parties. @Phoenix_person is correct in my opinion, that things that Trump have done (Clinton's indiscretion, despite something I also feel was highly immoral, is small change compared to what Trump has done) would have absolutely ruined a presidential candidate in the past. One reason why the idea that Trump is still considered is so mind boggling to some who have seen how Republicans have acted towards those so immoral in the past. Continuing on the impeachment issue though... It also always bugs me when people say someone was impeached. Thus far, we've never actually HAD a president successfully impeached...per se. They've passed the articles of impeachment on some presidents, but when it's been tried in the Senate, NONE of them have ever actually ever been successfully and fully impeached. Thus, technically, though the articles of impeachment have passed, the actual impeachment of the office of the President has never truly been fully accomplished. Trump had articles of impeachment passed on him and it was sent to the Senate, who basically waived it. Thus, he was never TRULY impeached (despite that the Democrats try to claim he was twice impeached, if he had actually been truly and fully impeached just once, he probably would have been removed from office...). It's like saying someone is a murderer who was charged with murder, put in jail, and then found not guilty in a court of law. Just because someone is charged, does not make them guilty of the offense, at least legally.
  14. On a tax note, those who receive Social Security in the US, the question that has some asking is whether to pay tithing or not. Some say since they paid tithing on the gross of their income, they owe no tithing. However, Social Security is a ponzi scheme. We aren't getting the money back that we paid into it, we are getting our kids money that they are paying into it. One reason Social Security is having trouble is because, like all Ponzi schemes, it is reliant upon an ever expanding population to pay it, but the population has been remaining steady or decreasing instead. Some say that you should have kept track of how much you paid into Social Security and after you reach that amount that you paid into it, then you start paying tithing. Thus far I've paid on it, but it always sounds VERY tempting to say I've already paid on the gross when I was younger, I shouldn't have to pay on it now. This probably gets far more confusing on those who receive benefits from the government. Technically, I think they AREN'T supposed to pay tithing on those benefits, and in some instances those benefits can be reduced if they ARE paying tithing or other (what the government would consider) unnecessary items with that money. So, the question comes...should they...or shouldn't they. Always a tricky question and one that even when I was asked I would reflect back at the asker and tell them to do as they feel they should after prayer and pondering the issue themselves. That way no one can say that a Church leader told them that they had to pay, or that it was required of them to pay on benefits that technically, I think the government says should not be utilized for unnecessary things or otherwise. Tough question though. Technically, I'm not sure if the Church could eventually be sued by the government for taking tithing on those funds. I suppose it would hinge on some of the court cases currently occurring, and perhaps others that may occur in the future on whether the Church could actually be taken to court or not over people tithing on things like that (currently the onus would be pointed at those who tithe, but if the government could say that the Church was negligent or not clear enough on the policy of tithing in these situations, and thus the people felt PRESSURED or FORCED to tithe...then it becomes a different ballgame).
  15. Looks like the Ray's Stadium had it's roof blown off and a crane fell on the News Building in Tampa. Also looks to have another crane fall in St. Petersburg and various roofs torn off, waist level flooding in the predicted flood zones, and toppled trees with some minor damage to downtown buildings. Looks like a hit on Disney World but I have no idea how much damage was done. Hopefully not much as I think I may be taking the grandkids there next Spring. Overall, from the news this morning it LOOKS like it didn't do half as much damage as many were expecting it too...which is good. Hopefully that's what actually has happened and not just what it looks like from these early news after reports.
  16. I'd say that a large part of it was a Republican Congress, and unlike many who are in Congress today and the antagonism between them and the Presidents, they actually decided to cooperate. Rather than having Ted Cruz's, and Mike Lee's who stonewall and insist on trying to close down Governments, you had them actually compromising and working to figure out what each side was after and what they would go for. The Republicans, due to this ideology (which seems to be lost on a large minority of theirs today, which causes them to be a do nothing House of Representatives instead of a governing body that actually...well...governs) probably did more to accomplish this feat than Clinton did. Clinton just had to sit back and not throw a fit (IMO). Luckily the Democrats were not so stonewalling back then either, and with both sides able to have at least some ability to compromise between them and work together, they accomplished being able to do better things with the budget (I wouldn't say great things, but better than other times).
  17. I'm nervous seeing that traffic as people evacuate, and I imagine it's going to get worse as the Hurricane gets closer. I have a nephew in that area and his mother (her husband, my brother, passed away). I talked to him yesterday evening and he was packing still. I hope he and my SiL make it out safely. They live in St. Pete. Ironically I had a son who lived there up until last year, but is in a safer area now. I just hope that all who are there are safe. PS: I'd say...go up to Georgia...but after what happened to NC with the last one...who knows where is safe these days. On the bright side (for those of you in Utah)...see those things lining the highway there...those are called trees. They grow everywhere and you don't even have to go to the mountains to see them as thick as they are here on the side of the highways! Also note all that green stuff on the ground...that's called grass...and it sort of grows spontaneously in the East...no need to water it...it just grows like everything else.
  18. I'm not positive why I like some of the songs, probably why I'm never focused on music! I like most of the hymns (with the one excluded I already mentioned). If we go for those that are my favorites, I'd say it is probably due more to familiarity (sang them a lot in Sacrament meetings?) than anything else. I tend to like the slower ones that are reflective I suppose, and the ones that sound more triumphant (like the Spirit of God) or with faster tempos and a stronger beat (Master the Tempest is Raging, Have I done any Good in the World Today...etc). I also like Christmas songs. PS: In relation to "I Believe in Christ" as a hymn, it's not put together as melodically or harmonically well and instead of the words matching a harmonic and more melodic song, the song and it's beats are more written around a word. It's more like speaking in song (like some operas) rather than singing a song. At least, that's one key difference I think with the hymn vs. other hymns (as I said, not a music master or even an apprentice speaking here). I still like it as it is basically a testimony set to music, but it is somewhat different than other hymns in the hymnbook and I can understand why that may jar someone.
  19. I actually haven't had a hymn I disliked until recently. The only hymn I dislike is Amazing Grace. Perhaps it's my life I had prior to converting to the church, or just a general distaste, but the song has always ground at me somewhat wrongly. It's been used massively by Baptists to point to the fact that you are saved by Grace (not a bad thing) without having to do anything on your own. The idea that you are unable to do anything to save yourself and it is by grace, not works, that you are saved...is not the bad idea, it's that it leads to this thing that because it's grace, not works, there is nothing needed or necessary EXCEPT to simply accept and believe. That the idea given in the Book of Mormon where the people say Eat, Drink, And be Merry and if we die tomorrow we'll be hit with a few slaps and then go on to heaven is alive and well...and I am reminded of that theology every time I hear that song. It completely reminds me of the Baptists and others similar to that ideology throughout my life. It's a great song, and it's a good idea, but it just seems wrong to be in our Hymnbook now.
  20. Those restaurant perks aren't as great as you may think. Neither are some of the other perks. 1. We go to take the Grandkids out to dinner or lunch. Invariably, one of the younger ones will only be happy if we go to Mcdonalds. McDonald's senior perks are not exactly stellar... 2. There are some places we go where we could get the Senior Dinner, but invariably they always seem to give you smaller portions than if you order the normal dinner. I've become wary of Senior prices at restaurants due to this. 3. Some parks and such offer senior discounts. They know we aren't going to be going on the wild rides at our age. It's more to just walk around and see if they have any shows. Some are decent, some are really bad (as in, they only have one stage and one show). I would ride the little kiddy rides (no kidding!!!), but I fear getting terrible looks from others. I did go on one or two with a grandson this summer...it was an airsail ride. He really liked going back and forth with it. I felt sick afterwards and realized my body just can't take that sort of abuse anymore. I let him go on it several times again, while I sat off to the side and tried to recover.
  21. Looks like it is to conserve energy as the plutonium core slowly fades. Still, the article mentions it will continue to give us information until the 2030s, which is astounding. Just think of the technology utilized and then think of what we could do now if we launched a similar probe out there into the great wide space!
  22. That's a good insight. I do not know what or how the classes my grandkids get in church are taught. I have two grand daughters that refuse to go to church now. I offered to let one of them go to Young Woman's camp in our stake last year and she almost went, but backed out at the last minute. She was unwilling to go to her own Stake's young woman's camp and had some experiences with Young woman in the ward that I feel probably was influencing her decisions on participation. It breaks my heart to see her in such a state. Her sister has also stopped going to church in the past few months, though I'm not sure if it's just the others in the ward, or also has to do with her sister's influence as well. I know their family has family prayer when I'm over there as well as daily scripture reading and I try to discuss the gospel as I can. Sometimes I just feel so helpless with the younger grandkids in this situation. It's not one I really faced with my own kids growing up, and as I see my kids struggle with my grandkids with testimony and love of the church, it's hard. Luckily it's not all the younger group of my grandkids. Some seem to be doing quite well. The ones that are struggling though, I just feel so powerless to help them develop a love for the gospel. From what I've read from your posts it sounds like your children have a good footing in the church and a good foundation in the gospel. I hope they continue to do so and remain strong with the church. In that, you must be doing something right.
  23. I am an old man. You are correct, I use caps as an emphasis. I probably could use some education on how to emphasis words otherwise. Should I bold them instead?
  24. I admit I didn't see the debate between the two Vice Presidential candidates last night. News has not been that forthcoming on what happened with it, and not many specifics have come out. They mostly seem to indicate it was evenly matched and both were more respectful of each other than what was seen in the Presidential debate. What did you see in regards to Walz and what blew him out of the water? Were there talking points or was it a reaction or several reactions? I am very much not in the know here.
  25. It looks like I'll talk about the links in reverse order. So, the one with Eva Longoria showed him there with here, but I did not see any pictures of him with his head buried in her hair. IT LOOKS photoshopped because it looks like someone basically did a cut and paste job. That's why it looks so odd. It's like one picture overlapping the other. I didn't find this photo among the ones in the links you posted and none show him even close to doing that from what I saw. It's possible though, especially in light of the other links you posted. The second link with Joe Biden that appears to have him sniffing a woman's hair was with the Milwaukee journal. It wanted to disable my ad blocker so I had to switch to another browser to see it. The video isn't actually a video of that situation and appeared to be a hit piece done by a Republican Political Scientist? Without context or even more about it, it's hard to really say where or what it's from. I didn't think that was one of the pictures that was obviously photo shopped though, so not sure if that matters The first link was also a hit piece on him. It did show the videos but with no context of what was going on. It does bring an interesting thought to mind though. Now that I've SEEN the videos...I wonder about what some members think of others in their wards. I've seen this interaction with some of the older members of the wards with youth (note, I've have never done this as doing such things makes me uncomfortable. I had one young man that constantly tried to get hugs from me when I was Bishop and I finally had to talk to his parents to try to help me avoid that type of situation). I don't quite understand it myself, but I have seen it in the wards and stakes I've been in with some older people and their interactions with others. Maybe it's a generational thing? Anyways, be well and thanks for the illumination of the sources of the pictures! Perhaps what I feel is obviously photo shopped isn't so...it's always good to be corrected with sources! (like you provided!).
