  1. Friendly fire incidents aren't that common nor are they typically lethal in self-defense instances.
  2. Same over this past year. We can't even get most parents to consistently bring their kids.
  3. Currently we meet twice a month. We're going to see how that goes. We are running into a little difficulty with the class size and age ranges based on last year's experience, particularly with several kids that need special attention. We've thought about breaking the class up and continue meeting twice a month for each group, though that would mean twice the work for us.
  4. I have 14 kids this year of mixed gender and age. We'll see how this shakes out. It feels weird just being handed a program and told "build it, good luck". Mrs Grunt is much better at this, thankfully.
  5. The Primary President doesn't have anything and is leaving it up to us. I'll see if I can find that pamphlet and do it at our first meeting.
  6. Thanks. Yeah, I saw that stuff but was hoping for more direction. Apparently our ward never really had Activity Days (even though we took over the calling) so we just made our own schedule and followed Faith in God. I guess I'll make up our own plan, pending further instruction.
  7. Has anyone seen any curriculum for the Primary Activities program? Any guidelines at all? I must be looking in the wrong place because I can't find a thing.
  8. No, we certainly don't agree.
  9. Well, we only really see two good guys draw. The first announced his intent without drawing, the second drew and took the shot. There were 6 good guys with guns that we know of from the video, but we only see two of them as they react. It's hard to tell where the other four were or what their reaction would have been.
  10. This latest White Settlement church shooting has my really thinking about the new policy.
  11. We must be in the same circle. It drives me bonkers as well. Our directive seems to be very clear in principle, with required interpretation of practice. "10% of increase" is very specific, with the supposed understanding that our prayerful deliberation will reach the understanding of what the total "increase" is. Gross and net blessings makes it seem like there is a correlation between the size of the tithe and the size of the blessing. Nowhere does it seem to imply that 11% will bring you greater blessings. MY interpretation, and mine only, is that the 10% tithe is just as it states. If I feel I should donate more, there are other blocks on my tithing slip I could put that money into.
  12. Ahhh. I misunderstood your original post. I absolutely agree that the experiences we have and the decisions we make as a natural man will define who we are and into which kingdom we'll fall. I don't see how that translates into doctrinal evidence that we're supposed to trust our elected officials, which is what initiated this discussion,.
  13. Could you provide doctrinal evidence of this?
  14. I'm not quite sure what your point is. Are you trying to compare those in the Celestial Kingdom with the natural man? Are you trying to compare a Celestial society with an earthly society? To what end?
  15. We did. We were discussing the government. I gave specific examples that established your ideology was incorrect. You ignored them and went on about your landlord experience. I assumed it was because you realized your position was wrong.
  16. Don't you have any infantry blue ink?
  17. I rest my case.
  18. It's trying to put something we don't understand within our limited knowledge. It's trying to put a square peg in a round hole because all you have are square pegs and round holes.
  19. Like all these people? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_federal_politicians_convicted_of_crimes
  20. So you trust all people?
  21. I absolutely disagree. @anatess2 is correct. You can have belief in a system, but not "the government". The government isn't a family. The Constitution sets up a system of government, but it doesn't "bind" any individual. We see that daily in the corruption we root out. A rental agreement doesn't provide trust. A rental agreement, like the Constitution, exists because there ISN'T trust.
  22. Ha! Today IS my 2 year anniversary, though!
  23. Thanks. You folks always know where the answers are. This pretty much confirms what I said earlier. I'm commanded to tithe, and will be held accountable for my tithing. The "Church" is commanded to use tithes as He directs. Those so directed will be held accountable for how they follow those directions.
  24. Is the Church accountable to its members? Are we commanded to tithe if we can't track our tithing? At what point are we released from tithing?
  25. As I explained on FB, I wasn't doubting your experiences, I was relating my own.
