Humanity may be better off but with the massive overpopulation and overuse of the natural resources, the planet isn't, I think its naive to think we don't have a negative effect on the earth. And I don't think we are responsible for climate change at all. I NEVER said that, I said pollution, which is a completely different thing, the rubbish we create is astounding and certainly not having a positive effect on the environment.

I dont think its going anywhere either. You presume the Theory of evolution is a fact, I don't and everything I said I made clear from the start was just my opinion. And I wish you all the best too.
-
I'm not a hippy or anything like that, but as a species we do damage the planet, we cover it in concrete, we cut down the forests, we overuse natural resources, we cause a lot of pollution and we don't replenish as much as we damage. I think we should be doing a better job of looking after the planet

I don't presume anything and I suggest you don't either
-
Like I said in the beginning its just my opinion and I am entitled to have it, just as you are yours. We don't agree and that's fine.
-
My point is that without those things we would not survive, well not for very long anyway and not very well, so we are highly likely not the product of natural evolution. And we do damage our environment just by being here, the growing size of our population is a strain on the planet and the natural resources that are here, when we thrive, things die, and that's not absurd, that's a fact. I don't despise mankind at all, but I do think God wants us to take care of the planet not destroy it.

I totally agree with you, I heard a quote once that always stuck with me. "asking what Church is the true and right Church to belong to is like asking what kind of cheese the moon is made of. Jack, Cheddar or Swiss?" I think the important thing is to have faith, not what church you think it is right to have faith in.

My understanding of the point of the theory of evolution is that a species 'evolves' to better suit it's climate and environment. Therefore, in my opinion, I don't think evolution applies to humans at all. We are not suited to this environment, we need extra things to survive that animals and even primates do not need. We need clothes, shoes, we burn in the sun, we freeze in the cold, we don't 'fit in' on this planet, everything we do as a species takes us further away from being natural, all we evolve is our technology, which hurts and will eventually kill the planet. We are not natural inhabitants of this earth, we don't belong here. If we were 'evolving' surely we would at least become more suited to the environment. Probably not the point of view of most of you but a valid point of view none the less. This line of thought does not diminish my faith in God, it actually strengthens it, we couldn't be like we are naturally so someone must have done something for us to be here.

Temple recommend
Blossom76 replied to Blossom76's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Thank you all so much, I feel much better about it now, I was worried about being excluded from the temple -
Hi guys, I'm strongly of the belief that I will be joining this church (I have to give my husband the 18 months study I promised him so he will support my conversion and baptism) Of course I am hoping my husband joins with me, but in the case that he doesn't choose this faith I have a worry about my obtaining a recommend to go to the temple. I don't work, I am a stay at home wife and mother. I make no income whatsoever. I'm worried this will stop me getting a temple recommend, I know one of the requirements of the church is tithing. I can't tithe what I don't have, and I can't expect my husband to give 10% of his income to a church he is not a member of. Has this every happened to anyone you know? Any support is appreciated.

Sealing Cancellation Letter
Blossom76 replied to Dave916's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I agree with this line of thought, my background is Catholic, and while I don't agree with everything Catholicism teaches, I do agree with their stance on marriage. I mean is forever really forever, or is it 'just for right now until I change my mind or life gets too hard' That being said I did have my first marriage annulled, but that wasn't easy, I had to prove that the marriage should not have taken place at all and therefore is not binding in the eyes of God. I don't see why getting unsealed should be any different, it should be hard, these are scared vows, which are supposed to last for eternity. -
Just an Aussie's opinion here! I think its great that Trump won, he's a business man, he's good with money, most countries in the world are broke, having a successful business man who doesn't give a "blank" about what people think is very refreshing. He has the guts to act before he worries about what the public will think of his decisions. And fair enough really, I mean he is the President, it is his job. He's a dude, I like him!

So people in my circle of friends are working out that I am learning all things LDS and wanting to convert. The first thing they ask me about is, drum roll please - polygamy (so unoriginal people!) Anyway I'm trying to find a 'go to' answer to tell them. The best I have come up with so far is, it was a revelation from God to the prophet of the LDS church and it was practiced until there was another revelation from God saying to stop the practice. Which of course leads them to ask 'well the FLDS still do it, are they more holy?' ARHHHH - seriously! I try to explain it to them using Martin Luther as an example. The Pope of the Catholic church and Martin Luther didn't agree on doctrine so they split into two different churches that still hold some similar beliefs. The Prophet of the LDS Church Wilford Woodruff had a revelation from God to stop polygamy in 1890, some members didn't agree and went and followed 'some other dude' and the church spilt, much in the same way as the protestant and catholic split. How am I doing? I don't know much about church history, and if anyone knows the actual name of 'some other dude' I'd really appreciate knowing what it is! Also any other tips on how to answer questions from well meaning friends that are informative but still somewhat 'light' in nature.

I am not baptised but I have just found out for sure in my heart that the Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith restored the true church to the earth. I can understand the difficulty you are having with some of the other members. I had some minor problems when I started attending LDS church, I realise now it was just a misunderstanding. I'm not trying to minimise your experience, but what you are experiencing is bad members not a bad church. Maybe this video will help a little bit, it's by a temple recommend holding LDS member and its very raw and very honest. Don't give up on the church because of other members.

Since I have been investigating the LDS church, members (and you lot!) keep telling me that something will happen and I will feel the spirit and things will change. As most of you know I like things to make sense, I like to study things and gain knowledge and understanding of truth that way. I know that is not how most LDS members come to find the truth of the Book of Mormon. Anyway, for all of you who know someone like me, PLEASE get them to read this very simple article currently featured on this website. https://mormonhub.com/blog/faith/defending-the-faith/book-of-mormon-hoax/ I actually cried while reading it. I don't know if I have a complete testimony for the church or all its teachings, but I know one thing. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and the Book of Mormon is true. Thank you all so much for helping (and putting up with) me. I feel very happy and full of hope. Now I just have to save my husband!

Scripture Question... What's Your Opinion?
Blossom76 replied to ngreninger's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I just read the above mentioned link, I mean I guess it must be true because it is on a church website. I know that time was a racist time in history but this seems a bit overboard, I sincerely don't think that God would want any of his people excluded from his church. I had no idea this was once church policy, It's not very nice to say the least. Am I correct in believing that this is something that Brigham Young implemented and that Joseph Smith had absolutely nothing to do with this line of thought? -
Thanks Zil, this is a great resource and I really appreciate you taking the time to do it.

How do I inquire about a deleted thread?

I am sorry this happened to you, when it happened to me a Site Moderator reposted my question with a request that everyone remain respectful, hopefully that happens in this case as well. -
How do I inquire about a deleted thread?
Blossom76 replied to Seek's topic in 'How do I' Questions Forum
Perhaps @Seek was just misunderstood? I was accused of being anti mormon in the last thread I started and I sincerely wasn't, maybe this is the same thing? A question people may find confronting doesn't automatically mean the person asking the question is attacking the church. How are we supposed to learn and grow if that is our attitude? -
This is a good site and it has nutritional info for every recipe plus some basic info on low carb. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb This one has heaps of recipes and nutritional info but I don't think the search function is that great! https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/recipes/ This ones not bad either, full nutrition breakdown for every recipe https://www.skinnytaste.com/recipes/low-carb/ Good luck, it's not as hard as it seams, you will be ok!
