  1. Unlike real gators I’m a fussy eater, bordering on neurotic. I eat a lot of seafood, fish, etc. I also like down home southern food. Gumbo, Frogmore stew, po’boys etc. For restaurants I tend to stick with either snobby black tie places or your local sports bar where I can get fried cod sandwich with 10$ with a coke.
  2. Amen to that my friend. I can’t tell you how many time I’d read the Scriptures during services. Very spiritual feeling.
  3. You aren’t on my FB @prisonchaplain, but I won the bet!
  4. I totally agree that it’s much more than a social club, but don’t ever discount how important the social aspect of church is. For some people that’s their primary outlet. Their only outlet, really.
  5. That’s actually an excellent idea. I’ve seen people play on their iPads/phones during church.
  6. @pam if you don’t behave yourself I’m telling everyone why you got kicked out of the restaurant on Saturday.
  7. Thanks. I notice it too, but it is how I really feel.
  8. While it’s not the same thing, many years ago I worked for a company that wanted to “do more for the poor” and had a guy from a local charity come in and arrogantly lecture us about making donations directly out of our paychecks to the charity. The company, and this guy, were too stupid to see that 99% of us were college kids and single moms working paycheck to paycheck. I was furious with how blind everyone involved was. Like being “woke” in 2023 their good intentions did nothing. So you aren’t alone.
  9. My sympathies are with the church though. I fear Tim Ballard tried to take advantage of the genuinely sweet nature of the LDS apostles and leadership, who I will defend 100%. I think they sometimes get conned by jerks and sleazeballs looking for political or social gains. Like I’ve always said, LDS (including the leaders) can be too nice and trusting 😞
  10. Lol. No, I have no opinion of the man at all. I’ve thought of him as often as he thinks of me. It’s pretty clear what I thought. I thought before that people only believe the news is “true” if it confirms what they already believe. If it goes against their moral/religious/political views then they automatically think it’s “fake news” or disbelieve it.
  11. Kid, don’t make me release the dingos.
  12. Well, you asked. I believe neither at this time-but I highly doubt Vice just made something up. Why hasn’t Ballard sued them for slander? To me it’s validating because it proves something I always thought. It’s fake news when it says something we disagree with, and it’s only real if it confirms my pre existing beliefs. So I do feel like I was absolutely right. Again.
  13. So who is wrong here? Did Tim Ballard do anything wrong or is the church wrong? Did the church release an official statement?
  14. What do you disbelieve? Did the church not release a statement or take down anything?

  16. It’s obvious that people in the LDS community want clean entertainment, and BYUTV could easily provide that. Or at least try. Having said that, it’s hard to provide entertainment (and especially comedy like the show you mentioned) that won’t offend someone.
  17. And I saved you from being eaten by a real alligator. Ms. @pam jumped in the lake and wanted to feed the alligator. I heroically jumped in and rescued her while the crowd cheered. Afterwards they lifted me on their shoulders and carried me around Myrtle Beach for hours.
  18. No argument there, but they are also fighting a losing battle. The overwhelming majority of us believe in equality and want to live in peace.
  19. That, and to be honest, not everyone from the Greatest Generation/Silent Generation thought that way on race. Was it the majority? Sure. But my Memere (who never lived outside of NH until she was over 85) had no issue with interracial dating back in the early 60’s!
