What is Faith?
Maya replied to Giuseppe's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
No theory.. I have jumped... for some reason He did not quite cach me and it has for sure happened awfull things. Yes I been angry at God I still would likie ta ask him why... I would not shout I would just cry and I am sure He will come with a good reason like someone else had to get to experience something that hurt me and that He knew I could handle it. Funny thing was once when I jumped I did it, cause I knew I had got an answer.... and still I got hurt more than I could ever have emagined that I could endure. But I was never alone... I am never alone! I was at the edge and the temptation to jump and make sure no one cauched me, so I could end it all, was enormous, but hey I am still here and I have made a decition to trust my HF and leave what ever has done against me to him to deal with. Gee that decition makes me feel so much better. But stil it is not easy to meet the people that have done wrong to me, but I try to be as if nothing happened. They never said they are sorry cause they believe I did wrong, which I did not do... which I have tried to tell them... complicated. -

Questions about Joseph Smith's
Maya replied to deblldo's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I have been a very good and active Lutheran for 30 years. But I had some questions I never could get an answer to. No one knew. MOre I studied the BM more I understood. Ofcourse there still are things I do nto understand and things that anties or such pinpoint to people all too early, before they get to the level whjere it is possible to understand wyh this or why that... If I get a problem I go back to the basics... Was JS a profet, do I believe it? Is the BM alike the bible the word of God?? And if I beløieve this I have to just admit... I do not know... so I have to study more if I want to understand a prinbciple that is a bit making me wonder. One small principle can not tear down a whole building if the basic is good. Then I put this principle on a shelf to wait for an answere and understanding .... some people tend to go looking for these things they can put on the shelf and the shef gets too heavy and breaks. It is more improtant to study from that level one is up, than to find out what one dont understand and gather them and find no answers... I think this is a big exciting trip the whole thing... think what exciting things there are waiting for us... -

Justa my 2 pence worth: Even today it is possible to have a child without sex... so.... ?? Depends when you mean.. we were all created as spirits first... Not sure about Jesuses wifes.. but they say you were not called Rabbi if you did not have rather a couple than one.... Depends on if we qualify... a handfull does.... me thinks I doubt that! Earn?? Hmm we to dont earn anything we are tested to see if we can qualify.... Either we do or we dont. Not sure how God become God... dont want to go there too far away... -
I think this is a good reason in having some more teaching of this in preasthood meetings!! Agree with Kathy. It is sad but women break more often now than before, because nowadays they can manage alone too!

I fel so little...not that I wouldbe tall anyway...but I FEEL SOO LITTLE! As I walk in the Oslo city or any city in Scandianvia... what do I see..... I kind of dont see them any more... if someone would ask me about the commercials on the streets... I probably would not even remember what they were about... they do not excist for me.... but as someone shows them to me I know I seen them and where I seen them... but there is NO WAY not to see the commercials around us: on busstops, big commercials on big walls, shop windows ... everywhere... naked people, suggesting body positions...bad taste if you ask me! I think I know when I kind of closed them out of my system... I just had to do it... it hit me SOOO bad! I came to Oslo to do some shopping and to go to my dentist. And there is was. Underwear commercials were nothing compared to this. As big as a 7 store building reaching from 7th floor down to third or secong a HUGE picture of a naked man... well he had a slips on him... holding a fish that obviosly was trying to swallow a part of him... It just made me sick. There were also potrets of naked wemen and men together in various questionable positions. THINK of going there with your small kids. I wrote the the HM whose comercial it was... I adviced many to write there and tell them we do not want to see that in comercials. Do not know ifthat helped. I wish there were more people who care and complain so they do not think we all agree on such comercials.

My 5 pence worth: I think they should already in young men start teaching the fathers to be; fatherhood, real fatherhood. It really is NOT just making the kids, it is to TAKE CARE of them emotionally too... and not forgetting the wife!! I so often hear the same thing, husbands not wanting to take care of their own kids! My husband has always been VERY supportative on my callings. He has always taken care of our kids, even though when NOT even a member! Often the men in Church are so much just trying to work for the family and do the Church assighments well but forgetting that the thing that really counts is the family. We wemen have to also remember that it is WE who rise up the coming fathers. Maybe we should teach them more about beeing a father and doing their tasks as a member of the family. How many of us make sandwiches to our sons and not tell them to do that themselves? (My husband is reminding me about that all the time ... but my baby ,15, is so sleepy in the morning before seminary...and then if I dont make his sandwich he maybe goes to school without any food as I will be gone to work as he gets home from seminary...) I try to get the guys working with small things at home like vacouming... But like in all it is easier to do it by myself than ask them to do it.... I think we women need help from preasthood leaders, to tell the fathers to help in families and give the woman at least one evening in a week free! Some of our leaders are good excemples and give their wifes one day free in a week and then they stay at home taking care of the kids... or maybe they take them some nice place.... btw... why not a special father and kids evening in Church ONCE a week...!! So fathers get support from one an other.... One thing I been wondering is HOW and WHY so many men are so controlling??? Love is not of controlling but supporting!

I think that it does not have much to do with it. IF we could choose the family we were born to, or the mother... we probably knew how we might look like if certain geens were combined ... so many possibilities. I also doubt, that we really cared... earthly beautifulness was not excactly something we were aquianted with before coming here and probably we could not even think that way. I also think that no matter where I had been born in what ever circumstaces... I would have chosen the LDS Church if I ever would have heard of it!

Sometimes we need lots of patience and forgiveness in this world. I hope you have it. A friend of mine told me a thought... maybe we are mormons because we are so much worse than other people and need to have more strict rules for our life to abtain a place in His kingdom!? -

I use One great Family.. it is nice as it adds families to you authomativally if someone has the same as you. Saves time but there are not that many in it in Norway or Finland yet so it hardly ever connect... but I have found someone who is in there and is family with my hubby!
-
Thanks all friends are always well come and I need them all. I am a bit sad that my half sisters dont keep in touch so much... they live in BC Canada. I heard mom and her hubby almost joined LDS.... but they felt they did not have the money to do so. My mom died almost two years a go and I did the work for her about a year ago... it was a very special hapening.. Do you or anyone know about OGF if that is the same there.. I suppose it is... I mean that it is ok and dont mess the files... My real dad who never got married to my mom is still alive. We visit him sometimes. And my adoptive mother is alive. I think I want to be sealed to my adoptive parents... after all I was their only child. Then again my family is the only LDS in ALL of those families as far as I know. My adoptive grandfather was the Dean of Helinki university and ALL lutheran preasts had to have their final exams with him. He was a professor of exetics... uh ... the old testament. So it was pretty hard for mom as I become an LDS. My family is very lutheran.
-
I am no Dr. and have no PhDs but the same happened to me...well my granfather was a professor, does that count?? ... the Dean or something... ALL Lutheran preasts went through his fingers at the time he was active in work. Well come from Norway.

Leaving The Church, But Interested To Know Something...
Maya replied to wonderfulnewlife's topic in Introduce Yourself
Just wondering why would it not be enough to just become inactive...why bother remove from the books? Just tell the visiting people no thanks for visiting.... I too am sure your family is afraid someone else in the family might follow you. Even though they may seen very confident in their belief... no one is that all the time and then they might find out to follow you. Since you donot seem to ahve the same values as they do they are confused on WHAT are your values. They are afraid you choose worlds values, which seems pretty obvious you will do if you plan mooving the records. Maybe they believe you do not care for such as family gettogethers as family cant mean that much for you as you resighn the thing they value most. Talk with them expalin you are the smeand listen to what they say. Maybe they have noticed a change in you that you have not. Good luck with life.
