  1. I've always tweaked the primary to fit the children. I had one six year old in my primary. She had been in with the eight year olds, and was struggling finding it boring. Very bright child but she was stuck in between each age group. I let her choose each week between the older class or nursery. Sometimes she started off with the big kids then came to play in nursery when she was struggling. I have had one year olds in my nursery when their Mums had callings. And with one small primary taught everyone in one class rather than leaving them on their own. It involved less teachers but one assisted the eight year old with her scriptures and another helped run nursery in the corner, I would allow the older three to take it in turns to be nursery assistant. If your child isn't feeling love and the spirit they are not learning about God, if they are struggling the spirit and love is much more difficult to feel.
  2. He was not an atheist, you don't have to be Christian to believe in God. That he doubted the bible as history and believed organised religion to be wrong does not mean he didn't believe in God. His lack of fear of death seems to indicate a man secure in his life. He believed God created the laws that govern the universe and our life. He had moments of doubt but given the work he accomplished very few. He classed himself as agnostic later in life. He had taken a journety of thousands of milles in uncomfortable circumstances for a man who was a bit of a wimpy hypocondriac it was one heck of a sacrifice. The one thing that comes through from his writings is a terribly honest conflicted man. He was interested and eager to learn like many men of his time. Why shouldn't he be the one of the men concerned to release the information he had put in the hours and the graft. I am not so convinced that modern science has the same drive or honesty or sacrifice behind it that men of Darwin's generation put into it. People have built on his work, and we benefit from greater understanding of the world around him, Mendel was rediscovered in the 20th Century, the genetics study has given us Watson and Crick and DNA, I find nothing more spiritual than a display of DNA. We have gained a lot from that. His work has also played a part in people questioning the mainstream churches. He came out of the same mentality that allowed the missionaries to baptise thousands upon thousands of people in the UK during the 1800s, and his work will have contributed towards some people being brave enough to ask questions from their religion.
  3. I am a passionate defender of Charles Darwin he was an a amazing man, an incredibly brave man in many ways, he went outside of his comfort zones to search for evidence. What he discovered has contributed greatly to the world. What he found is important and is part of us learning about who we are, and how we were made. Sometimes the interpretation is off but it doesn't mean we shouldn'#t stumble make mistakes, learn and grow.
  4. Charles Darwin wasn't an atheist scientist, and many of his contemporaries like George Gordon were actually ministers.
  5. I can see lots of advantages too polygamy as well as disadvantages, As long as the children are loved and cared for and the adults involved are cared for I don't see it as a bad thing.
  6. who says its mortal? An ability to sin certainly isn't, otherwise Satan and the third wouldn't have gone off. It was the first thing that Adam and Eve tried after the fall. But Satan was able to deceive them before the fall Are you not uncomfortable with having a power God doesn't?
  7. would be nice if it went well.
  8. not sure don't think so. However here in Scotland a man can wear a skirt to church but a woman is looked down on for wearing trousers:)
  9. Do you need someone to tempt you to sin? or do you sin, because its part of your nature? Personally i am very uncomfortable with the idea that God is forced to be God, and has no agency to be good. I think it shows greater power that He has chosen right and continues to do so. How can He have power over Satan if He has to be good? There is a huge difference between the statement God will not lie, and God cannot lie.
  10. they don't trouble me I have no problem with evolution happening. It happens in labs with fruit flies:) By evolution I was referring to us sharing a common ancestor with apes rather than Adam and Eve just being created as homosapien. Evolution has nothing that concerns me and I believe it has been used at various points in eternity. Sorry if I was unclear.
  11. As far as Earth goes I don't think so. However I don't think the creation of man necessarily happened the same way before us.
  12. Yes, I pray about everything I learn, I don't believe there is such a thing as secular education. Everything we learn has an eternal consequence. My understanding and belief about evolution and creation has changed over the years, and will continue to change it may not resemble what i currently believe in a few years. (That in itself is evolution lol) And once the veil is removed my understanding will be greater still. My current belief is that Adam and Eve were created by God. Evolution occurs and happens but it is not how our particular group of humans came into existence.
  13. Actually I would have found it pushy when I was a teen. I recommend the book I mentioned earlier, fact is if you are weak with prayer and FHE you are demanding one thing whilst setting the example that says church is more important than home and family. Your children see you picking things they have to do but not really taking the prophet seriously when he says best way to retain your kids is FHE. The Hinckleys didn't force their kids to church this article comes to mind. LDS.org - Liahona Article - At Home with the Hinckleys Church magazines: Sister Hinckley, you have said that “you don’t teach a child not to hit by hitting.” 5 Sister Hinckley: When my daughter Jane was a young girl, she said to me one day that she had a friend who was grounded. I said, “Grounded? What does that mean?” We let our children figure things out for themselves. They knew when they were doing wrong, and they would fix it themselves. One of our daughters decided to stay home from church one Sunday. So she stayed home. She got very lonely. Everybody was in church but her, and she just sat on the lawn. She didn’t try that again. She figured it wasn’t any fun. It was lonely.
  14. That is a completely seperate issue. However when we come to it, when I was in YW I fimly believe there were lessons in the manual that encouraged poor body image, it talked about how in order to beautiful we needed to conform to what society saw as normal. Apparently being quirky, was unattractive if you wanted a boy to fancy you. I wonder how old some of the women are and whether they are from my era of YW lessons. Why is the responsiblity not with the people who were bullying these women? Loving everyone for who they are is also a big theme of General Authority talks. Bugs me you think bullying is fine but breast im[lants are awful
  15. He could of but he didn't. And due to the change in times President Monson has the option of shooting the Mayor of SLC and if it was in defence of his family which is what the killing of Laban is portrayed as being what would you think? If the Mayor of SLC was holding your family captive and killing him would free them would you think that was right or wrong?
  16. Never watch the CSI with the dentist that bites?
  17. For me its the difference between getting married or just living together. Its a commitment that shows a greater love.
  18. because he is God and He can? Not sure whether a stroke is any better than being killed by a sword, neither is a great way to go, it did however teach Nephi. For all we know he did have a stroke and it was an act of mercy he was described as drunk
  19. God may never lie but I fully believe He is capable of doing so, after all we are his children and we can.
  20. Well actually I do - my illness and children have taken a toll on my teeth. My breasts survived kids well but my teeth collapsed. I am saving up to have work done. Its not painful and I can manage without the surgery or even false teeth. But you know what I would love it to just look better. Not sure that is much different. I don't have any self esteem issue its not necessary but yes ny life will be enriched. A woman who has sacrificed her body in pregnancy, childbirth and rearing has given at least 10% to building up the kingdom of God. If she has paid tithes and offerings she has given what the Lord requires. And it may even enrich her marriage, either through her own confidence increasing or just on a fun level.
  21. I think you are handling this in a very mature manner Heavenly Father has good reason to be proud of you. Don't feel bad about checking out the anti sites its good to know what is on them and to know how you would respond to each thing, its better to find it out and have time to investigate than to have it flung at you in real life. I find talking about how Jesus was conceived a bit like thinking about my parents had sex. Basically we don't know how he was conceived exactly. Or any of the mechanics, maybe Heavenly Father is married to Mary for eternity and Joseph for time only or maybe... or maybe... lol once you have the testimony part sorted you begin to realise most things have possible answers.
  22. dash are you perfect in everyway? Is a boob job the ideal no but I am sure I have done much worse in my life. What has happened in your ward is everyone has made an udol of several womens sets of boobs. Not sure why that is fault entirelt of those with silicone>? Personally I'd love to have a person with fake boobs come and do home or visiting teaching as its been 13 years since I've had a regular monthly visit from anyone. Or when I go yo a chapel I'll take the one with big lips who says hi my name is come and sit with me,
  23. Forget doctrine, read your scriptures, pray really learn to talk to Heavenly Father, there is a wonderful book called Learn to Pray by Macus Braybrooke. Sit take notes in sacrament and classes. Pray afterwards about the doubts you have. What you are doing is great its what you are supposed to do. Its what Joseph Smith did at your age. Study your bible, learn and pray then the temple and the history and the law of chastity don;t seem weird or freaky. Study other religions see how they fit in Din't take chances with the law of chastity used properly it will give your married life a depth you will miss out on if you stuff up. Forget everything except connecting with God. From there you decide your path
  24. I'm not judging anyone as shallow except I do find the original post shallow. But not sure how coveting another womans ass or boobs is loving each other either? Like I said in my post I would much rather have a bunch of people dressed inappropriatly that treated each other right than someone who looks the pillar of community but can't welcome a new face into the ward or offer support to another. You don't need a suit to love each other. Sure the ideal is to do both, but objecting or following a fashion is not down to the first person that decided to have their appearance altered.
