  1. just a suggestion why not do away with TV if they can;t share, when my negotiation fails I just remove the offending object
  2. Come for a night out girl:)
  3. I personally wouldn't punish in this matter I would read the books How to Talk so Kids Will Listen, How to Listen So Kids Will Talk. And they have a sister book Sibling Rivalry. They have in them skills that work for teaching children how to resolve their own conflicts. For me the principles in the books seem to exemplify how several of our prophets seem to have parented their children the following comes to mind, others have said similar things about their prophet parents, but this is the most recent that comes to mind: The Whole Article is worth a read from this point of view. LDS.org - Liahona Article - At Home with the Hinckleys Church magazines: You have said that your father never laid a hand on any of his children when disciplining them. 4 President Hinckley: That’s right. I don’t believe that children need to be beaten, or anything of that kind. Children can be disciplined with love. They can be counseled—if parents would take the time to sit down quietly and talk with them. Tell them the consequences of misbehaving, of not doing things in the right way. The children would be better off, and I think everyone would be happier. My father never touched us. He had a wisdom all his own of quietly talking with us. He turned us around when we were moving in the wrong direction, without beating us or taking a strap to us or any of that kind of business. I’ve never been a believer in the physical punishment of children. I don’t think it is necessary. Church magazines: Sister Hinckley, you have said that “you don’t teach a child not to hit by hitting.” 5 Sister Hinckley: When my daughter Jane was a young girl, she said to me one day that she had a friend who was grounded. I said, “Grounded? What does that mean?” We let our children figure things out for themselves. They knew when they were doing wrong, and they would fix it themselves. One of our daughters decided to stay home from church one Sunday. So she stayed home. She got very lonely. Everybody was in church but her, and she just sat on the lawn. She didn’t try that again. She figured it wasn’t any fun. It was lonely.
  4. its a good quote doesn't matter what he gets upto behind closed doorsk:D
  5. oh and for the aches and pains lol
  6. I know I am not the only person to have benefited from this amazing lady on the forum. Anyone who thinks she is great or just wants to make her feel good add a heart, inspirational quote and something she can pamper herself with and a fairy/elf/gnome to help her with the housework or any one of the above lol Even if happiness forgets you a little bit, never completely forget about it. ~Jacques Prévert And for good measure to help you deal with your problems
  7. no its not like that usual pattern is things coming in from outside, the feeling isn't something I normally feel. Right now we are dealing with an antisocial neighbour problem worst my town has seen for 20 years, and my daughter was abused at church, getting priesthood leaders to listen is proving hard. We have just heard some new information that means church might have been worse than we thought, my fibromyalgia is bad, have all sorts with both situation that happened last 2days
  8. Have you read How to Talk so Kids Will Listen? Instead of judging, get them to do it
  9. My opinion has not changed, you and your gf are the ones entitled to the answer. A mission isn't a requirement to the Celestial Kingdom marriage is. You don't know if you have a promised spirit waiting to come etc, neither do the people giving you advice. Have you had a blessing
  10. If you think its from the Lord go with it, maybe ask for a blessing, or try praying them opening your scriptures. I too have had an unusual response to a prayer and 6 months on I am glad I listened to the Lord and not the people who said it wasn't from Godm
  11. I'm needing something to make me smile or something spiritually enlightening. The things happening are too much to explain,,,, I guess scriptures, songs, sayings etc don't have to be religious just something to help today I have been feeling really weird and black like something is wrong somewhere and I don't know why I feel that way its not usual for me to.
  12. My life is taking its usual pattern and has got really crazy again. Not sure why both major issues that are consuming my life right now always kick off at the same time. What helps you through these times? I am so close to having nothing left to give spiritually.
  13. its obvious to you clearly. But personally until I understand and do 100% of the Lord's commands I am not about to argue with someone elses interpretation of a scripture.
  14. Ahh so the Union Jack and not the St George's Flag lol I highly doubt anyone here would have been that concerned, Missionaries often have an American Flag in their window:) but its like my husband asked how our flag was properly disposed of lol my answer was probably being washed out to sea when the tide takes your sandcastle away:) Not sure how just flying your own nations flag and actually celebrating the freedom and independence of the country you live in is that disrespectful certainly no more disrespectful than American's calling our country England:)
  15. which flag did you fly though?
  16. when are the World Cup semi finals? I still think given they are Italian it may be as much to do with that. We still have flags flying because of it. And believe me us Brits are not a nation of flag wavers. I saw 3 Scottish Flags and they didn't even qualify
  17. its not justification, I personally think its something we all decide. But my jist is we are all imperfect and if all I went to the Lord for judgement with was I ate the odd bowl of coffee icecream I'd be relieved.
  18. err doesn't need to expose anything, I am more than capable of breastfeeding my children minus blanket without even a slither of flesh showing. All it takes is a vest top underneath, And given as she is in Scotland most people are used to seeing Mums feeding babies, like my husband said it was a bit surprising at first but now its normal. I personally believe the blanket is less discreet and my babies hated being covered. If you breastfeed quietly in the chapel only the people close to you will notice, if you cover up everyone knows what you are doing. I am of the firm belief if a man can't control his thoughts he should be the one disturbing his sacrament. Mother's have a hard enough time when dealing with young children feeling the spirit at meetings and being edified. I bet that priesthood holder has probably happily sat through two meetings having his needs met. But having said that I have found teenage American missionaries from large families the most relaxed about me feeding my children, as they have seen it before.
  19. I am quite frankly shocked, I am also in Scotland its not the US, and it is an entirely normal sight here to see women feeding their babies. I have also fed my children in all manner of places with nothing but the odd positive comment. Anyone who feels uncomfortable is the one because of the law who should leave. I don't know what I would do to be honest, like you our Mother's Lounge is in the baby changing room at the back of the ladies toilets (I have my own issues with it being attached to the ladies lol) I refused to feed my baby there, I often fed them in RS and Gospel Doctrine - not in sacrament but only because it was nap time and I felt the classroom at the back of the chapel was quieter. I am having my own issues right now so not a good person to ask otherwise.
  20. If the worst thing your Mom is doing in her life is enjoying coffee icecream I should imagine she will make it to the celestial kingdom:)
  21. you have to be careful with Royal lines though, many of them were tweaked to prove their divine right to rule:)
  22. Don't know about an official standpoint but part of being tolerant and a free society is allowing views contrary to your own that you don't like. I have never been asked about political affiliation in a temple recommend interview The men I grew up around went through hell in WW2 so that we could have those freedoms, my personal view is they are scum
  23. It might have more to do with the football World Cup only time you ever see flags flying in my country is on a sandcastle, something to do with the Royal Family or football. I know Italy isn't still in it but everyone seems to fly their own national flag here. The Semi Finals are coming up
  24. Sorry, posting as Elgama, it's really Gablpa. It would appear that the word Elohim means plural, except in the contrived case of the Israelite god. Why should there be that exception to the meaning of a word, just to fit in with the theology of the authors of the two articles you cited. Wikipedia is non-authoritative as far as scholarly works go, and has a bias towards whoever last edited the page. I could go in and say that Elohim means "Football fans who wear shoes on their heads" and it would stay true until someone corrected it. Why the contrived exception to a linguistic rule?
  25. to me its sounds like most people want to increase their understanding rather than find exact ancestors. And I have known wise 19 year old missionaries who could have given an intelligent response. And there is nothing wrong with saying this is my understanding at this stage in my life. Just because I may not get back to Adam in my family history doesn't mean I shouldn't start it
