  1. My wife's grandfather recently passed away and I was asked to help with dressing his body in his temple clothes. I have never done this before and the thought of it creeps me out a little. I've never felt comfortable at viewings that proceed funerals. I usually try to avoid going into the viewing room where the body is on display. If anyone who has done this before can give me some advice on what to expect or how to handle it I would appreciate it.
  2. My MIL always says "irregardless" which drives me wife crazy. Technically it's not a word.
  3. The Nook Color runs on Android. I just updated mine to Froyo 2.2. It only runs Nook approved apps, but you could root it to be a full blown Android tablet. You can go to nookdevs.com to learn how to root it.
  4. Who is it Pam? I might know him. PM me. Steve
  5. I don't think the church has a stance, but as for my family we LOVE Harry Potter. We took the kids in their jammies to midnight book release parties. We dress up in our HP clothes when we see the movies in the theater. We're gonna have a HP movie marathon before we go see the last movie in a couple of weeks. If people have a problem with HP because of the magic, they must have a problem with most Disney movies considering a lot of them contain magic in one form or another. Steve
  6. are you taking any medication for your MS? My mom has MS and she takes a shot every week and it seems to keep her MS under control.
  7. Why is it when after passing the sacrament and the Bishop excuses the priesthood to sit with their families, the two who blessed the bread and water stay in their seats. A guy in our EQ said that in his previous ward, where he was ward clerk, the Bishopric got a letter from the First Pres. saying that this was a new policy. I don't know how long ago that was. However, in my MILs ward the two blessers go back to their seats after the Bishop excuses the priesthood.
  8. Don't expect to understand everything that is presented. Don't worry. There will be people there to help you. Don't want to give too much away, but there is a point in the endowment that I've seen first-timers get nervous about. You'll be asked to recite, but there there will workers to help with that.
  9. While she liked the cover, my wife's said that it looked very "Catholic".
  10. Just read Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. It will change your life. Amazon.com: Eat to Live: The Amazing Nutrient-Rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss (9780316120913): Joel Fuhrman: Books
  11. Probably. Sweetwater Union High School District.
  12. IT Support Technician for the local high school district.
  13. Well, we went to the see the therapist yesterday and she says it looks like a combination of ODD and OCD and suggested that we take him to see a child psychologist so we can get some meds for him. Hopefully that will do the trick because me and my wife are going out of our minds right now.
  14. Unfortunately, the school won't help much since it's not affecting him in school. The therapist at LDS SS did mention that we may need to take him to a psychologist because his condition may beyond her scope of expertise.
  15. Has anybody here had a child with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder)? We have an 8 year old son who is causing a lot of problem within the family because he just absolutely refuses to follow rules. He refuses to do homework, pick up after himself, take a bath when we ask him to and numerous other things. He fights a lot with his brothers and sister and will NEVER apologize if he's hurt one of them or done something wrong. According to him nothing is his fault. What's really frustrating is that he does well in school and at church and typically does what his teachers ask. It's only at home that he acts like this. We've been taking him to LDS Family Services to meet with a therapist, but things seem to be getting worse lately. Anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with this sort of child?
  16. My wife's dad was always involved in scouting when she was growing. Because of this he was always out of the home and she has come really resents the scouting program because of that. We do let our 8 year old go to scouts because he likes it, but we have never pushed it on him.
  17. I can't wait for the Hunger Games movie to come out. Hopefully it will be true to the book. I think the movie studios never intended to make any followups to The Lightning Thief. That's why they changed the movie so much. How can they possibly make a followup when Kronos is not even mentioned in The Lightning Thief?
  18. How about a holodeck? that would be awesome!
  19. Yes! Also the spell Dumbledore does to clean up the house Slughorn is staying in in Half-Blood Prince.
  20. We didn't take our kids out since we took them to trunk or treat last week. We did give out candy on Halloween, but the interesting thing was that we let the kids hand out the candy and they said that it was more fun giving out the candy than getting it.
  21. hmmm. Didn't Brigham Young "change" (can't think of a better word right now) the WoW to a commandment as opposed to just "good counsel".
  22. This is my understanding. Concerning the Law of C, how can we break it if it isn't in effect at this time?
  23. If a endowed member breaks the WoW is it considered breaking your temple covenants? I know it will keep you from getting a TR.
