  1. I love The Lord’s Prayer. We recited it every morning in elementary school in GA in the early 70’s. Repetitions in prayers is only “wrong” if the repetitions are VAIN (not humble, w/o believe it will be effective, lack of respect for HF). For example, I see nothing wrong w repeatedly asking Our Father to bless my children and do so every time I personally pray. Now onto the real reason for my post…Consider that The Savior gave His prayer in a sacred setting (at a temple and on a mount). He gave it in the context of covenant making. He gave it while giving the higher law. He gave it to his close followers not to the populace. He gave it to those accepting the law of obedience, sacrifice, the gospel, chastity and consecration. He was surrounded by His believers. Finally He wasn’t telling them to repeat the prayer later..He was saying repeat it now (i.e. repeat after me). It couldn’t it be any more obvious. What we call The Lord’s Prayer is really The True Order of Prayer as demonstrated by The Master. I love The Lord’s Prayer.
  2. Because we’re trying so hard to “be like them” that we’re losing our own identity. It’s sad really.
  3. I recently got a new boss and she just came to town. I took her on a tour of The Conference Center and told her about my daughter’s recent mission call. It’s not much but it’s a start. I’m trying to figure out how to presen5 her w a BoM.
  4. That’s an interesting thought.
  5. You should read his book. It provides so much detail and information that it will be time well spent.
  6. Is it possible that Adam and Eve / the garden of Eden is more allegorical than historical? If so, pretty much all of the difficult questions go away.
  7. Agreed. My question though is why do the LDS scholars go with “ rock and the hat”?
  8. Yeah, wish it were true.
  9. Once a person dies, their new reality will be so significantly different from this moral earth life that they will know almost immediately.
  10. The Book of Job is the oldest text in the canon. It even predates Genesis. Job is an allegory and was written as a temple txt. Let me outline it this way: -Job lived in a near paradisiacal state. He had everything he could want. -Satan came into his world and caused heart ache and evil. -His integrity was tested by three friends to see if he would retain his love and loyalty for God. -special blessing were pronounced upon him for his righteousness - Finally he was rewarded to a higher level than before when he fell into his world of pain. Does that sound familiar? Incidentally it’s one of my favorite books in the Bible.
  11. I agree w you. It all seems “weak sauce” to me.
  12. I make an effort to READ the lyrics to all of the Christmas hymns in our hymnal. There is much in the songs that is missed when just singing. Try it sometime

  14. This book gives a pretty compelling argument for the day/night/ day with no darkness. Worth the read. Better still it’s on a free pdf. (Sorry can’t get it to let me post the link) Calendars and Chronology of the Book of Mormon Jerry D. Grover, Jr.
  15. Sorry but this was proven to b a hoax sometime last year.
