The Lakers purchased the 46th overall pick from the Washington Wizards to draft Jordan Clarkson. Projected to go in the 1st-round, Clarkson is a tough combo guard who excels at getting to the basket.

Last year we had our difficulties with injuries.  This year we now have our second which was Jeremy Lin sprained his ankle at practice and will need it reevaluated and we haven't even started the season yet.  We were spanked by Golden State yesterdays but it is just preseason so we are just going to see what we see.

Tonight we have our hardest game of the season against Houston.  Why hardest?  Because this is our first game and I don't know how strong we will be.  Hurt players, newbies, we shall see how we show up today.  GO LAKERS!  They have star players with Howard and Hardin.  They are going to be tough.  I hope we show up and play.

Lakers vs. Hornets: 10 Things to Know

Here is what you need to know before the Lakers face off against the new-look Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

1) Kobe Bryant leads the NBA in scoring with 27.6 points per game. He is also averaging a league-high 24.4 shots per game. Head coach Byron Scott says he and Bryant are looking to get the other Lakers more involved in the offense. (Kobe is shooting too much and not allowing his team to play team basketball bold mine)

“(Bryant) wants guys to step up and take shots when they have them — not defer to him as much,” Scott said. “I gotta remind him not to chase the ball at times, to let those guys play, because sometimes you gotta let those guys make mistakes as well. He tries to bail them out at times. … That’s the competitive nature he has.

“But he realizes that he wants to step back a little bit and let guys play and let guys develop and give them that confidence.”  (realize vs do-we shall see)

2) Jordan Hill has been on a tear over the last three games, averaging 20.3 points on 61.5 percent shooting. Hill is also grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game during this stretch, including a 15-board effort in his first double-double of the season on Tuesday.  (I miss Pau and please Hill is stepping up we need a big)

3) Ed Davis has been among the league’s most efficient scorers so far. His 66.7 field goal percentage is tied for third in the NBA with Cory Joseph.

4) The Lakers have allowed opponents to shoot a league-high 68.5 percent in the restricted area. This issue will be tested Sunday against Charlotte’s Al Jefferson.  (we need to tighten this up)

5) Jefferson, who was named to last year’s All-NBA third team, has scored at least 14 points in each game this season, including when he dropped a season-high 34 points against Atlanta on Friday. Jefferson dropped 40 points to lead the Hornets to victory the last time they faced the Lakers.  (Let's use him agist his old team)

“Al Jefferson presents a problem because of the fact that he can score on that box,” Scott said. “Jordan Hill, Ed Davis (and) Robert (Sacre), they’re gonna have their handles full. But we also got to help them. So we’re also not gonnna leave them out there on an island as much as possible.”

6) Lance Stephenson led the league with five triple-doubles last season for the Indiana Pacers. The first-year Hornet has made an immediate impact for his new club. He is currently averaging 10.0 rebounds per game and hit a game-winning, buzzer-beating 3-pointer in double overtime Friday.

7) Hornets backup point guard Brian Roberts is one of the best free throw shooters in basketball. He led the league by shooting 94.0 percent from the foul line last season and has made all six of his attempts this year. Since entering the NBA in 2012, Roberts has missed just 15 of his 216 free throws (93.1 percent).

8) Charlotte shares the ball more than any other team. The Hornets’ 348.4 passes per game rank behind only Utah’s 396.6.  (This is the right way to play.  Boys take note)

9) Hornets coach Steve Clifford turned the then-Bobcats around in his first season last year. Charlotte won 43 games under the former Lakers assistant – 15 more than it did in the combined two years prior.

10) Under Clifford, Charlotte has been a strong defensive team. This season, the Hornets have allowed the fewest second-chance points per game (7.7) and the third-fewest fast break points (9.2).

(We need to get a win under out belt!)

We take on the Memphis Grizzlies tonight.  They lost last game and we now what it feels like to get one win this season.  It would be nice to win but they have been playing really well and we are in their house.  We have our work cut out for us tonight.  GO LAKERS!

Kobe now has the record for most missed field goals!  104-102 Memphis :(  Kobe 28 points, Hill 14 rebounds and Kobe with 6 assists.  We are in trouble.

Go played well last night and took one 114-109 over ATL.  Kobe made his 32,000 points in his career this night.  Boozer had a double double and Kobe had 28 points in this game.  Swaggy P returned this game.  We are now 2-9.  I hurts to say but it is what it is right now.  I'll take any wins this season.

98-92 Lakers over Rockets in Houston.  Boozer had another double-double with 13 boards and 12 points while Hill had a double-double with 16 pts and 10 rebounds.  Kobe had 29 points.  3-9 now.

Hi MormonGator,

Enjoy it while it lasts.   :(

Oh I am. But don't worry. My Celtics aren't exactly pounding on the championship door anytime soon.

Watching my boys struggle this hard is no fun to watch.  Celtics have the most championships so you can sit with that feeling.  IMO my boys are going to be down for a long time but they are still my team.

Lakers at Mavericks: 10 Things to Know (Game 13)

from here: http://www.nba.com/lakers/141121_10things

Here is what you need to know before the Lakers take on the Dallas Mavericks.

1) The Lakers starting frontcourt — Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill — has stepped up in the team’s past two games, as both players recorded double-doubles in each contest. The pair combined to score 66 points and grab 43 rebounds in L.A.’s back-to-back against Atlanta and Houston.

2) The Lakers are Jeremy Lin’s fourth team in his five-year career, but he got his start with the Mavericks, though he never played for them. In five games off the bench for Dallas’ 2010 Summer League team, Lin shot a team-best 54.5 percent to average 9.8 points per contest, leading to a rookie contract with Golden State.

3) The Lakers expect Wayne Ellington, who missed the last six games following the death of his father, to be available off the bench against the Mavericks. Ellington played for Dallas last year and averaged 3.2 points in 8.7 minutes.

4) Last season, the Mavericks swept the Lakers for the first time in franchise history. Dallas comfortably won each game by at least 12 points for an average score of 113-99.

5) Next to only Kobe Bryant (32,030), Dirk Nowitzki (27,015) has scored more career points than anybody currently in the league. Hailing from Würzbug, Germany, Nowitzki is ninth all-time and first among foreign-born players in scoring. He also leads all active players in career offensive win shares (133.0).

6) Backup power forward Brandan Wright leads the NBA by shooting 76.1 percent from the field. The Lakers received a personal taste of that efficiency on April 4 last season, as Wright scored 23 points on a 10-for-10 clip to become the first player in Mavericks history to shoot perfectly on double-digit attempts.

7) Dallas also has the league’s third-most efficient scorer, Tyson Chandler, who is shooting 69.2 percent, placing him just ahead of fourth-place Ed Davis (62.7). Chandler also leads all active players in career field goal percentage (58.6), and trails only Artis Gilmore (59.9) for best all-time.

8) Backup guard Devin Harris (right leg soreness) is questionable against the Lakers, which could signal some turbulence for Dallas since he leads the team in assists (4.4) and steals (1.3). Harris also has an NBA-best 6.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.

9) The Mavericks enjoy one of the best home-court advantages in the league. They have an NBA-best 520-game sellout streak dating back to Dec. 15, 2001. Since moving to the American Airlines Center for the 2001-02 season, Dallas is 399-132 (.751) at home.

10) The Mavericks lead the league with 108.9 points per game, and they have done so by spreading the ball around. Dallas does not have any players among the NBA’s top 15 scorers, but it does have five Mavericks who are averaging double figures: Monta Ellis (19.7), Nowitzski (19.1), Chandler Parsons (14.0), Chandler (10.9) and Wright (10.1).

Very true. If we keep Rondo I think the Celtics could at least surprise some teams and play spoiler. I don't see them growing into a dominant force with this team. I thought we were going to get Kevin Love in the offseason.

I enjoy watching DeMar DeRozan grow into a dominant player in Toronto. I knew this would happen. I've watched his career for awhile and it's nice to see.

Do you think Kyrie Irving and LeBron will learn to play nice together? I think the strife behind the scenes is more serious than what we know. The coach has lost control of the team.

And Jeremy Lin is a great player. I am surprised he has been with so many teams! I have never been a Carlos Boozer fan. I don't think he has the passion. :-(
