Why Prop 40 ???

Two reasons

1. I figured it is a long way from 8

2. It's my age

Anyway Prop 40 is about the " Favorite toys " you remember as a young lad.

Does anyone want to join in??

One of my all time favorites was " crash em up derby " anyone remember that ??

You used to take two cars and smash them up on a track in mid air. WAAY COOOL

Well, I was never a young "lad" and I'm only almost 28, so my generation is a little more recent, but I still have classic toys. Some of my favorites were Strawberry Shortcake (I still have all my original Strawberry Shortcake toys), Care Bears, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kids (all of which have recently been revived in popularity), and Rainbow Brite (which has yet to see a re-surge). However, perhaps one of the most treasured toys I ever played with (and still have to this day), are the American Girls dolls. For those of you who don't know, the Samantha doll is being retired at the end of this year. :(

We had the old Atari game system with all those old games like Pong and Space Invaders and Asteroids. Remember the joy sticks?

We thought we were so cool.

Mr. Wing still has an original Atari paddle with like 20 old school games loaded onto it.

One of my all time favorite toys was actually on our school playground, and called "the Giant Strikes". It was a long round metal pipe that was secured in concrete, stood strait up probably about 15 ft high or so... It had a round gear at the top that turned with chains that hung down and bars on the end where you would hang on. Everyone would run in a circle until you would fly off of the ground.

I searched the internet and found a picture of it and this is what it said under the picture: The most dangerous playground device ever invented. This was known as the "giant strikes" by most kids. It is pictured here before its removal. Even before it was removed students were eventually barred from playing with it. The large chains and handle bars on the ends would swing around and pop you in the face once someone let go or fell off. It caused more bloody noses than most alumni can count.

I never had a bloody nose from getting hit in the head with a bar and actually only let go in mid-flight once which resulted in losing a lot of skin off of my knees and elbows! It was a lesson well learned and I held on for dear life after that!

I loved those games.
