pam Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 I got this in an e-mail today. A British pilot says he ran into an unusual hazard while making an emergency landing -- a cow. Rob Wotton says he was trying to land his World War II-era Tiger Moth after the engine stalled just after takeoff southwest of London on Sept. 14. He was about to touch down in a field when the animal wandered into his way. A You Tube video shows the brown-and-white cow being knocked to the ground by the plane's lower left wing. The two-seater was damaged but landed safely. An accident report says the cow was "apparently uninjured." Wotton says he might paint a cow on the plane to mark the event. He says: "I have to say it is the first cow I have ever hit in 22 years' flying." YouTube - Cow Hit By Landing PlaneI hope this bovine wasn't related to beefche. Quote
teddyk Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) He may be the 1st known cow Ace in the history of bi-planes. Edited December 19, 2008 by teddyk spelling Quote
Prodigal_Son Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 I watched that video. That is so stinking funny, I can't believe it. Reminds me of the scene in "O Brother, Where Art Thou" where the boys are making their getaway with Babyface Nelson: "Cows? I HATE cows!":lol: Quote
teddyk Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Wonder if he thought the cow appeared to be an enemy combatant, "osama bin cowdin" Quote
beefche Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 I don't think he's a family member. I've done some genealogy and we have Bovines, Cattle, Steers, a small branch of Bulls, but mainly our family comes from the Heifers. Quote
Cra-Z Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Pretty nuts. Weird that it's like they barely notice it. Quote
pam Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 That was my thought Cra-Z. It didn't seem like they even knew they had just hit a cow. Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Why was he landing in the field vice a landing field? Quote

beefche Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) Actually, I think this is just a more sophisticated game of cow tipping. Edited December 21, 2008 by beefche who cares about grammar? Quote
