Still_Small_Voice Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I love this version of A Poor Wayfaring Man Of Grief. Listen to it at: Quote
Batmanifestdestiny Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I'm not much a fan of that variety of country, but it's still pretty good. BTW: Are you running your computer in Ubuntu? Quote
Dr T Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I liked it. It sounded like Folk music to me. Like Bob Dylan type. It was good IMO. Thank you for posting it. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I love that show (New York Doll). Here's a blog entry I made about it. Quote

Moksha Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Here is a bit clearer version with better graphics: YouTube - 27 June 1844 - poor wayfaring man of griefDid you know this song was Joseph Smith's favorite. This is the same song that President John Taylor sang to Joseph Smith right before his death? Ebenezer Beesley changed the tune right before it was added to the Church hymn book. Here is what it is thought to have sounded like as President Taylor sought to recall it: MormonTimes - Original 'Poor Wayfaring Man' had different tuneOf course, even this early version tune varies from the original Christian hymn that Taylor had heard in England as a missionary and included in the Manchester Hymnal (1840-1912).:) Quote
Moksha Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Come Come Ye Saints... Buster Poindexter What a great version of that song. Wish we could have heard it in today's Testimony meeting. Quote
FlaviusHambonius Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I saw the movie 'New York Doll' a few years back and loved it. I thought it was great how Buster sang these songs in tribute to Arthur after he had passed--a man who went from one end of the spectrum to the other. Quote
Still_Small_Voice Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 Good find on the Come, Come Ye Saints Hymn Snow. This wasn't a Hymn I really liked until I heard this version of it. Many hymns don't sound very good as they are sung in church as some members don't have much musical training. Quote
