A while ago (it could have been a month or a year; I forget) someone, somewhere on this site posted an excerpt. This particular excerpt was a fictional account of Abraham's fictional servant, who recorded the decline of Sodom into its wicked and filthy state.

I keep thinking about this excerpt and want to read it again, but I cannot for the life of me find it (I've been looking for it using the Advanced Search options, but no luck yet). Does this ring a bell with anyone? I want to say it was written by Elder Bednar (but I'm not sure on that detail).

Anyone who helps me find it gets a digital picture of an ice cream cone! Who wouldn't like that incentive?

I'm going to go out on a limb and answer for the group....no, this does not sound familiar at all. Sorry...hope you can either remember more about it or find it.

I have never heard of this. Fwiw, illustrating a point by using a non-scriptural story about a fictional servant doesn't sound to me like something Elder Bednar (or any other apostle) would likely do.

Aaaaaah! I must find it... Or remember what site I read it on; if not on this one.

It might not have been Bednar who wrote it; that's just my first guess.

Oh well, I guess I'll let this thread die... I can't believe no one remembers what I'm talking about. It was SO COOL.

Well, we all know what Sodomy is.

But I've long wondered what Gommorahmy is / was. Would that the faithful and well-spoken Eliezer had gone there and reported.

PS. The last Bible as Lit course I took, I noticed how strange Issac's life was after his journey into the wilderness. Someone should write about that.

I knew you probably wouldn't give yourself one..but you deserve a super duper duper ice cream cone.

I thought it might have been you when I first started searching- but an advanced search looking for the words "Abraham" and "sodom" in your posts didn't return any results (unfortunately). I had to look for "Eliezer", the name of Abraham's servant.

I could have saved a lot of effort just by asking you.

I am the one who posted it here on this forum...whether it was fictional, we simple do not know unless the Savior reveals it personally to us.

An alternative method for determining whether it is fiction is to read the story.

...There are, of course, no "Sodom Scrolls" to supply such information...These fictitious scrolls and their content do take advantage of what we know about Sodom from the scriptures and from secular sources...

I tend to think Hemidakota is talking about the way that Sodom fell into wickedness and the path things took, not necessarily its presentation or method of presentation (that Eliezer copied the events down on the Sodom scrolls).
