Raine Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 It's kind of funny, I just registered with the site, couldn't use my normal username, looked at the profile, and realized that it was because I registered here over a year ago and forgot. I consider myself a Christian and a seeker, I guess I could be called an investigator. I've spent a long time studying scripture and praying, but have been disappointed in a lot of the churches I've attended, because things just seemed so artificial at many of them. I've been interested in the LDS for a while, but sort of backed off on taking the discussions or anything because my family is very hostile to the church, and my husband isn't really supportive of any sort of Christian religion. I'm expecting a son in March, so I guess that's one reason it's so important to me now to find the "right" church, and I keep having small coincidences that point me back to the LDS. For now, I am reading the Book of Mormon on my own, along with the Bible, and I will probably talk to the missionaries after I'm done, if my husband is ok with it. I'd also like to start attending church, but I don't know if he would, so I may have to wait until I get my driving privileges back [i've been passing out, probably because of something with the pregnancy, & the doctor doesn't want me driving until they get it under control]. I guess at this point I'm a "probable" convert - I'm skeptical by nature, but very hopeful that I've finally found the true church, and mainly just looking into everything deeply to be sure. I'm glad to have found a forum to ask questions & read other people's thoughts and experiences with their faith. Quote
LDSgirl Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Welcome to the site! I hope that you find the church that you are looking for!:) Quote
Still_Small_Voice Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Pray that your husband's heart will be softened so the Lord may lead you to the right church. I am so glad I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been a member for a little over 26 years and it has brought so many blessings into my life. Know that there are many Christians who will welcome you if you decide to be baptized. Quote
LDSVALLEY Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Welcome Just a suggestion but if your husband is not in favor of church try and find out when the local LDS chapel is holding events like special choir nights or activities. It is a good way to ease someone into the out skirts of the gospel. Quote
Maya Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Hi Raine great to have you here. I was a bit in alike situation when I got interested in the church. You are welcome to read my stories on my profile. You are welcome to PM me and ask anything you need to know but dont want o ask in the forum. My family was against me joining, but I knew that God knew that I knew, and I could not deny it! Been a member since and just love every day of it! Soon 30 years! Maya Officially: Dear Newbie: Welcome to LDS.net. You will find here an ecclectic mix of LDS and some non-members. While the site is dedicated to the Gospel, and to promoting the Church to a world that often does not understand us, we also make room for conversations about current events, and about social and cultural practices within the Church. If your main desire is to learn about the Church, consider starting with the "Learn About Mormonism" forums. For more advanced teachings, that will often include a variety of perspectives, some non-LDS, consider the Gospel section of forums. While you are welcome to all main sections, be aware this site makes room for a variety of opinions and personalities. Some posters can be passionate about their views, and occasionally more so about them than about the souls of visitors. If you find something particularly offensive, feel free to make a report by clicking the appropriate tab. Quote
