nmdesertrose Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 So my friend joined e-harmony.com and she has been communication with a couple of LDS guys on there. One of the questions she asked him (or rather one that e-harmony asks I guess) is what is your body-type preference. His answer was... "You've probably heard this before but I am looking for someone whom I will not be ashamed to present to the Lord in the hereafter." I don't know about you but I've actually never heard someone say that before. I just thought it was kind of interesting phrasing. Quote
BenRaines Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Never heard that before. I remember a scripture from back in Seminary days. The Lord does not look on the outward appearance but looks upon the heart. If I recall it was in Samuel and referred to the young age of the called prophet. Ben Raines Quote
pam Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Hmmm if he is talking about physical appearance...that is a very strange thing to say as Heavenly Father loves all equally no matter what they look like. Seems to me if that if what he is saying about physical appearance..he's using something religious to supposedly strengthen a very shallow point of view. If I were your friend...that would be a red flag to me. Edited November 22, 2009 by pam Quote
Mahone Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Seems to me if that if what he is saying about physical appearance..he's using something religious to supposedly strengthen a very shallow point of view.Completely agree. And he knows this in reality, it just makes it seem less shallow when announcing it - he has to be talking about physical features (not spiritual etc) as that was what the question was regarding. I would ask him exactly what he is implying with that answer. Quote

talisyn Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Is this what my younger sisters have to deal with in the singles wards? Quote
OneEternalSonata Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 There again... when I was in a YSA ward a sister said she wanted a "hunky, captain Moroni type with a great body." Still amused by that, especially because she was serious. Quote
Gwen Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 i've heard e-harmony is a scam and they reject a lot of the ppl that sign up as unable to find a match.... tell her good job for making it past the front door. as for the guy, sounds like one that would be fun to play mind games with... i know that sounds bad, some ppl just set themselves up so well it's hard to resist. pam Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 I can just hear Heavenly Father saying to him..."How DARE you judge my daughters that way." Quote
Moksha Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 what is your body-type preference. His answer was... "You've probably heard this before but I am looking for someone whom I will not be ashamed to present to the Lord in the hereafter." Yeah, God sure was picky in designing so many types. No doubt He will ask this e-harmony fellow what he meant. Quote
beefche Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 "You've probably heard this before but I am looking for someone whom I will not be ashamed to present to the Lord in the hereafter." "I completely agree with you! Thank you for letting me know so quickly. I'll now block any future communications with you." Quote
pam Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 haha well that's rude since it's her friend that joined eharmony not the OP. lol Quote
beefche Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Ok, let me explain it: Guy says to me: "You've probably heard this before but I am looking for someone whom I will not be ashamed to present to the Lord in the hereafter." My response to him: "I completely agree with you! Thank you for letting me know so quickly. I'll now block any future communications with you." My post was not aimed at the OP at all. Just a suggestion on a response to the dude on eharmony. Quote
pam Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Ohhhh I thought YOU were responding to the OP..not that you were providing a come back line to the guy. Gotcha. Quote
