mliff Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Before I went back to church on 5-2-10 I was feeling very down (empty inside). I was going through some of my old books and found this little booklet the missionaries (at the time) that baptised me made for me. Inside the booklet is there addresses. Now this is almost 5 years later, I decided to write one of them just to see if the address was still the same and just for some support. Well in the letter I gave my cell phone number. After a few day I got a phone call and it was the Missionary that baptised me. I was excited. He actually told me that a week before he recieved my letter that he was actually thinking about me. I was amazed that he remembered me. We talked for a while and he helped me out again like he did when I was first getting lessons from him. Now we talk atleast 1 or 2 times a week. It's really good for his support. I just wanted to share this. Quote
Hemidakota Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I would be interested to see what happened to the group of missionaries who baptized me in China over thirty years ago...now if I can remember their names! Lucky you... Quote
mliff Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 that would be amazing to find out lol. Quote
MisterT Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 It should be on your "Individual Ordance Summary" which can be gotten from your ward clerk. He can log into the mainframe in SLC and get it for you in minutes. Each milestone on the summary, babtism, ordination to the priesthood, etc. will have the name of the person performing the ordinance. With a little luck and the Family History Centers, you may be able to find that person or a relative who's still living. Wouldn't that be incredible!?! Quote
zippy_do46 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) mliff thanks for sharing, it is hard coming back , but so worth it. It was the missionaries that were tracking neighborhoods that found me the second time around. When they found out I was already a member they had visiting teachers and home teachers that night out there. Hang in there. Zippy Edited May 15, 2010 by zippy_do46 Quote
Angelagiftedgirl Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I wonder if Elder Hair and Elder Tidwell are still out there. I was baptized in the 70s in Texas. I still remember how my family was introduced to the church by them. Quote
Bini Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Good share :] That's really neat. My parents have home-videos back in the 80's of me, my sister and a couple missionaries that stayed with us in Portugal. I honestly couldn't tell you what their names were, or what they even looked like! I just don't remember those details. I have thought about tracking those missionaries down and sending them a copy of it because while they stayed with us, they were practically family, and we did so many fun activities and sightseeing. I'm sure they'd get a good chuckle out of it. Quote
