I need some statistics to show that an internett forum does or does not help with. Read LDS in front of each question. You can klick in so many boxes that you feel are right for you.

I certainly have to agree with this one. Probably the only advantage to being a moderator, it requires me to do quite a bit of research when Im questioning the validity of claims and information posted. Plus searching for answers when people have questions has for sure increased my knowledge quite a bit as well.

Unfortunately you won't be able to add that, but people can comment on it.

I understand you just fine, Maya.

BTW, what if you applied some baking soda directly on that Dysgarfi?

Hey neat, the two items I checked are leading in the polls.

ok, now this is going to be part off-topic/part on-topic:p cos i didn't find a better place for it...

so...yey...i just went to my first Sunday Service in the local ward (and it's actually the first Sunday service in my life:unsure: ) and i also met and arranged a further meeting with the local missionaries^_^...so...ya...just wanted to share this with you guys:)

...oh and to make it "on-topic":p all this happened very much because of this forum and the interesting and useful info about the LDS Church that i found on here:)

p.s. forgot to mention that, to my surprise, i met in the church today an old friend of mine (that i haven't seen for a while) that has just been baptized - it's a small world, huh?^_^

I think the Church is doing great work with its internet presence. I would never have learned so much, so quickly, without the internet. Also, I wouldn't have had Mormons to talk to. You can't really walk around town and ask people if they are Mormon!

For an investigator, the improved Mormon.org site was helpful to show me people of my age and race who had converted. It's nice to see I'm not the only person crazy enough to be thinking about this!

Dahlia, I'm going to send you a message to your email account on file. We need to fix that you don't have a profile.

*edit* It just came back as undeliverable. Please email me at [email protected]

I've learned a lot about the church through Internet postings and whatnot. I don't post much on this forum because it's not a very comfortable place to hang out. Moderation is a little too heavy handed for me.

I'm disappointed to see that my old friend Moksha got banned.

I find the moderation here pretty cool, keeps the inane arguing away, there are plenty of other boards for that kind of posting.

Really, Moksa got banned? I wonder what for.(I don't read every thread -- too much to do in real life)

Yeah, Moksha got banned for making fun of some Islamic concepts. Well, I guess the axe just falls and kills us all eventually. Pretty much everyone will get banned eventually. It's a slaughterhouse.

However, I spend most of my posting time on a board that cannot ban you. The most they can do is suspend you for a week and then let you back on. It's pretty much free speech in all aspects of Mormonism -- both pro and con. It's been a real learning experience and challenges the mind. You'd be amazed what you can learn in a venue of free speech without moderators stepping in to control everything and tell us what we can and can't say -- thus forcing us to behave. I don't like being forced. It reminds me of Lucifer.

Anyway, I think I'll just disappear from here for a year or so. No sense in getting in trouble with the moderators.

I'm going to study up on the Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 and see what the prophets have said about them.

I'm not impressed with your line of thinking, Paul. Or your interpretation of events.

Mok got banned after a series of infractions that cumulated with his post containing vulgar juvinile ascii portrayals of mohammed. I ran it past my "If someone said the same thing about Joseph Smith, would I be insulted" filter, and found myself mildly annoyed. Worth an infraction. Which he had been accumulating.

No, everybody does not get banned eventually - this place is not a slaughterhouse. That's like one condemned murderer saying "yeah, everyone lands on death row eventually" - in total denial that it's their own actions landing them there.

There are indeed many benefits to talking to people in unmoderated environments. There are also benefits to hanging out in clubs with likeminded people. This forum is here for those interested in learning about what a good and cool and true thing the church is. It's part of the moregood foundation - it's here to help mormons use the net to share our beliefs. It's a bully pulpit paid for by believing members, provided to help share our message. We are not a public street. We are not an apologetic organization - go to MADB. We're not here to argue criticisms. We're not an unmoderated free for all - go to that board you mention. We're not here to challenge your mind - and we're not forcing you to be here, either by holding a gun to your head, or using seductive lies, or any other manipulative tactic. Lucifer indeed.

It's a juvenile mind who walks into a chess club and accuses them of using force because they prefer to play by the rules. You wanna play full-contact naked crisco chess, be my guest. You won't doing it in our gazebo - we already rented it and have other things going on. Go get your own gazebo.
