Backroads Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 All right, this morning, coming into the office: I was viciously attacked by a drink containing red kool-aid. I was wearing a white skirt. The skirt was rinsed in cold water and is currently soaking in a mix of cold water and white vinegar. Any further suggestions? Should it even be soaking? Quote

applepansy Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Soaking in a solution of Oxyclean and hot water worked on a red stain for me, but it wasn't koolaid Quote
estradling75 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Silly Backroads... You are suppose to be drinking the Kool Aid... Not wearing it Quote
Blocky Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I ditto oxyclean. It's been amazing at taking out stains. I've had soda on the carpet and face paint in the carpet, and it took care of both. Quote

Backroads Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 The offending koolaid has been These guys understand. Anywho, I got it out with the vinegar soak and then a hot water wash with baking soda and borax. Yay! Quote
RipplecutBuddha Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I also find Dawn dish soap gets out most any stain rather nicely. Just use it as any other pre-wash stain treatment. Let it soak in for ten minutes or so, then toss in. Quote

Iggy Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Oy, don't put Dawn in the washing machine... Don't put any liquid hand dish washing soap in the automatic dishwasher- Yes, Backroads, this is from personal experience - my upstairs neighbor did this and blew the door off of her dishwasher. Unfortunately for her and management her dishwasher was facing a sliding glass door & yes, it broke the window. I used liquid hand dish washing soap in the clothes washer- used it as a degreaser on hubbies clothes. Also used Cascade granules in the clothes washer. The machine had sat unused with water and shirts in it for a year. It was in an apartment, and the owners were not going to replace it unless it was absolutely necessary. After removing the nasty, slimy shirts and emptying the water, the repair man in about a cup of cascade, put in 4 medium size throw rugs and set the machine to hot wash and hot rinse. After that full wash/rinse cycle, he wiped down the rubber gaskets, etc. with one of the throw rugs, then washed them all again with regular laundry detergent. Got rid of the mold, the smell and everything except the stain. Oh, yeah-regarding red drinks whether Kool Aid or not. The Stake President announced via a letter to the wards, that red drinks are NOT to be served in the cultural hall, kitchen, or any where in the premises of any of the Meeting Houses or at the Stake Center. Red drinks stain- no matter how fast you clean it up. He is right on with that. Spilled Fruit Punch on my new blond wood computer desk, wiped it up almost immediately, there is now a stain! Can not get the stain out of the cloth towel I wiped it up with either. Quote
