tubaloth Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Something in last weeks Sunday School lesson had me think of this. I was wondering if getting Angry is only something tied to our physical bodies/world. I would have to figure out how I define "Angry" and I'm not really sure. I know Satan and probably God get frustrated. When it talks about God being Angry, thats not really the same thing as Humans getting Angry. That line might be to thin to notice. I also believe being Angry is just a form of pride. We know from pre-mortal life that nobody has more pride then Lucifer. (that makes me think that a spirit can get Angry). I guess no Angry birds in the spirit world? Quote
Blocky Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 I don't seem why not. When I get angry, it always starts in my mind, how I think about something. Then I feel the effects of it on my body. It's never the other way around. Quote

Vort Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Pretty sure satan was angry at some point once his plan was rejected.Or later. Moses 1:19 reads:And now, when Moses had said these words, Satan cried with a loud voice, and ranted upon the earth, and commanded, saying: I am the Only Begotten, worship me.Sounds angry to me. RipplecutBuddha Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Of course spirits can be angry, or happy, sad, lonely, loving, hurtful, hateful, etc. We are spirits within physical bodies, and we can experience the full range of emotion given to us. When Christ was born and Gabriel announced the event to the shepherds tending their flocks, the hosts of heaven broke out in joyful song "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." It only makes sense if the heavenly hosts can break out in joyful song, they can also experience anger and sorrow as well. At least it makes sense to me. Quote

I guess no Angry birds in the spirit world? To answer your last question, I believe there are plenty of angry spirits in the spirit world. The Book of Mormon has many verses on the wicked suffering in spirit prison. It makes a lot of sense to me that those who allowed anger to consume their lives here will have to deal/experience their anger on the other side.About God's anger. I believe His anger is very much different from the anger of man. With Him being perfect; no, I don't think He ever experiences frustration in His exalted state. I believe He has full control of His emotions and actions. Being "omniscient" and knowing the end from the beginning, He is in total control of what's going on here. I believe when the scriptures refer to His "anger/wrath," it is referring to His justness and fairness in dolling out punishment to wicked people who are destructive and deserving of His "wrath." Sort of like when Christ used a whip to throw the money changers out of the temple. He took His time in braiding the whip before using it, and He removed the caged doves out of the temple before He acted, ensuring their safety. This tells me He was in control of His emotions and not acting as a result of them. Quote
Martain Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 ... Do not let any of us imagine that we can go down to the grave not having overcome the corruptions of the flesh and then lose in the grave all our sins and evil tendencies. They will be with us. They will be with the spirit when separated from the body. (Book of Mormon Institute Manual, Alma 34:32–35)Yes there will indeed still be anger in the spirit world. Quote
sister_in_faith Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 I had an experience with an 'angry' spirit in the temple last time I was doing temple work. She was mad that I was sealing her husband to his second wife, and not doing her temple work. At least that's how it felt to me. It was so strong that it was almost like a force was pushing me back and not allowing me to go into the sealing room. Quote
Gargantuan Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Agency does not end with the passing of the spirit from the body. The same spirit that possessed his body when he passed away will have the same tendancies as a mortal. Hence, that why there will be missionaries and teachers who help those who haven't learned how to control their given mortal traits and characteristics. Those who haven't accepted the Gospel here and pass away, for example, will have the same issues that held them back as spirits. Quote
jayanna Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Can you get mad in the temple? sure, but it ain't easy, and it's short lived. Quote
